My husband and I love ruins and couldn’t get enough of this. There are also friendly cats there. Highly recommended.

The Plaka district is vibrant, interesting and has a buzz all day. The crowds can be challenging but it was a great find and we loved meandering around the shops, bars and restaurants. Some ruins, key tourist spots and lovely little back streets are all...More

It’s kind of tacky although it retains its old charm. And you can’t argue with its convenience to the Acropolis. And some of the shops are pretty nice.

Fabulous area to stay, shop and eat. (We stayed at Athensotel nearby) Train from square directly to airport so really convenient. Best to look a couple of streets back from main area for the restaurants the locals eat at (much cheaper)

This area of town came highly recommended from friends that have visited Athens multiple times. It is full of delicious restaurants, great shopping (touristy stuff and clothes/shoes), and has a very young and hipster-ish vibe. There is plenty to do and see, but it gets...More

Mitropolis cathedral, as well as a host of places to
stay, eat and drink. Its pedestrian zones make it a
pleasant place to escape from the city’s notorious
traffic. Adrianou and Kidathineon Streets contain a

Plaka is really easy to walk around, and everthing you would like to see is within easy walking distance. We took an ope top hop on/off bus tour on the first day, and used the bus map to navigate around. Enjoy
