This attraction was advised by our Porto free walking tours guide - if you have spare hour or even less - the place is worth to visit not only for photography lovers. Former prison building creates a unique atmosphere to photography exhibitions, split into many...More

We discovered this museum of cameras and photography by accident, just scanning the maps app on our device. It is housed in an old prison, which is an imposing yet not typically oppressive building near Clerigos. The photo exhibitions change regularly, but we saw an...More

Probably the most amazing and well-organised photographic exhibition place and museum. To building is magnificent, the spaces well used. The display of at least 200 cameras of every type imaginable is astonishing.

This is an old prison that has been converted into a photograph museum. It has a lot of interesting cameras. But the photos were not of my liking. There’s no cost enter so you should enjoy.

An exhibition of photography situated in the site of the cities former old gaol. A great use of a really atmospheric building. There are some really poignant images on the ground floor (photos of prisons / regimes around the world). Some difficult issues, but worth...More

It's easy to get lost in this fortress-like structure with rooms, corridors and massive stairways leading off in all directions. Take time to explore the interior and see the many exhibits of photographs, cameras and related equipment. You also get a sense of what things...More

Enjoyed popping in to this museum. The building itself is interesting. There is a good collection of cameras through the ages and of course a photographic exhibition. There is free admission.

The creative use of the historical building is positive and yet the content was not as strong. Good potential and the free entrance make a nice break from the heat.

As a former secure prison the building is bound to be robust and powerful looking. But it also makes for a most imposing profile as we approached. On an ornate side a trio of decorative sculptures are the culmination of lovely stonework. It has been...More
