We stayed one night in Guimaraes and were almost immediately sorry we did not stay longer. The town is full of many charming squares and plazas. We were there on the day of a festival they call "noc noc nove" during which the town showcases...More

The Centro Historico de Guimaraes is a unesco heritage. It does not have so many tourists as in Lisbon or Porto, but have a lot of interesting places to see. It is very nice to have walk for 1 hour and have a lunch/drink here.

Enjoyed the walk but most of the restaurants offer the same stuff and have very little inside seating so useless on a bad day. We went on a Monday and for some weird reason most restaurants closed at 7pm, despite still having lots of tourists...More

Guimaraes has a small, easy to navigate historic center which is also near the Guimaraes castle and Paço dos Duques and Museum of Alberto Sampaio. It is packed full of historic charm.

I really liked get lost in the historic center, the atmosphere was great and every corner had a beautiful little street with old houses, bars and good restaurants. Lovely.

The old Town. Most of the building here were built in the 400 - 500 years ago. It is amazing that they are still here. Most are used for shops, homes, offices. A great to visit.

This is a small quaint town but we came here after visiting Braga in the morning and were disappointed. If you are going to pick only one of these towns to visit, there is much more to see in Braga.

When you are in Guimaraes, you'd obviously walk through the town centre anyway, so needless to say, do that when you are here. I wouldn't go to Guimaraes just for the centre as it is not that different to other old town centres in Europe,...More

Very well kept, nice gardens, old buildings, lots of minor sights to keep your interest, some tourist shops but still plenty of locals being locals. Had some pasteis made with squash, very good, went inside the cathedral, very good, walked a bit of the St...More
