We had a quick look round during a walking tour of Funchal. The cathedral is smaller than most as it was only ever designed as a church, and has a more modest interior than many of its catholic counterparts. It was still pleasant to see...More

We visited this Cathedral while walking around Funchal. It is amazing how beautiful these churches are. We used the spire of the Cathedral as a landmark to know where we were to find our way around.

Again, there was not a church that was not great to see. So much history, glass, art work. All just a wonderful sight.

There was a service in progress. Out of respect didn't go in stood and looked through the open doors. It's a lovely building. Worth a visit religious or not.

Peaceful and not as commercial as many other cathedrals in the Western world. It was easy to pop in many times and reflect without interruption.
