What a beautiful working piece of art and craftsmanship. An old clock tower with an amazing working clock. Watched the guy ringing the bell and the figurines dance around and the music play. Absolutely a must see.

Try to take in this entertaining display a few minutes before the hour, as the crowd grows and the characters start to move early. Also, the higher number hours (10, 11, 12) have more action happening than at 1 or 2 o'clock!
We watched the clock strike the 12 noon hour and got to see all of the various animations. It is very attractive and lots of fun. It reminds me of the astronomical clock in Prague without the massive crowds.
There are crowd control barriers, hordes of selfie-stick wielding tourists and generally congested hubbub in the minutes before each hour. Then, the little gold man up top swings his little gold hammer, and various characters spin in and out of doors on the tower face....More
Don't make a special visit to Bern for this tower clock, but if in the Old Town, especially around noon, stop to watch some action as the clock hits on all 12. Do watch for vehicles as you walk to the base of the tower....More
