My wife and I visited Lucca on a day trip this past November. The Cattedrale di San Martino is an impressive architectural structure inside and out. The paintings are beautiful as are the sculptures on the facade.

3euro entry is a disgrace - I paid but I object - ask for a minimum donation and see what would happen takes the religious aspect away - plus nothing spectacular for your money

Having a local guide with us the experience was complete. We discovered the little secrets of the Cathedral and the legends that are hard to find in books.

For the size of the town this Cathedral is huge, with a long have and transept. There are beautiful paintings alongside both sides of the nave and a stunning roof. Entry fee of 3€ is much less than Florence or Milan and good value.

Visited Lucca for a day when staying in Pisa. Beautiful old town inside the walls and the beautiful Duomo di San Martino. Tried to climb up to the tower, but it was too high for me, had to come down before I reached the top
