The museum is a must if you are interested in the development of childcare, social services for children, or just want to understand the development of humanely caring for children whose parents cannot care for them. Started in the 1400’s for the care of babies...More

My visit was very educative. Real history is told through pictures, statues, architecture and new technological means. The thing I love about the place ist that it's not very big, there are not too many tourists

This place was such an amazing museum to visit. A full price adult ticket with audio guide is not €9 and since it’s not an overly popular museum on the classic tourist circuit, despite being right by the Academia, you can actually slowly walk through...More

Being a repeat visitor to Florence, I avoid the "big name" galleries as they are so crowded in the busy seasons. So my pick this visit was this stunning museum giving you a fascinating slice of the social history of Florence, an architectural gem [Brunelleschi!],...More

This museum documents and orphanage and has some art. It was very basic with sparse history facts and few pictures. I was hoping for rich stories and more pictures. It was a small museum with not much to see.

I loved this place. The history of caring for the foundling through the centuries was really well told, with a wide range of interactive displays - including the sad tokens left with them by their parents. There was some beautiful art and sculpture on display,...More

This was where unwanted babies were left. They were swaddled tightly and posted through a very small window where nuns and nurses took care of them. Being a Catholic country and very poor, many babies were left here to be cared for. Wonderful ceramics, stories...More

Florence is not only the city of Art and Richness. It is also a center of Mercy for centuries. Ospedale degli Innocenti is an impressive site testifying the 'misericordia' tradition of the city. It is not an orphanage; rather an institution devoted to upkeep of...More

It's a normal lift, the only difficult thing is the button to call it, that has to be touched instead of pushed.
