This was very interesting because of the unique acoustics. Caravaggio dubbed it “The Ear of Dionysius”. It is beautifully situated in the Paradise Quarry and gardens. A must see in Syracuse!

Really does look like a human ear. Part of the archeological gardens. Leisurely walk, not too crowded

This is part of the Archialogical park. The echo & sound in the cave is very good. We were lucky as a Japanese woman sang a song when we were in there & it was great.

This excavation from an ancient stone quarry is impressive in its scale and spatial qualities. Worth a visit if you are in Sicily - along with the nearby amphitheater ruins - and we do not regret the 2-1/2 hour drive from Palermo as this region...More

Listen up! It was great but a bit eerie. Couldn’t see much as we ventured down Dionysus’ ear canal (it is pitch black) so would recommend bringing a torch

We hired Ms Eva Paola Greco as our guide. She gave us more historical insight that we would have otherwise missed. She was well worth it
