Try to avoid the daytrippers from about 10:00 - 4:00 to really enjoy the expansive St. Mark's Square and the amazing architecture all around you. Get lost in the maze of streets leading to and from the Square.
10,000 people...everywhere in the Central ( tourist areas). My wife had never been here so we hit all the famous sites first. Always great but so many people. The Venetian's say it's the Cruise ships ( 1 or more every day).
