To imagine how many hands this 700 year old "private home" passed through and to be able in 2019 to view the inside is truly amazing. Every detail of this classical Venetian and Renaissance building, one of the few VenetianGothic style still in existence is...More

The most amazing place in Venice, beautiful building, incredible artwork, a real must see. Artwork rivals that at the biennale. The staff working there are really knowledgable and happy to chat with you about the works. Very unique space.

We visited Ca’d’Oro on a very rainy day. We really loved the building and it’s contents. The modern art installations are stunning and work so well in this ancient setting. Do go if you get the chance.

Enjoyed the tour with the architecture and art. Lots of Medieval art with some more modern installations. Would recommend with the Palazzo di Grimani.

I loved visiting the Ca' d'Oro. I had seen the outside many years ago, and had since made a painting of the building, so was delighted to go inside, and look out onto the canal, a lovely experience and very atmospheric of centuries past.

My daughter and I found this under an internet search for "palaces" because she is into princesses. While she twirled around the centuries-old pillars in the courtyard and peeked through the railing at the canal like a true princess, I was able to appreciate the...More

This is a very famous building that was once covered in gold (no longer), and can be seen from the Grand Canal.

Probably the best example of Venetian architecture. The facade is really breathtaking. The view of the building from the opposite side of Canal Grande is the best.

Lovely modern installations - perhaps my favourite photo of our time in Venice. Permanent and temporary ex hits to see and great views of canal activity. Lovely.

So when sailing along the Grande Canal it is pretty easy to spot the Ca' d'Oro as it has a very unique front in a qothic / renaissance style. It is on a prime location along the Grande Canal and you are guaranteed to see...More

Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district)
with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many
transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying
areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand
for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal
bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution,
2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli
Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby

You should take the water taxi to cross the Grand Canal to the other side. The taxi has a Ca' d'Oro stop. From St. Mark's you could walk, crossing the GC over the Rialto bridge, but it would probably be a 45 min walk.
