This is a very beautiful area, and a great place to check out on your visit to Venice. Very picturesque.

If you are looking for a quieter, more local area of the city where you can wander to your hearts content, then Santa Croce is for you, we love it. Very local venetians, individual fascinating shops and great places to eat

The sculptures in the church are amazing, a true testimony to the accomplishments of many of the people buried here and of the respect they earned. Of course, the most spectacular, at least to me, is the sculpture marking the grave of Michelangelo. However, others...More

Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district)
when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring
cars and buses close to the center of Venice.
Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking
Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes
with energy from travelers and students. Historic
palaces and former industrial buildings house some
departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture

We took the airport express bus. Bought a return ticket so was already there for the way back and caught the bus just outside the main entrance of the airports.
