A shoppers paradise combining the best of Bolognese porticos with a number of reasonable shops that connects Bologna Centrale with Piazza Maggiore. Most of the day there is the hustle-and-bustle of daily life along with many tourists. An active theater, lots of clothing and specialty...More

On Sundays one strech of the street is closed for vehicles, so people are walking and shopping. Most part of it is arcaded, so it is also very good in summer to walk under shadow.

Wonderful Main Street in Bologna. The porticos are amazing. The city planners didn’t want the vendors and customers to get rained on so they built the porticos. They still close the street to vehicles on weekends.

Via Independenza is a pedestrian mid class shopping street in the very center. To such an "attraction" I always give 3 bulbs, but not here. What distinguishes it from alike streets in other towns is its beauty: old stone streets under the Bologna's landmark -...More

Via Indipendenza starts from Piazza Maggiore and ends at the railway station. It was completed in 1890 when the city became an important railway junction. Now, this street is the heart of the shopping area. You will find many shops, fast food bars, and cafes....More

Via dell' Indipendenza links the station to downtown Bologna and is noteworthy for its covered arcades, like other roadways that distinguish the city. Don't expect high-end shopping here. Do enjoy a nice stroll to the Two Towers and other iconic landmarks in Bologna La Grassa.

Lots of shops along the Via Independenza, with stops for buses that run very regularly. A direct link to both the Via Rizzoli with even more shops, and also the Piazza Maggiore.

This major road leads away from the Piazza Maggiore focal point for the old city district. Both sides are lined with the covered pavement walkways for which Bologna is famous. You can find pretty much all of the major mid-market retail fashion chains here, as...More

It is one of the streets of Bologna with covered walkways which make them both practical when rains and beautiful (at least some of them). On the Indipendenza street there are also many shops, some open markets, lots of coffees. It links the main railway...More

I like going around streets when I am abroad. My hotel is already on this street and I can reach everywhere. Now I learned that there will be a direct train from the airport soon. And always nice before christmas.
