I think it's more a safety issue in general... you would have to ask the company if they would even let you do it, but Segways, even though slower than a motorcycle or moped, fall into the unprotected riding.... and they can... More

Ponza was 1.5-2 hours by bus and then 30-60 minutes by ferry. I can't exactly remember, but it was the PERFECT day trip!
