Apparently one of the oldest markets in Naples it is open every morning. Colourful stalls and very busy. Very atmospheric..

The generosity of Neapolitans is legendary, non more evident i those who feed the populace. Here its easy to find the trad Neapolitan cuisine bursting with battered and fried specialities. Dozens of friggitoria (fried food) shopfronts in the historic centre offer tempting take-aways. Lots of...More

Pignasecca has a very local feel with a mixture of small shops and stalls that attract lots of shoppers from early morning through to mid-afternoon. Castel Sant Elmo stands high above and the area is easy walking distance from the ancient quarter.

There are two food markets in Naples Porta Nolana which is predominantly fish and seafood and then there is La Pignasecca. It’s not a market in traditional sense such as the markets in Spain under one roof. It’s mainly shops in one area over a...More

It is in the core of Naples’ heart. It is a market on open sky. You can find fish shops, pizzerias, historical street food shops and historical bars. Don’t be worried to go and see. It is simply Naples.

Places like La Pignasecca are the authentic local places travellers should go in order to feel they have "seen" the city they are visiting and they have "met" the people. This is the sort of place we always look for so we can feel we...More
