I'm so afraid of heights I was hesitant to do this, however I sucked it up and pushed myself and it was not as scary as I had anticipated. I felt safe although looking up it appeared to be very steep!

It as a great trip, but a shame about the masses of people! We chose an early morning train, but I advise maybe going in the afternoon, as we had to stand for the one hour train journey, not ideal for two 65+ travelers.

It was an unbelievable ride up the steep hill to the hiking trail. Looking back at the monastery from the funicular was surreal!

This is a rack railway which has been modernized to look like a tram. It uses rack and pinion to lift the train up the mountainside and is a great way to approach Montserrat

The cable train ride all the way to the top of the mountain is a must go experience. Be sure you get the Tot Montseratt ticket so that you can avail this experience.

Use the opportunity to see the beautiful mountain area , which surround the abbey of Montserrat. Fly over the clouds and make the wonderful pictures . Also it’s a beautiful place for a nice picnic 👍🌺

On the way up, we could hardly see anything as the train was so crowded. It was not a clear day, which did not help. It gave the ride up very little of the feeling of being high on a mountain. The return journey was...More

Go early to avoid lines for the funicular - it only holds 63 people at a time. Easy, gentle ride to the top, where you can hike, explore and enjoy the incredible views. Only about 50 minutes from Barcelona, this is a fun getaway. You...More
