The Alcazar is the definitive and dominant feature of the old town of Toledo. It is both imposing and spectacular, if a challenge to capture it properly in a photo other from at a distance other side of the Tagus. The interior therefore comes as...More

Lovely building and the inside is quite impressive, although not quite what we were expecting, other reviews on TA warned about the military aspects! Yes quite a bit devoted to wars, army and the military in some detail! But plenty of room to move at...More

We visited on a Sunday which apparently is free entry. This was just as well as we were not particularly interested in all the spanish Miltary History inside. The inner courtyard is pretty and the views from the terrace are excellent. Park at the conference...More

Traveling with my college-age daughter, we found Toledo and its Alcazar very picturesque, however the interior is full of nicely presented displays of not too interesting things. This is not saying that Spain has uninteresting history. There challenge was finding interesting topics among the many...More

We enjoyed our self guided tour through the Alcazar. It had a few decent exhibits inside but it is far more impressive from the outside and is a little sterile on the inside. The views from the courtyard are nice as well as the balcony...More

Once a palace, now transformed into a military museum. Located on the highest hill in Toledo, its opulent and distinct towers and walls can be sighted as you enter the city. The exhibition hall may attract fans of military history, but the building itself is...More

The Alcazar of Toledo is a fortress and palace located in the highest part of Toledo, much of it was destroyed in the Spanish Civil War and what we see now is restored to it's Renaissance splendour. Sadly I failed to do my research and...More

It was a surprise that it had been converted into a military museum and no doubt it would be of interest to many. We enjoyed the views though and had a great visit to Toledo and Segovia thanks to Amigo Tours.

This huge former castle is a mainly military museum, with lots of exhibits including vast armies of tin toy soldiers and real artillery pieces and even a helicopter. We only saw a small part of the vast exhibitions. All exhibits are beautifully displayed. But for...More

We visited the Alcazar today. Unfortunately, I was expecting more of an ancient castle/fortress. Instead, that building was destroyed in the civil war. It is a Spanish military history museum now. While interesting it not something that resonates with a non Spanish person that is...More

I am not sure. I went by car, but in Zocodover square there is information about public transport and a train that goes around the Alcázar. Moreover, there is a bus station nearby the square. I hope that helps you.
