We purchased two double heart gold locks from the guy on the bridge and wrote our names on the locks. The next day the locks were missing from the bridge. They were in two separate locations. We believe he has the master key and is...More
It's a nice enough bridge an all.
Just recently, however, authorities broke the hearts of many locals and tourists as these "love padlocks" have been removed after safety concerns were raised.
Without the millions of locks, but still a great Seine bridge straight into Le...More
We love this bridge for evening picnics. It's wonderful to grab a spot, open a bottle of wine, and just enjoy the sights and sounds of Paris.
We are glad the padlocks are gone as they obstructed the beautiful views from the bridge. However, there...More
This current bridge was completed in 1984 and replaced the original iron bridge built in 1803 that was viewed as structurally unsound in the mid-1970's and then had a section collapse in 1979 when a barge hit it.

You can put a lock on the love lock bridge but I recommend you bring your own lock. We purchased a couple of locks from a guy on the bridge and the next day they were both gone. We think he has a master key and removed them at night, cleans them, and resells them. Bring your own lock and key and you will be fine. There are quite a few locks on the bridge.
