This a great spot in The lakes where you can get some great photographs of this lovely stone bridge with Derwent Water in the background. A short walk further up the road takes you to a stunning view across Derwent Water and beyond.

Although it is a very busy, touristy place Ashness Bridge is beautiful. The river running under is fast and furious and the view is great. Another lovely touch is the National Trust hut next to it complete with fire, chairs and hot drinks.

Worth the narrow, windy road to get here. Would have been even more spectacular with a bit more water in the river.

A must see for anyone staying in Keswick. Take the Derwentwater Launch to the Ashness Gate stop and follow the trail to the bridge. One of the best photo stops you can make. While at the bridge be sure to go a little further to...More
