OMG this was definitely a highlight of our trip. To be able to walk over this Glacier was beyond belief. Loved the ride in the Ice explorer got the funniest guide ever. This is definitely a must do if your in the area. Only thing...More
We visited this attraction as it was included in our overall tour package so cannot comment on pricing at all.
We arrived at the Visitor's Centre in the Jasper National Park and in a short time were transferred to another coach that took us to...More
A worthwhile stop between Jasper and Banff. The mountains surrounding the glacier are spectacular. However, additional sites nearby, such as waterfalls and viewing areas, are limited and controlled which diminishes the experience for those of us wanting to spend our own time there.
Walking up to this enourmous natural structure is a humbling experience. The closer you get the stronger becomes the katabatic wind blowing freezing air down the valley. This is nature in the raw but also nature in retreat as evidenced by the occasional signs showing...More
The day we went we could not take the Icefields explorer tour as it was closed because of high winds.. But we did walk up to the Toe of the Glacier and experienced the glacier that way.. The trek up is abit of a climb.....More
Being close and experiencing a glacier can only be magnificent.

The Columbia Icefield and Glacier was a remarkable proof of how nature is awe inspiring. The Glacier and Skywalk were beyond belief. I m glad I had the opportunity to experience this on the way from Jasper to Banff
We found the Columbia Icefield to be a great experience, to get to walk around on the icefield and finding out all about it from the guide. Not cheap but what is these days in the scheme of things. The parking lot for vehicles has...More
We had tickets in advance, so we got on the transport bus pretty quickly.
From that moment until we returned to the Center, was one and one-half hours.
Skywalk was closed the day we were there, so no help there.
If you're fit and mobile I strongly recommend doing the walking tour rather than the bus tour. It's the difference between walking 3km across the ice in a small group Vs getting on a packed bus and driving on the ice to... More
If you're fit and mobile I strongly recommend doing the walking tour rather than the bus tour. It's the difference between walking 3km across the ice in a small group Vs getting on a packed bus and driving on the ice to simply stand on it for a little bit. Look up ATHABASCA GLACIER ICEWALKS for more details.
