You can look at seals close to the beach if the tide is not on low then they are further out. Otherwise they are swimming around and laying on the rocks relaxing.

The beach itself is a neat stop, situated almost as far west as you can go in Iceland. Maybe sometimes the seals get closer but on the day we visited I had to trek about 300 meters out on the rocks and over slippery seaweed...More

This is truly a spectacular beach even if you don’t see any seals which was our case. Lots of small pools with all kinds of algae, black rocks that give it a dramatic flare. Somebody pointed into the water for some movement but it was...More

We loved this spot for seal watching and found it much better for seals than the northern Vatnsnes peninsula! I would recommend bringing a good camera with a zoom lens and wearing hiking boots to make walking over the boulders easier. The biggest problem with...More

Not the best setup for seeing seals up close, as there is a huge reef which basically keeps them at a distance, particularly at lower tides. You can see them sunning on rocks but they are a long way away- so either bring binoculars, check...More

Just 20 min drive from arnarstapi to Reykjavik I found this great beach to spot seals & was lucky to find 3 lazy ones sleeping 20 feet away taking the tans for the makeup 😎 One has to keep walking on rocks unstable and stable...More

This beach and seal colony is just too cool. We were rather apprehensive about actually seeing seals. We saw at least a dozen. We watched them swim, play and sunning on the rocks from less than 50 meters. This was close enough - these seals...More

We read about this place and since we were in the neighborhood we decided to make a stop. We arrived before the rush and were able to enjoy some quiet time viewing a good number of seals sunbathing on the rocks with their little ones....More

My girlfriends favorite stop of the trip, saw lots of nice seals playing. Walk about 100 meters to the left on the beach for nice views
