The most superb setting with awesome views of the surrounding area. Be prepared for an energetic climb up the stone steps to the top. Well worth it.

The rock formations here are considered Bulgaria’s great natural wonder. They were formed by thousands of years of freezing, thawing, water erosion, and weathering among other things. Truly they are magnificent. However, getting up there to see them is not as simple as it sounds....More

We didn't have time or the energy to walk up all the steps as it was a very hot afternoon but we were able to get some lovely photos, both of the fortress and rock formations and the surrounding area. When looking at the fortress...More

This place was amazing. Amazing views, cheap entrance, 6 leva, but you need to pay cash, lots of history. Should take about 30-40 minutes to visit

The Turks must have felt far from home in this remote outpost, which is worth a visit today. We enjoyed walking along the walls and catching the views from the guard houses and the views of the surrounding countryside.

Stunning views! There is quite some climb to reach to the top, but the stairs and the rails help - it isn't too challenging. The fortress itself is nice too, it's green and cool even in the summer heat. Wear comfortable shoes!

This is a hidden jewel. The fortress is not big but makes a perfect landscape along with the rocks. Unfortunately we could not fully enjoy as there was a stage for the summer concerts.

This is worth the time as it is a very good fortress and back when it was built I think it would have served it's purpose well. You have to go to the top to see the views.

30 to 45 minutes each way. There are lots of steps in the rocks, some very worn away. They have installed some metal steps to make it slightly easier, but there are no passing places, so there can be hold-ups. It was very... More

If you're afraid of heights, don't go near the edges of the rocks, because they may freak you out. It is however totally worth it! The stairs are pretty steep, but are secured enough.
