Had a great day with our guide, Ana. So worth paying the extra dollars to have a private tour to see Mouros Castle & Pena Palace inside and out without having to line up for hours. Ana was very knowledgeable and lots of fun. Cascais and the beach were lovely as was lunch at a great restaurant. Top day!

Great time today with Gonçalo and David—nice, energetic, flexible, and spoke great English. Saw some great castles and scenery.

Due to the risk of fire, the initial plans had mostly been changed and we could not get to the places we had wished to go(Pena Garden and Palace, Quinta da Regaleira&cabo da roca).We were let know only on the day of tour that we cannot go to Cabo da Roca. As the alternative, however, the National Palace and the Palace of Quelez were both a reasonably enjoyable . The tour guide (Mr.F)seems like a good person, but It was disappointing that he kept saying that "Today is not a good day to visit Sintra" and kept asking "Do you have any questions?" so we asked him a question once, but he didn't answer until the end. Also, we suppose bottles of water were included in the tour fee but he seemed to have forgotten multiple time and we eventually could not receive them. As a whole, the tour was not so neat. We are considering to visit Sintra once again, but we think we don't know if we will take your LRS Private Tour again.

Enjoyable day out. Very helpful tour guide. We were collected from port and taken to Sintra village and Castle grounds. Our guide gave relevant information in bite sizes and dropped us back to the ship. Gratefull

We had a great day with Luis as our guide. The castle and palace are amazing and Louis was very informative in a natural relaxed way. Highly recommend.

David was a warm, young host who worked like clockwork. Picked up at 9am and we arrived back to the hotel at 1pm on the dot. David is not a tour guide that talks like a history script, so you’re free to ask as many questions as you like or just stay quiet when preferred. We had one of the busiest days David had seen at Quinta da Regaleira so a long line to go through and the Sintra staff really rush you. (Which is no reflection on this tour, just something to be aware of - don’t expect a lot of time for photos inside in peak season). If you have limited time this is a great option to see Sintra town and Quinta da Regaleira. If you’ve never been to Sintra before I would suggest ask them about the full day tour instead.

Perfect day around Sintra. Full day tour recommended to get the most out of your time. Wear comfy shoes for climbing hills-roads and surfaces can be slippery. Also bring layers as wind can be cold. Guide David was awesome-lives locally and knows the area very well. Smooth driving despite crazy roads and very calm and easy going manner. Made for a relaxing day. We definitely recommend this tour but ask ahead if you have mobility challenges.

Anna Campos is a great guide who is very knowledgeable. She is especially great for those traveling with children since she is very motherly and eccentric. Her motherly nature helped the kids feel comfortable and her eccentricity entertained them endlessly.

Key points from our trip: -The tour should be labeled and priced as a private driver and no guide -The guide Goncalo P showed up an hour late -Our day was 1.5 hours at Pena Palace, 10 minutes at Cabo Da Roca, a lunch, and 30 minutes in Cascais -Guide didn’t provide a tour of Pena Palace -We didn’t see the Moorish Castle or downtown Sintra -Stream of lies and deception between the guide and Luis from LRS Private Tours Hands down the lowlight of my trip in Portugal and a waste of money. The description is inaccurate and the tour guide and operators blame each other for who is wrong/misleading. The tour guide was an hour late, told us he “was told not to guide us in Pena Palace” then told his boss we told him we didn’t want a guide when confronted. Guide said there was no time to see Moorish Castle. Goncalo also said we must pick between Downtown Sintra OR Cabo da Roca and Guincho beach even though we paid for both. We elected for the beach which was fine, but about a 10-minute visit. The restaurant we went to for lunch (per guide’s recommendation) was good, but the most expensive meal we had in Portugal. Caiscais was nice, but we didn’t have much time there. The real kicker to our experience was when we confronted the guide about our experience and our subsequent interactions with his boss, Luis from LRS. Luis wanted to speak with the guide before we finished our trip, so we told Goncalo to give him a call. They spoke in Portuguese so naturally we couldn’t follow along, but what we heard afterwards was quite surprising. Goncalo never told his boss he was an hour late despite telling us earlier that he called Luis. Goncalo also told Luis several lies about our day and trip: he was on time, we said we didn’t want a guided tour of the palace, we didn’t want to walk anywhere – all complete lies. If we hadn’t paid $800 for five of us to book this tour I wouldn’t have made a huge deal, but this was a complete scam. We could have booked a taxi and our own tickets for a fraction of the cost and had the same experience. Luis was combative and refused to make an offer beyond 150 euros so we took it up with Viator who was able to recoup 50% of our cost – still complete garbage.

Let me begin by saying I rarely write a negative review but feel I owe it to others considering booking this tour. Prior to the tour I was in communication with Luis and Luisa and they were very responsive. I was sending 34 people on the tour so I was confident based on what they were saying that they could handle that number of people. I was misled and mistaken. The guides were not knowledgeable and provided little information prior to going to the Palace. After they were finished touring the castle they were told where to go for ice cream and the tour was over. It was extremely disappointing. When I contacted Luis afterwards, I was told that it was not true. We discussed some reimbursement but not surprisingly he never called back. If you look at the reviews, the negative reviews are never addressed. This castle tour is given by many tour groups. I STRONGLY recommend going with a different tour group!!!!!!

Our guide Anna was wonderful! She is very Knowledgeable about the areas and friendly, we had a great time on our tour! The views are spectacular, the history very interesting!

This was a perfect day trip to Sintra with our knowledgeable guide Anna. Highly recommended! Be ready for lots of steps though!

We had a wonderful day with Anna as our guide. She was fun, engaged, and knowledgeable. We enjoyed wandering on our own at Mouros Castle, which was fascinating and beautiful in the fog! Pena Palace was stunning and we appreciated the history and background information Anna provided. We also appreciated her expertise in navigating both places! The drive along the coast and the delicious seaside lunch were also very memorable. Highly recommend.

We loved our private tour (2 of us) with Fernando! He is super friendly, funny, and very knowledgeable about history of Portugal and Sintra/Pena. We were able to enjoy Pena, Sintra, a very special lunch on the water, and some time in Cascais. Fernando advised us on the best spots and ways to maximize our time. It was such a lovely experience! Highly recommend!

The tour to Castle of the Moors and Peña Palace was wonderful and our guide was very informative and accommodating! I do think the tour price was on the higher side, but in the end, I’m glad we splurged on the private tour.
