          Interesting!
We shared the minibus with another 8-10 people. All were much younger than us but very pleasant. I sat next to the driver who spoke little English and I spoke little Spanish but he was trying to point out different things during the journey and was quite funny. Would do it again.

          Comfortable but moist room
We stayed in this hotel for three nights. The first room we have gotten had a shower which didn’t work, so we were moved to another room. This room was a bit smaller and didn’t have a couch. The room itself was clean, but a bit moist! We hard wind and rain the water would get in through the window, which was closed. Bed was good and the shower was warm. WiFi didn’t have a good signal in that room. Breakfast was simple but fine. The employees were very nice and would help if needed. The location is a bit of Santa Elena, but since we had a car it wasn’t a problem. Overall we had a good stay, but might pick another hotel if we would come in the region again.

          Clean nice place.
My son and I stayed for 2 nights. The warm is ok and warm. The owner and his family are very sweet and helpful. There were only two electrical sockets in the room bring your own extension cord. Wifi is just ok but its workable. The owner also has his own shared shuttle bus. He helped us go to Manuel Antonio on a fair price.

Great value, lots of extras, quiet, very thoughtful and pleasant manager and staff.
The Hotel Roca Verde is very easy to find and is on the road about a kilometer from the town of Santa Elena. There is ample parking if you drive. Our family of 4 was very warmly welcomed by Alfonso (Poncho), who took great personal interest in making sure we enjoyed our time in the area. He upgraded our lodging to a nice well appointed cabin for the same price as the 2 basic rooms we had reserved. There is only one cabin on the property and it doesn't look like much from the outside. But it's actually quite nice, constructed of cedar planks which smell great. One room had a double + a set of bunk beds, and there was a twin and sofa-type bed in the living area. Also, a kitchen area with a refrigerator, electric skillet, coffee maker, microwave, and hot plate. The water heater for the shower was a bit spotty, and the place could use a few more hooks or some shelves to get your stuff off the floor, but I don't expect luxury or perfection when traveling in central America on a budget. It was clean and very pleasant. Minor inconveniences are part of the adventure. Poncho's personal knowledge of all the guides in the area was a real asset, his suggestions were excellent, and his enthusiasm was infectious .For me, the best thing about Costa Rica is the Ticos. We loved talking with Poncho. Breakfast was very nice with eggs, fruit, and toast. They even served my eating machine of a son a second breakfast! If there is a downside of the Roca Verde, it's that if you want to be steps away from restaurants and shopping, this isn't really the spot - since it's not in town. The road to town is dusty so walking wouldn't be all that pleasant. But there are cheap taxis who can take you in and back anytime. It's much quieter to stay here than in town and for me that is more important. Also, there isn't much of a view from the hotel if that is important to you, but Poncho directed us to a breathtaking overlook about 1/4 kilometer away...what a sunset! Overall, I am happy to recommend the Hotel Roca Verde. It was a great value and very good experience.

          Glamping anyone?
This hotel is located outside the main town and is a quite place run by a family and friends. This place is super clean and no bugs. I used Morpho Vans to get here. You need a 4-wheel drive to get up to Monteverde and to get to the cloud rain forest--no paved roads. When in town, I did have a driver: Tony, 8350 2142 (Costa Rica number) and he can also pick you up from the San Jose airport need be. Offers: 1. Breakfast each morning 2. Clean, common kitchen 3. Towels and soap 4. They offer services to book tours through them. We actually booked the Night Walk with them and enjoyed it. That tour was $25 dollars less than what is being advertised on the internet for the same tour, and includes transportation. If you are booking cloud forest stuff, I would maybe call Alfonso and ask him what his prices are first and what he can offer. He is pretty efficient about getting a good deal. 5. Wifi Bring: 1. Shampoo and stuff 2. Food or hire transportation to go to Santa Elena is you want to grab a bite to eat. There is no food near by. 3. Rain jacket. Worth the stay!

          Great Place to Stay
Poncho the manager was awesome. He was very nice and booked all the activities for us. Great family owned business. Has everything you need and more. Stay here you won't be disappointed and if you are you complain to much and should learn to enjoy life more.

          Awesome value for money
Roca Verde is located a little outside, about 20 minutes walking distance from the center. By Costa Rican standards, the stay is virtually free and at that small rate, you even get your own personal vacation cosultant right at the front desk. The owner showed a contagious enthusiams to explain all activities offered around Monte Verde and compiled a plan for us around our available schedule. Awesome and among the best I've experienced. Ah yes, you get a room too, which is even clean, reasonably spaced and has free WiFi and TV. A large parking lot is right outside. Unless you don't care about making a bargain or must stay in a super-fancy place, I can only recommend Roca Verde.

          Wonderful
Such a wonderful experience in this friendly hostel. Very clean and very friendly and helpful staff. We were advised about so many activities in the area. It's location is excellent, outside of the centre of town.
