Tripadvisor gives a Travellers’ Choice award to accommodations, attractions and restaurants that consistently earn great reviews from travellers and are ranked within the top 10% of properties on Tripadvisor.
We are the only company offering self guided tours into the hinterland, National Parks and Northern Rivers Rail Trail. Get off the tourist trail and see the magic that exists away from the coast. Be immersed in ancient rainforest, swim in an enchanting waterfall, ride through old railway tunnels and over bridges. See it all in a great day out to remember. Be amazed at how easy adventuring on an E Bike really is, climb hills like a champ and go further than you thought possible. We start at our location in Mooball (next to the Moo Moo roadhouse) and finish at the historic Billinudgel Hotel. You need moderate fitness (the E Bike takes the strain) and good general cycling experience, (over 14 years of age and under 120kgs). Self Guided so you go in your own group at your own pace, stop where you want - just make it back by 4pm. 5-6 hours in total with 3 hours of cycling (rest is eating, swimming and exploring) Challenges - some gravel roads including one downhill section

    Great day for families
Was such an amazing day and my kids enjoyed it. Highly recommend. The ebikes were so much fun to use, don't think I can go back to using a push bike.

An essential way to enjoy nature and see some sights outside of the car!!
LOVED this experience! Toby was brilliant to chat with before we arrived and guided us with his advice for a family with young kids so we were well planned and prepared for our adventure! They are a caring team and we had such a fun time! The views are epic and this is an essential way to enjoy nature and see some sights outside of the car!! Safe for our ten year old and our 7 year old easily enjoyed from the passenger bay! thanks again team! Oh last thing - the bikes are fab, new and great condition!

    Rail Trail mini-adventure
Great customer service and excellent bikes for hire! The guys were friendly and super helpful getting us ready to hit the Rail Trail. We had the bikes for 5 hours and had so much fun; starting at Moobal, riding to Murwillumbah for lunch, then returning back to Moobal, taking our time for lots of stops and a dip in a creek. The trail is easy and super enjoyable. I highly recommend this mini-adventure for a great day out. Afterwards, a cold beer at the Moobal pub is the perfect finish.

    Rail trail delights!
Fabulous ride! Lots of variety of terrain to keep things interesting once off the rail trail and going through the tunnel was fun. Loved the stops along the way to get a coffee/snack or lunch. Great for a family too! We took it slow to admire the beautiful scenery unfolding before us! 10/10!

Best way to spend five hours
A great day out on the Northern Rivers Rail Trail. The trail is smooth and gentle; the tunnels and old rail line details were interesting; the landscape is beautiful. And the bikes from Beyond Byron E-bikes were first rate. Really nice couple of guys running the bike hire added to the experience. Can also recommend the coffee next door at the MooMoo cafe.

No snakes were harmed on this ride
Easy riding, lovely countryside. If you go on a Monday or Tuesday, the wonderful Tweed Regional Art Gallery, with the great Apex Cafe, will be closed. You will miss out, like we did. Fortunately, we have been there before and that is why I can confirm it is well worth the visit and the best stop on the trail. I recommend including this stop on your tour. Really, the main other lunch option is at Hosannah Farm, which serves fairly ordinary food. Looks like a Christian family farm-stay camp, if this is your thing. Overpriced activities: $15 per person to meet and pat a bunny!!! Other lunch options mean looking around Murwillumbah (can't help you there) or stopping ten minutes up the road at Burringbah, where there is a good general store/café. While in Burringbah, I thoroughly recommend a rummage in Heaths Old Wares antique shop, open seven days. It is September and the snakes are coming out. We nearly ran over a python on the path, so watch out for snakes. It was easy to hire the bikes, the process was simple online and the person we dealt with in Mooball was delightful. There was a range of sizes of bikes. They were good bikes — although the seats were not at all comfortable. Two days later, I still have sore bum bones! Wear your padded bike shorts, people.

    Awesome experience! Highly recommend
My family and I went for a half-day ride. It was one of the most fun and memorable experiences we've had in a long time. The rail trail is stunning and the E-bikes make the whole thing effortless. I had a 4-year old in a kids trailer. My 8-year old ride her own bike and she easily rode the 26 km round trip to Hosanna Farm. The Beyond Byron staff are friendly and helpful and will get you going quickly. Everything works great and is spotless. Can't wait to go back!

Fantastic way to see the hinterland
Steve and his team at Beyond Byron E bikes were fantastic. Gear was prepared for us prior to arrival and was in excellent condition. Easily followed app provided route guidance. Thoroughly recommend going through to Husk distillery. The rail trail section is flat and easy 24 km. We stopped around halfway for lunch at Hosanna Farmstay. Fantastic food and beverages and entertainment if you have kids in your group. Good options for gluten free people. The extension to Husk distillery is well worth the effort. We cycled through sugar cane just prior to harvest and then up through rain forest. The e bikes made easy work of the steep climb and the view from the top was fantastic. Husk distillery rum or gin cocktails a worthy reward at the end.

    Great day out
Fun bikes to do the northern rivers rail trail. The trail itself is lovely; through farms and some villages. Well worth the trip. Bikes were comfy and had heaps of battery power. Staff/owner was very friendly. Recommended.

It's a long way! But great views
This was such an amazing bike ride. Even though it's an e-bike, the entire 50km return is a looong way. Our 4 year old enjoyed it and the stop in Hosanna at the farm, just plan if you are going to stay there long time (there are some free things to do and things that cost). We went the entire way to Murwillumbah but probably should gave turned around before the end. It took the entire 5 hours to do that full trip.

    Great bikes and trail
Great way to spend the day. E-bikes make the whole trail, which is quite flat and long, manageable. Stop at Margaret Olley gallery for yummy food. The Buringbar tunnel is fun. Excellent quality bikes, helmets and service.

A scenic wonderland! We had the best time on our self guided ride to Unicorn Falls and beyond. The bikes were perfect and powered us over some steep climbs but felt safe and comfortable to make our 57k ride enjoyable. Steve and Olivier gave us a great intro to the bikes and the trails and gave us some pointers. The falls were beautiful and we stopped at a great cafe for a coffee and pastry. The grand finale was ending for a pint at the Bilinudgel Hotel. I highly recommend this ride which is nice that it isn’t crowded and goes off the rail trail for a bit more of an active ride which was filled with open meadows, lush rainforests, and rolling streams.

We did both e-bike tours with Beyond Byron Tours and we were impressed by the quality of the e-bikes. Lots of battery and assist if you need it to get up the hills and the rainforest scenery was amazing. You won’t regret it! It was raining so we didn’t stop at the falls but on a hot day, it would have been superb to take a dip. High recommend! Easy to follow tour on our phone so self guided tour is a snap.

Brilliant day out with top quality e-bikes. The bike trail is easy to ride on with concrete and even well formed gravel sections We rode through tunnels, over bridges and across pretty little rivers with swimming spots. So many places to stop along the trail; cafes, a farm for animal feeding, cheese factory, pottery, fresh fruit and veggie stands, antique shop and even an art gallery. We took full advantage of the five hour hire to make lots of stops.

It was a wonderful experience, highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area! The setup is streamlined and very simple, all you need to do is turn up and Steve has your adventure ready. The bikes were in excellent condition and the navigation was very easy. Don't miss out on this tour, the bikes made going through the national park hills an absolute breeze. Doing it in your own time is also a plus and the amount of time scheduled for our bike ride was perfect.

Wow! Words cannot describe how awesome this E bike tour was. Steve was ready with the bikes., very informative, and really good at getting us up to speed with using E bikes.

The bikes, themselves were excellent German made Bosch E bikes. They performed magnificently on the hills and on the flat, making a 58 km trip up steep inclines and on rough, at times gravely roads, smooth safe and easy.. The electric assist engines made long hill, climbs comfortable at 20 km an hour- who knew it would be so easy and fun.

The route itself is incredible we passed through green fields and farms , along paved roads, then on the gravel roads up through the hills in the mountains to Jerusalem National, Park, and down the other side to Uki and then on to Stoker siding, where we joined the rail trail.

If you were looking for a great E bike experience to get you out into nature, I can’t recommend Steve and his business highly enough.

A very professional and exhilarating experience provided by Steve from Beyond Byron E Bikes … by giving me a top-notch e-bike and thorough guiding instructions, I enjoyed a smooth trek up through some of the most picturesque land in the country.
