EDDY THE MONKEY TRAINER WAS AMAZING
We visited monkeyland and the safari plantation excursion and I have to say it was one of the best I have been on. Eddy was so welcoming and was hilarious and made us laugh so much! I would definitely recommend this excursion to anyone it’s great for the experience and it is so fun at the same time!
Monkeys were amazing!
We did the monkey excursion with 2 teenage boys! You can’t touch the monkeys but you are given food to feed the monkeys and the interaction with the monkeys is amazing! I didn’t want to leave! Once in a lifetime experience that I highly recommend!!
This was so much fun - the monkey's are well taken care of and just the sweetest things you have ever seen. I could have stayed there all day. The best part is feeding time when they all jump on you trying to get the fruit (funny they didn't seem to like the cucumbers!) and you are covered in monkeys! Can't wait to go back.
Zip Lines & Monkey Land - Great Day Out!
We did this great day out while on holiday in Punta Cana with Runners Adventures (booked through the hotel). We were picked up bang on time at our hotel reception, met by our guide for the day Dario, who was absolutely superb. Besides being very knowledgeable about the history of the island which he have us a great overview of on the way to the ziplines, we discovered that Dario also speaks 5 languages fluently and was very patient and informative throughout the day. We did the zip lines first which were great fun and highly recommended, not challenging at all if you don't mind climbing a few stairs. Cold water bottles were provided before we started.
Afetr the zip lines, we walked across the road to be shown round a typical 'Dominican' house, where they grow Coffee & Cocoa and were given a display on how they are roasted and ground, then made into various products, with a chance to taste them as well. There were many products that they produce themselves (organically of course) that were available to buy if you wanted to but there was no pressure to buy at all. Very interesting addition to the day. We then had some lunch, being greeted on arrival with traditional music being played by the locals. The food was surprisingly good with a varied selection of meat and vegetable/salad dishes and with cold drinks available.
We then jumped back on the bus for a short trip to Monkey Land. After a brief talk, we were shown into the enclosure where the guide passed out tubs of fruit/seeds which enticed the monkeys down from the trees and before you knew it, they were climbing all over you and jumping from shoulder to shoulder (or head!) along the group. The guide took photo's of each couple/family with the monkeys climbing all over you and these were available to buy at the end but again, with no pressure to buy at all. Trust me when I say though that he will take better pictures than you're able to yoursef as he gets the 'perfect' shots with strategic placing of seeds on your head/shoulder to get the monkeys in frame. We were very fortunate with the timing as there had been 5 babies born that week and they were each clinging to their mothers, which was amazing to watch as they jumped around from tree to tree or person to person!
We thourougly enjoyed the day out and would highly recommend both activities. Thanks also to the driver Juan Carlos.
Most memorable and amazing experience
This was one of the best experience ever! The snorkeling part was extremely fun and we got to see beautiful colorful fishes. I was scared so the tour guide took me on a ring which was extremely nice of
Him and he was very patient. The speed boats part of the tour was so much fun. They were extremely fast and reminded me of jet skis. We were able to switch drivers if we wanted to. All of the workers in the whole trip were very helpful, caring, and nice. The snuba part was extremely scary to me but they made me feel very comfortable. It was a lifetime experience which I will always remember. I would recommend this trip to everyone.
- Sarah and Ron (Pakistani couple)
We had the best day at the zip lines and monkey world. All the staff are very friendly and have good sense of humours. The zip lines are fun and very safe to go on. Monkey land was incredible, you spend plenty of time in the monkey enclosure where you get to feed them, have pictures with them and interact with them. They were very friendly and happily jumped all over you. It was an amazing experience and would definitely recommend everyone to go if you’re travelling to Punta Cana.
Monkey Land Trip while staying at Dreams Palm Beach Punta Cana
I went to Monkey Land while vacationing in Punta Cana. I went with my husband and my two teenage children (ages 15 and 17). While on vacation, we went on three excursions (dolphin swimming, snorkling boat, and monkey land). We all agreed, that this excursion was the favorite one of the three excursions.
An open bus picked us up at our resort (Dreams Palm Beach) at around 7 am. It took us about an hour and a half to get to Monkey Land on the bus. Along the way, we stopped at a few more resorts, picking up other vacationers. So, yes, it was a long ride, but we enjoyed seeing the local's homes along the way to Monkey Land. We also enjoyed seeing the beautiful mountain views on the way there.
Once there, we were given some information about what to expect in the monkey area and we were given a few rules. Two things to know before going are that if you have a peanut allergy, you can't do the trip. That is the main food for the monkeys and there are lots of peanuts in their space. The second thing to know is that if you are sick, you can't go. They said monkeys can easily catch a human cold and if they do, it could wipe out their whole colony in less than two weeks. You are allowed to bring your phone and camera into the monkey area, but no bags, no camera bags, etc. All of your personal stuff gets put in a big box. For this reason, be smart and DO NOT PACK anything valuable (keep your money in your pocket).
Being in the monkey area was amazing. The monkeys have 5 acres of space, so you do not feel mean or cruel that they are being held in captivity. They have lots of freedom and they seem to love their space. Also, no one is forcing the monkeys to sit on you. The monkeys decide.
Once you are given food, monkeys will be all over you. I thought I was going to be scared, but it was just too amazing to be scary. While there, we got to see a baby monkey clinging to it's mothers back. The baby was only one day old.
You are not rushed in the monkey area. You have plenty of time to interact with the monkey and to take tons of pictures with them. The tour guide will also take a family picture for you. All pictures he takes, you can buy at the end if you wish. His pictures are $10 each (photo only, no download available to purchase). His pictures came out great, but I also got plenty of good pictures with my own camera.
After leaving the monkey area, you get a few minutes to use the bathroom, wash your hands, view your photos that the tour guide took, buy a snack, etc.
You then go on to learn a bit about native crops grown in the area. They give you information and a tour of cocoa beans, coffee beans. and coconuts. This part of the tour was interesting, but just not as interactive and exciting as the monkey part. I think this part of the tour is more appealing for adults and teens, not little kids.
At the end of this tour, you get to sample some local foods (coffee, hot chocolate, coconut candy, etc.). You also have a chance to buy some of their local foods (coffee, rum. vanilla extract, chocolate, etc.).
This concludes the tour. You then get back on the open air bus to go back to your resort. We got back to Dreams Palm Beach in Punta Cana at around 1 pm.
Additional notes; the tour guide spoke in both English and Spanish for everyone on the tour.
Off-road buggy and catamaran trip
Confirming the trip with the office to determine the pick up time at our hotel was an issue as they stated they could not find my reservation though I had emails and texts from them confirming the actual reservation. However, once that had been resolved it was a great time. Very professional at the off road buggy location but could have been a bit more organized with gathering all the tour guests. Loved the reserve experience and could have swam more in the park-great experience. The catamaran was a lot of fun and my husband and I were amused that we anchored off the shore of the Westin-where we were staying. However, the crew made the swimming and experience so much fun it was worth it. The lunch served was top notch and we finished the day happy that we booked this tour.
UNRELIABLE TRANSPORTATION - DO NOT USE THEM!!!!
I booked Gray Line for round trip transportation for two, to and from the airport on my recent vacation. Upon my arrival it was a little confusing at first because it wasn't explained to me in my confirmation that I needed to go to the BD Travel desk at the airport. Once I found out where to go everything was fine. The problem that I have with Gray Line is that no one showed up to take us back to the airport once our vacation was over and we were stranded at the resort at 4am. There were telephone numbers listed on my pickup confirmation slip and when I tried calling them they either didn't work or no one picked up! I had to end up arranging for a taxi ride to the airport in order to make my flight on time. I sent an email requesting a full refund for my troubles and I have yet to hear back from anyone. Use this company at your own risk. They are not reliable.
A wonderful day, but......
This was undoubtedly a fantastic day out, the boat, the ocean, the crew and passengers. I would highly recommend this to anyone. But - don’t go on the description of what to expect as some didn’t happen at all. We did snorkel once but not for very long and I saw 2 types of fish, definitely no coral. Where it says about the caves- -they are seen form a long way off and I cant remember any iguanas. The natural pool area was nice but nothing special, the only Starfish we saw were dark shadows on the seabed as the boat went passed them, certainly didn’t swim with them or see them close up. I don’t think I fell asleep and missed a whole part of the tour but we didn’t see any swamps or mangroves, nor go to the Turtle museum although I think someone mentioned it. Having said all that, the guide was brilliant, explaining everything and very friendly. The crew of both boats and everything else that we did do, was lovely, from the pure sands on the islands, beautiful waters and sunset, dancing and generally having fun but also relaxing, it was great.
Better Than Advertised!
I cannot state an English word that gives the happiness and therapeutic experience this is. From beginning to end it is very professional. I came to this event with 7 other people 4 children from ages 6-16. Directions were perfectly given so that you are not to step on a monkey nor being bitten. It is very safe and the monkeys are taken very cared for, they will live 25 years which is over 3 times as long in the wild. Thats the serious report.
I walked down the path with a few monkeys shadowing us. then we stood still and were given metal bowls with some fruits and veggies. The monkeys clamor all over you. I got pooped on very quickly. no worries, it wasn't runny or soft, it rolled right off of my arm. I was sad when we were told it was time to leave. I wish I had more time to admire these small creatures. If you love animals. I think you will cherish this event.
We signed up for Monkey Land not knowing what to expect. The experience exceeded our expectations. The staff gave us excellent instructions and we had a fantastic time with the monkeys. It is obvious that the staff loves what they and they take very good care of the monkeys. It felt wonderful having the monkeys climbing all over us. We were educated and entertained and absolutely loved the experience. I will definitely do this again. Mimi and manuel were our guides on the bus and they were both fun and informative we lived this excursion
Was supposed to be 4 hours. Took 5 and was lame. Spent about 4 hours between commuting, getting to location on boat, and overly complicated instructions. Speed boats constantly broke down and had to be restarted. Literally involved going in a circle about 8 times and that was it. And the speed boats weren't fast. Snorkeling area isn't very good. Not much to see. Same goes for Snuba.
My wife and I are both scuba certified and were very unimpressed. Even our kids who had never snorkeled or snuba thought it was boring. We couldn't wait to get home. Overprice.
Oh... and they said they would serve lunch. That consisted of soda and cheap tortilla chips with canned queso or picante. That's it.
Total waste of time and overpriced.
So much fun!!
My son absolutely loved interacting and feeding the monkeys. Their environment was very welcoming and we had a blast. My son said this was one of his favorite parts of the trip and is telling everyone about it since getting back home.
Overall we had an amazing experience but a few things I wish were done differently. First, we were picked up in a safari truck but then met up with other trucks and split up. There needed to be a better system as there was a lot of waiting around that wasted time. Second, the chocolate and coffee presentation was boring and way too long. It felt like we were doing that longer than interacting with the monkeys. I would not recommend the chocolate and coffee portion if children are involved but the monkey portion was amazing. We were also told that the excursion would last 3 hours and we were picked up at 1:55 and did not get back to the hotel until almost 6:30.
We went on the tour yesterday 3/7/19 very well organised everyone was made welcome and staff interacted with all the people on the boat.i just want to say a special thankyou to Javier who was our snuba dive instructor we had our 9 year old granddaughter with us and he was so patient with her and encouraged her to dive down approx 12 feet and sit on the bottom of the ocean feed the fish from her hands...we are so proud that she had the courage to do this and im sure it was the help from Javier that made it possible ....thankyou so much for making a little girl so happy and making a wonderful memory for us all ....we would highly recomend this trip speed boats were really good fun too
