      Beautiful nature and nice experience
Excellent experience. Guide Agnell was superb. Winds were a little high but he guided us through it. Don’t give up paddling, even if it seems difficult. Mangrove Forest was so worth the hard work!

An experience not to be missed
The whole trip was a fantastic experience. We went to the sand bar trip with heavy expectations and we were satisfied with the experience that they gave us. The trip lasts for an hour or so and that depends on the travellers mindset and willingness to explore. We reached the spot at 6.45 AM and were accompanied by a guide named Samson. He was really well mannered and helped us in completing the trip. The view from the island especially during the dawn is an unforgettable one. On one side there is the beach, on another side there is the Ashtamudi lake and far away you can see the railway bridge. The sight of the train moving across the bridge is something to be experienced. You can literally walk through the lake when the water level is down. After completing the trip we expressed our satisfaction to the officials there. This is something to be done when visiting Varkala

      Multiday kayaking expedition
We did an amazing 3-day trip with Dani and his team. I contacted Dani a few months before arriving in Kerala. He was really good at tailoring a trip to our needs (both of us had done some recreational kayaking, but never a multi-day trip). Day 0 we slept in Ayushkamy Ayurveda (next to the Syzygy Ecosports). Day 1 we woke up very early, and Dani's team drove us (and the kayaks) upstream of Paravur Lake. We then kayaked 4-5 hours (~20km) back down to Ayushkamy Ayurveda, arriving in time for a late lunch. It was a beautiful and peaceful stretch of water, with lots of nature, song from riverside temples, and the opportunity to explore a bit on land when we felt like it. Day 2 we woke up early again, and this time drove upstream of Munroe Island. The journey was probably even more beautiful this day. Day 2 we slept in Green Chromide homestay in Munroe Island. Day 3 we paddled around the canals of Munroe Island, before saying goodbye to Dani and his team. The whole trip was great fun, with lots of 'off-the-beaten-track' experiences that we wouldn't usually have had as tourists. Thanks for everything - was a really memorable trip!

Amazing backwater kayaking tour in an awesome place
Syzygy is by far the best place to enjoy kayaking and canoeing in the pristine backwaters in the Ashtamudi - Paravur area. I did a multi-day kayak expedition covering Ashtamudi, Paravur lake and nearby places. The location is absolutely stunning with swaying palms, small islands and sandbars, and mangroves. I suggest you dedicate at least 3 hours to visit the small island with a temple and the mangroves and also do a tour of Ashtamudi. They have kayaks of different types - all of superior quality and canoes too for group paddling. The charges are reasonable and you'll find them professional and caring. Be ready to adhere to basic rules like using a life-jacket and not polluting the surroundings. If you are anywhere near Ashtamudi, Varkala, Kovalam, Kollam or Paravur this kayak tour is a must. I am definitely going again and next time would stay in their tents.

      Excellent
We were 2 adults renting 2 single kayaks. Called them 1 hour in advance and provided excellent guidance on how to get their, where to go etc. They offred to send a person along our kayak trip but we decided to go on our own. We spend 4 hours sailing alone in the most beautiful surroundings. Excellent new equipment. This was the highlight of our Kerala trip.

Great way to add outdoor activity to your Kerala trip
We were staying in the area and happy to find an outdoor sports opportunity. Staff was very nice and helpful. They are also socially engaged with programs for school children etc. There is a variety of boats to select to match your skill level. Guided or beginner tours are available if you wish. We took 3h paddling along the lake bank to the mangrove forest and back, encountering wildlife (birds, jumping fish, sea eagles) and fishermen. A very relaxing experience (depending on your paddling...) on such a large and serene body of water, which is untouched by commercialization.

The best kayaking experience I ever had. The atmosphere was so amazing and scenic. The guide was very kind, caring and friendly towards me and other 2 kayaks. He guided us through the mangrove forests and the paravur back waters which made the ride truly amazing. The vibe was something else. I won't forget it. A must go if you are around Varkala or Kollam.

Just 200m from the excellent Ayushkamy resort sits this kayak outfit. We did two 3 hour trips with Alen and thoroughly enjoyed them both. Day 1 was to the mangroves and paddling through them was wonderful. Day 2 downstream to the next lake and back. No motorboats at all so it was very peaceful and the scenery is great. As you paddle you'll see many birds and listen to the sermons from various temples.

We had evening trip. Perfect for birdspotting, swimming in sweet water. Wery beatiful nature and mangroves. Lot of time. Very well operated tour, Safe jackets and paddling instuctuons. Everything was very smooth, precice and well organized and friendly. Take some floating plastic bottles back with your kayak to waste bin and help this way make nature cleaner!

Kayaking was something we did not give a try yet. It was through SYZYGY ecosports that we got an opportunity to learn a lot about paddling and got a chance for paddle for hours. We will be sharing all the details regarding this adventurous activity to you. Kayaking in Kerala is something we badly needed as we have enough rivers and backwaters are there.

And We have also included some notes that you need to check if you are planing to give a try.

This adventurous aqua sport is located at a very interesting place. The name and logo defines it. SYZYGY means eclipse of three celestial bodies in the sameway here the Arabian sea, SYZYGY ecosports centre and Thanni lake comes in single line.

    Things to do

SYZYGY Ecosports mainly focuses on water based activities like kayaking, that includes backwater kayaking, sea kayaking, expeditions, guided trips, paddling training

Our Experience – The Best Kayaking in Kerala

We used public transport well this time. We travelled from Coimbatore to Kollam via train. After we reached kollam, from there we got a bus till Mayyanad and then auto rickshaw to our destination.

The auto rickshaw journey was amazing, where there two types of waterbodies on both sides. One is the vigorous Arabian Sea and the other calm Paravur Backwaters.

There were different types of kayaks in front of us. We had the choice to choose our colour and lift them and park them over the banks.

Alan is the facility manager at SYZYGY. He gave us all the informations and trained us.

We six had great fun with our kayaks for hours. Even the next day we paddled in different direction. We saw many Jellyfishes on the way.

    The beach

On the first day after paddling we had lot of fun at beach. This beach is not visited by many. Then at beach we met Tony and Neena who are also a traveling couple like us.
Lakshmipuram beach is very neat and clean beach having sea bridges at regular intervals.

We went for the ~10km kayak trip to the mangrove forests with our guide Alan. He was extremely knowledgeable and gave clear instructions to the group. Our group consisted of people with different experience levels and he made sure to adjust his pace and instructions to our needs.

If you are looking to be a part of nature and have a wonderful kayaking trip (avoiding the crowds that generally visit the mangrove forests) I will heartily recommend syzygy.

10/10 we are already planning another trip with them

I had memorable time spent with my family kayaking the backwaters of Kollam. Syzygy EcoSports were just amazing..

They even took care of your belongings by providing waterproof pouches for Phones and other carry ons(for free 😁). Just love the hospitality of Kerela people.

Mr. Alan were there waiting for us and he quickly guided us through the waters and basic information. We were scared but Alan asisted us throughout the session, he kayak alongside us.

As this was our first Kayak session, I only did it for an hour(650 INR for two seater). Alan took us to a small island for a break and we turned back to the base. But next time, I will be doing for a longer period; deep into Mangrove forest. And trust Google Map on the location, it's very precise.

Thanks again for a lovely experience.

Nestled between the Lakshmipiram beach and the Paravur lake, SyZyGy Ecosports literally justifies its - sea, earth and lake in a tandem. What better location to have a water sports venture. The facility has high quality imported kayaks and very experienced and enthusiastic team, who makes the expedition unforgettable. What makes SyZyGy unique is their commitment towards protecting the water bodies and developing a sustainable tourism model.
The six hour canoe trip introduced me to the beauty of the Paravur lake and the rustic life on its banks. Do not miss the temple in the middle of the lake and the huge swathe of mangrove forest en route to Ithikkara. All in all this was the best backwater experience that I'd ever had.

The first impression came with a phone call and later on watsup communication with a super polite lady Jennifer. Professional at arranging and explaining, she even helped us with local auto rickshaw transfer. Alen waited already for us at the backwaters and provided genuine welcome along with positive attitude which we appreciate a lot. We tried kayaking only for several hours in the evening and next day early morning and the morning one was absolutely adorable...so quiet, peaceful and beautiful everywhere around you while moving along backwaters. Unfortunately we didn’t have time to enjoy more of it but we would definitely go further to experience Indian backwaters beauty. The early morning trip was much more impressive. Hope no one will pass by your place but will make a stop to feel your sincere welcome and experience charming Indian backwaters.

Hello Katrina, thanks a lot for visiting out paddling center and appreciate your feedback. As you said, number people who want to explore the backwaters without much carbon footprint is smaller compared to those who prefer houseboats and power boat tours. On top of it, we are far away from regular tourist attractions which limits our exposure to tourists. But this is exactly why we chose this place for setting up our canoeing & kayaking center instead of commercial tourist spots. The place is silent, calm and away from commercial traffic. We love it. We hope you would also have loved it and prefer to come back again here if there is a trip again to south. Thanks again for coming twice to paddle and taking time to give your valuable review of our little kayaking center activities and about the place. Best regards J
