Tropic Wings Daintree - Fantastic Day!
We had a fantastic time on the Tropic Wings Daintree Tour. Our Tour guide was Ben, and he was absolutely fantastic. We first went to the Wildlife Habitat which was great with a little tour included and light refreshments! We then went on our Daintree River cruise where we luckily spotted a Crocodile swimming up the river! After our river cruise, we then went up to Cape Tribulation Beach which was absolutely beautiful which was then followed by a walk through the Rainforest with Ben who talked to us about the trees/plants in the rainforest and we even spotted a few cool insects on our way round! We then walked through to Myall Beach which was stunning. After this we headed off to lunch, which we thought was great. At the beginning of the day, you pick what you would like for lunch, and you have a few extra choices to go along side your choice! After this we went to cool off in the Swimming Hole which was very much needed as it was a very hot day! After this, we headed back towards our hotel and on the way, we got some ice cream which was very refreshing after a fantastic day out with Tropic Wings! Thank you, Ben!

        Grand Kuranda Tour was great!
Unfortunately the train did not run for our tour due to heavy rains which caused a mud slide. We were still picked up at our hotel and taken to Kuranda by luxury bus coach. The rest of the tour was as described. The butterfly garden was quite nice. The rainforestation was good but crowded. Good was pretty good. The skyrail trip home was also quite nice.

        An very enjoyable day trip
The day we took the tour there was 12 people in the group. This allowed getting to know fellow travelers easier. Don, our driver and guide for the day, was well organized, knowledgeable and friendly. He had many stories to share. The first stop of the day was the wildlife habitat. While we got around most of the exhibits, it would have been nice to have had an additional 45 minutes (or maybe we should have spent less time with the koalas and kangaroos!). Next was the Mossman Gorge. The welcome to country by Uncle Tom was interesting and informative. After a walk in the rainforest (and opportunity to paddle in the river) there was a delicious wrap sandwich served (was a choice of filling). After lunch we went in search for salty crocs from a boat cruise on the Daintree. We saw a juvenile and mother “Bruce” guarding her nest. There were ample toilet breaks throughout the day and the coach was modern, comfortable and air conditioned.

        Tropic Wings Daintree Tour
I had an amazing experience on the Tropic Wings Cape Tribulation and Daintree Tour! The trip was well-organized, and each stop offered something unique and memorable. Our tour guide, Ben, was fantastic—he was incredibly knowledgeable and shared so many fascinating stories about the area’s history, culture, and wildlife, which made the journey even more enjoyable. The highlights of the tour for me were the Wildlife Habitat and the stunning Daintree Rainforest, where I felt completely immersed in nature. The Daintree River Cruise was another standout moment—we were lucky enough to spot a wild crocodile in its natural habitat, which was thrilling to witness! Overall, it was a well-rounded trip filled with breathtaking views, exciting wildlife encounters, and plenty of interesting insights. I highly recommend this tour to anyone looking to explore the beauty and diversity of the Daintree region.

        Amazing!!!
Had a great all encompassing day out with Lisa who shared a lot of her knowledge and personal experiences. The tour covered so much more was covered than I expected. Had a lovely hands on visit to see indigenous animals. We then partook in an Aboriginal smoke ceremony and learnt a lot about their way of life from Rodney who spoke with passion. We visited the rainforest then had a yummy lunch. After a quick stop to view the beach we finished off with a trip on the river spotting crocs. A really great day where even the weather cooperated after torrential rain overnight. Thanks so much Lisa.

One of the Highlights of Our Visit to Cairns!
This was definitely a highlight to our trip to Cairns!! Just beautiful and unique all day long!! Everything is extremely organized - you get two different nicely laid out itinerary sheets throughout the day, but it's also flexible enough for you to go at your own leisure during many parts! It was gorgeous everywhere you looked, and so many interesting things to learn! Definitely take the time to do the guided ranger tour on the aerial tram, and do all of the things on the suggested itinerary! The train is really unique - we HIGHLY recommend reaching out to the tour vendor to upgrade your tickets for that portion - worth every penny! And the tour company was very helpful in all of the planning and our changes! If you have an option, we loved doing the Skyway in the morning and train on the way back down - it was so nice to have the flexible time on the way up, and the relaxing ride down. This is a must do tour in the area!

We loved the tour and all of Dom’s stories. Specially the detailed captain cook story. There is so much intrigue and twists in his stories. We thoroughly enjoyed touring with DOM. This is one of our favorite tours so far in Australia thanks to him. He is so knowledgeable and interesting. Best tour guide ever.

We booked a Classic Kuranda Tour with Tropic Wings.
The experience started with a lovely welcome from the Bus Driver!

We took a train to go to Kuranda from Fresh water station which was absolutely beautiful experience with such a breathtaking view! I took my cousin from Japan to go on this tour and she absolutely loved everything about this tour.

We had enough time to explore Kuranda market and the village. After that we went to the Rainforest Station and experienced Army duck tour, aboriginal dance show and the wildlife park. We took Skyrail back to Smithfield. The day was full of fun and good quality time! This tour is definitely worth the money and your time.

If you are planning to go to Kuranda, I highly recommend to book with Tropic Wings as this tour includes everything in a package! Lunch & hotel transfers too✨

Thank you Tropic Wings for an amazing time in Kuranda!!

Firstly I must say - Geoff - what an amazing fella to meet and greet us. We drove to the station and wasn’t sure where to collect our tickets. Along came Geoff and explained how the day would play out. His commentary on the bus was interesting and engaging and the only driver during the day who did this (on the transfers we had).
I highly recommend booking one of these tours. All included, easy flowing and kept us busy all day. The Teenagers loved it! We went up by train and down by sky rail. I think this was great.

If you enjoy scenery and animals this was a perfect combination. We were picked up at our hotel in Cairns then taken to Freshwater Station. The train ride takes about an hour and a half to Karunda Village with lots of opportunities for scenic photos. At Karunda Village there are many shops and places to eat but the highlight (for us) was the Koala Gardens where you actually get to hold a koala. It is an additional cost but the pictures you can take with your own camera are better than anything you can get at a zoo. The pics I posted are with an iPhone 11pro. There are also wallabies and kangaroos hopping around that can be touched. From Karunda you are taken a short distance to Rainforest Station for a buffet lunch which had lots of options for all types of eaters and an abundance of fresh fruit. There is a koala “experience” here that is a picture with a koala on a tree limb that was only 15$ but not like the actual hold you do in Karunda although worth the time. We did army duck tour which also gives interesting information on Australia rainforest plant life, saw aboriginal dancing, actually throw a returning boomerang and shown how to throw a spear and play a didgeridoo . We bought boomerangs here because they authentic and wood actually from the rainforest. After this we were taken back to the station for the Skyrail back down the mountain. A storm had come through while we were at Rainforestation so the weather was very pleasant. It is extremely high up so if you have a fear of heights opt for the train down

Hi, Thanks so much for exploring Kuranda with Tropic Wings and for taking the time to leave a review. It's wonderful to hear that you enjoyed your tour! The Skyrail, Kuranda Scenic Railway and rainforest Army Duck tour are all such fun and unique ways to see the rainforest and to learn more about this incredible ecosystem. Rainforestation's Pamagirri Aboriginal Experience is a great way to learn about the various aspects of this fascinating culture. All artefacts and artworks sold in the Pamagirri Gallery are authentic and are painted on site by the Pamagirri Guides. This makes them extra special souvenirs. Thanks again for visiting Kuranda with us!

We were unable to do the train part of the tour because of a landslide on the tracks the night before. When picking us up the tour company gave us the option of a full refund or taking a bus to Kuranda. Since we had limited time in the area we chose the bus ride. The only issue is that it got us to town before 9:00 and nothing was open. When the driver dropped us off he said things would open around 9:30 but it was actually closer to 10 and even when they did open there was not a lot in the town to see. The markets have very few booths open and wasn't really worth the time.

Rainforestation was interesting. There is the ability to get your picture holding a Koala but you have to book it in advance directly with them not through the tour company.

The cable car ride back was the best part. Great views the whole way. Be sure to got off at the first stop and see the waterfall. It is beautiful.

This was the worst tour I think I’ve ever been on. My partner and I have traveled a lot of the world, and have been in Australia for a month and this is still the worst tour we have been on. We are ubering back to our hotel half way into the day because it’s not worth finishing. We want our money back.
To start, the train ride is slow and boring. I guess the waterfall was cool, but not worth the hour and a half train ride. That was probably the best part of the trip.
After that, you’re left in Kuranda for about an hour and a half to see some really touristy shops and a butterfly sanctuary that has no interesting butterflies. We walked through the town, got some coffee, and sat their twiddling out thumbs. We asked if we could head to the rainforestation early but were told that it was either wait in town or wait there.
We got to the rainforestation, where we were excited to go on the duck boat tour- sooo dumb!! You went around a short loop where they pointed out spiders, 2 dangerous plants, and a snake. Not at all worth it- we still want our money back.
After that, was lunch. We’re vegan so we asked if there were vegan options. We are more than happy to bring our own lunches, we’ve done it on a few tours. We were told, though, that there were vegan options. They didn’t lie, there was watery rice and a watery, flavorless curry that barely had any veggies or anything in it. To all the non vegans- nothing else looked appealing either.
After lunch, we had time before the indigenous dance so we decided to walk through the nature park. The animals are kept in small enclosures and they seem visibly depressed.
After that, we didn’t think the rest of the day was worth it. We called an Uber and drove the 30 minutes back to Cairns.
We want our money back, as we can’t be given our time back. Save yourself the money and time. Do not book this experience.

Hi Ashley, We are sorry to hear that the tour did not meet your expectations. It is surprising as the iconic journey and exploration of Kuranda is one of the most famous in the region. Yes, The Kuranda Scenic Railway is not a fast train by any means, as the idea is to take in the scenic views and the learn about the history via the educational commentary. In Kuranda, the Australian Butterfly Sanctuary is the largest butterfly flight aviary and exhibit in the Southern Hemisphere and home to 1200 tropical butterflies, we are saddened to hear that you were unable to find one interesting butterfly. We would like to acknowledge that your transfer to Rainforestation Nature Park was at a scheduled time and as there were other customers who were on the same tour we are unable to leave them behind to suit your requests. Upon your scheduled arrival, the amphibious World War II DUKW, colloquially known as Duck aims to allow guests to experience the tropical rainforest from a totally unique perspective. During the 45-minute rainforest tour, your knowledgeable Duck Captain will identify and explain fascinating plants and wildlife. We regret to read that you found this trip was “dumb”. We do find your complaint about the vegan and non vegan food unusual as the food at Rainforestation is chef prepared and we receive continuous positive feedback on all areas of the menu, but we are happy to look into this further. It is important to make you aware that in the hot and humid Tropical North Queensland, it is in fact normal behaviour that animals are resting and are less mobile throughout the hotter parts of the day. We can confirm that the animals are not depressed. Rainforestation Nature Park is accredited by ZAA (Zoo and Aquarium Association), whose standards are higher and focused on animal welfare, also known as the 5 Domains, which ensures animals are receiving the correct nutrition, environment, health, behaviour and mental state for their particular species. It is a pity that you chose not to take part in the award winning Pamagirri Aboriginal Experience or the renowned Skyrail Rainforest Cableway. At Tropic Wings, we endeavour to provide the best experiences possible but we also encourage customers to research the tours and activities most suited to their needs when they travel. Your feedback is greatly appreciated, as we continue to strive towards delivering memorable moments.

We went on the Grand Kuranda tour which was a well organised tour.
We were picked up at the scheduled time and transported to the train station where we boarded the scenic railway up to Kuranda. On arrival it was a short walk to the butterfly sanctuary which my kids loved. We were picked up and transported to the rainforeststation park for a cultural experience followed by buffet lunch of which there was plenty of food. We were able to squeeze in a koala photo which was a highlight for our daughter. A wander through the animal park was lovely. We were then back on the bus to the skyway station for the trip back down. The views up on the train and down on the skyway were spectacular and the standout for the day.

I was exhausted after 22 hours of travel to make it to Cairns. I almost decided to skip this full day trip but I am so happy I didn't. Booking was easy, reconfirmation was simple, Adrian the tour guide and driver was outstanding. He made everyone feel like they were an old friend. I was really cool to ride on an old train and travel through the forests to the top of a mountain. Great views all around. Once in Kuranda, the village is filled with things to do. Hold a koala (they only work 30 minutes per day-3 days a week so they aren't being handled too much). The aboriginal performance is really cool to see. Skyrail is terrifying but so much fun. Don't skip this day trip!

Note: no air conditioning on the train so grab a tour pamphlet at the station as it can be used as a manual fan. Bring your reusable water bottle since they have water on board. Adrian the tour guide and shuttle driver, Reese on the duck boat, along with Lance and Winnie as our walking guides were all really phenomenal.

Our tour guide Geoff was great, while we missed out on the train because of cyclone jasper, the bus ride up the mountain was a great experience. The duck boat rides were really interesting. One small bummer about Kuranda, by the time we got out of the butterfly conservancy most of Kuranda Village shops were closed, by 3pm. The Skyrail was a great experience.

Absolutely fantastic day out with Tropic Wings to Kuranda and rainforeststation. Our Driver was extremely helpful and friendly and even dropped us off first to our hotel after a long day!! Thank you ASHIF!! Very interring trip staring with the cable car ride up to Kuranda which passes over barron falls. After walking around the village, we were then taken to Rainforeststation for an amazing afternoon which includes a wildlife sanctuary, aboriginal dancing and Boomerang throwing, lunch and an Army Duck wildlife tour!! We returned on the Historical Train to cairns in the Gold Class section, where we received a cheese tray and copies amounts of Wine and Bubble for the 1.45 hour trip to cairns!! They pour very generously!! Highly recommend this day out to Kuranda!!

Seeing the Rainforest up close was awesome! You can download a narrative to play as you ascend the hill. Get off on both stops and see the plants and trees up close. The Duck Boat was fun and the driver knowledgeable. I enjoyed throwing a boomerang and learning more about the Aboriginal Culture. Lunch was ok. I really enjoyed the train ride back to Sydney. I like getting out and exploring the area. Neat bridge and scenic overlook made for some great pictures.

Hi there, I noticed that this review is for a different company. We are located in Cairns, not Sydney. I'm glad you had a great day though!
