- achalaphadke00Off beat Bhutan: A walking holidayWe were on Bhutan walking holiday from 27th April-5th May'23. The entire itinerary was very well planned. We wanted to do off-beat Bhutan trip and what we experienced was beyond our expectations. Thanks a million Outdoers! Apart from usual tourist places in Thimphu and Paro we visited a place called Gangtey. This is a country-side small village with beautiful landscapes. A perfect place for nature lovers. One day hike to Bumdrak camp was equally exciting. Got to see different types of Himalayan birds on the way to Bumdrak and near campsite. To name a few are Himalayan monal-female, Blood pheasant, Eurasian jay etc. All the hotels and other arrangements were excellent. The guide, Mr. Thinley was extremely good. Very helpful, polite and well mannered person. He shared a lot of information on different topics with us. He seemed to have a good knowledge about wildlife and birds also. Over all, it was a mesmerizing trip to Bhutan.
- Go0470126845600Offbeat Bhutan tourThe tour was Offbeat Bhutan. And it was very nice . The itinerary was nicely designed . Thoroughly enjoyed
- Nupur_Agg00An unforgettable experienceWe recently had the most incredible trekking experience with the Outdoers team, and it was truly a trip of a lifetime! From the moment we signed up for the trek, the Outdoers team took care of every detail and made sure that we were well-prepared and informed for the adventure ahead. The trek itself was breathtaking, with stunning vistas, challenging trails, and unforgettable moments. The Outdoers team's expertise and professionalism were evident in every aspect of the trek, from the well-planned itinerary to the experienced guides who provided invaluable guidance and support along the way. One of the things that really stood out for us was the level of safety and comfort provided by the Outdoers team. Moreover, the Outdoers team's commitment to responsible and sustainable trekking practices was truly commendable. They emphasized Leave No Trace principles and encouraged us to be mindful of the environment, local culture, and communities we encountered during the trek. The Outdoers team's passion for the outdoors, their attention to detail, and their commitment to customer satisfaction were evident in every aspect of the trek. We felt well-cared for, supported, and inspired by their expertise and enthusiasm. We cannot recommend the Outdoers team enough for anyone looking to embark on a trekking adventure. Their professionalism, dedication to safety and sustainability, and passion for the outdoors truly set them apart. Thank you, Outdoers team, for an unforgettable experience!"
- Vingbyneha00Breathtaking views and adventureThis was an experience that included seeing Rhinos walking across the road, dolphins playing around your boat in river Brahmaputra, experiencing jumping from cliffs as well as kayaking in river Umangot on one side. And then walking across living root bridges and viewing numerous magical waterfalls shrouded in clouds on the other. And we could sneak in a spelunking adventure at the end of it all. And not to mention the comfortable stays that Outdoers provided us with, on this kind of holiday. Would recommend this highly to anyone who loved experiencing nature at its best.
- goksentrepreneur00Awesome trek @ MaghalayaIt was one of our best holidays. The entire logistics and coordination was perfect. The entire team from Shyam's coordination to the cab drivers to guide & staff @ places we stayed was good. Meghalaya is really beautiful and mesmerizing. The trip is a bit challenging as there is lot of climbing up & down. Of course the Guide is capable of quickly suggesting ways to suit our mood & fatigue levels. Enjoyed all the places where we stayed as well. The last couple of days at Assam was also very good and different experience from Meghalaya.
- r_kumar090100Excellent tripI'd a great experience with outdoers. Tailor made trip with arranged for us. Had a fun time with family (including my parents) we visited pobitra, shilliong and chirapunji. Visited living root bridge. Had a thrilling experience in exploring Grotte de Mawmluh (cave). Boat ride in Dwaki river is an amazing experience. Thank you Team Outdoers for arranging a memorable trip.
- CAROLINAT72800Awesome Trek in MeghalayaThis trip is awesome. Meghalaya is beautiful and has so much to offer. This package from Outdoers is perfect because it gives you taste of all the different things there is to see; forest, rivers, waterfalls, caves and the best part the local people. All the resorts were very comfortable, food was great, I am vegan and they accommodated my diet. The tour guides were excellent at their job and great people. Highly recommend.
- aakrithi00Experience of a lifetime! This was a well curated package based on the specific requirement of the group! We wanted to be adventurous by day and relax in the luxury of a well maintained resort by night. Shyam completely understood what we were looking for and tailored it just the way we wanted. We were very well taken care of and all we had to do was book our flight tickets and land up. This trip will go down memory lane as one of the finest. Highlight of the trip was definitely 'Spelunking'- not for the unfit or faint hearted :), ziplining and cliff jumping. The trek to the living roots bridge was amazing as well. Looking forward to reaching out to Shyam/Outdoers to help us plan more trips in the future. Thank you for making this trip so memorable.
- Suchitra B00Beyond exhilarating! The curated activities were phenomenal. We started our 5 day trip with Spelunking and Shyam from Outdoers had arranged two phenomenal guides Ban and Gary! They were the most patient and kind guides, so much so that they even shared their shoes and walked barefoot in the caves because the sandals broke for 2 of the members in our group of 5 ladies. The whole trip was very well arranged and right from the airport pick up to the resort that we stayed in was tastefully chosen! We did Spelunking, double decker living root bridge , cliff jumping and zipping across various parts of Cherrapunjee and Shillong! We even got to see the Bangladesh border and ate some local meals. Overall, it was a perfect experience for our group who wanted to do an adventure based trip. We cannot thank Shyam and his team enough to give us a lifetime of memories
- Remmya010200Explored the unexplored through Outdoers - Clouds, Exotic water falls and the wilderness of Meghalaya and AssamDecember is always holiday time with most of the MNCs at Bangalore shutting down ensuring that you take proper breaks and rejuvenate yourself. My vacation planning this time was a last-minute affair. Thanks to Shyam and @Outdoers.in who made the trip possible. I got introduced with Shyam while I was browsing through some reviews on trip advisor and the name “Meghalaya -A walk in the Clouds” struck my eyes ..Few calls to Shyam and our 9 days itinerary was made . I didn’t even google the places in the itinerary. This was our first visit to that part of India😊 too. So, we -3 Musketeers’ stuffed all our winter clothes (the temperature can go low as 6 ◦ C at some places) and if you are travelling from Bangalore (18-20 degrees) this temp will be super cold for you in the first few days till your body get adjusted. At airport we were welcomed by our Guide (Pankaj from Outdoers team and Nayan...ji the driver. They both were great company for us for the next 9 days. A true “Atithidevo Bhav “experience. When you drive from Guwahati through Shillong few things which will catch your eyes are clean roads, waste bins every nook and corner, even u see them on village roads and Maruthi cars (800 and Alto) black for taxies and mostly white for private care everywhere. I guess the people there are obsessed with Maruti brand and small cars …by the way their cars are super clean too😊 1.Our first stop was Langkawet – “The Retreat “welcomed us. It’s a remote resort tucked inside the Langkawet village with beautiful farms around. The misty morning walks on the small village roads is a real pleasure and truly mesmerizing experience. Another amazing thing about this place is the homemade hot hot food by Victor (the owner) and his team. We also tasted some amazing non veg local cuisines. I learned a non veg Sesame recipe and tried that at home too. Only thing you need to watch out in this place is the temperature .... for us it was 7 to 9 degrees. Next few days trekked to Shnongpdeng and the blissful Umgnot river. This is a very beautiful clear river and you would be able to see stones underneath. The water is so pure and clean. There is a bamboo bridge which helps you cross to the other side. Throughout the trip we tried local cuisines from hotels, the local guides also helped us in eating/ trying some amazing delicacies. Trekked to Shilliang .to see the few " Living root bridges". 2.Shora – “Cherrapunjee” this is how it is branded outside (this is the second rainiest place on earth) 3. Trekked to Nohkahlikai falls, here we were exposed to the wonders of dense subtropical forest as you negotiate the steep trails of Nohkahilikai falls (we had a great local guide " Baan" " he is a certified mountaineer himself, great trek and Amazing view from the water fall top 4. Mawlongbna - The place we stayed inTraveller's Nest this is run by the villages and the youngsters of the village volunteer and take turns to look after the place and the travelers. A very well-kept place. More treks followed to Split Rock – this is a spectacular and beautiful creation, is as high as a 4 storied building. We climbed down by ladder and walked through the narrow passage, these passages get filled with water during monsoon, making this site a wonderful place of river canyoning. Explored some amazing rock formations and ancient fossils. Explored a Cave (pitch dark inside) we had head lamps and torches with us, walked inside for almost 1.5 kms. the entire cave length was 3 Kms…To add on the suspense our guide after (1.5 kms) asked us to switch off lights and feel the silence. At that moment even though the silence was enchanting, I was reminded of English movies were a creature would come out of water and swallowed you ☹ …. Jokes apart …the experience of Cave dwelling was amazing Next, we came back to Shillong city and enjoy some local shopping at " Police Bazaar". We stayed at “Aerodene cottage” (Aerodene in fact is a truly hidden gem in a quiet lane in Dhankheti locality). They have very beautiful garden where you can enjoy your morning sun shine The neighboring state Assam greeted us the next, visited the Pobitra wildlife Sanctuary, it’s on the southern bank of the mighty Brahmaputra in Morigaon district in Assam. The boat ride on the river and the sunset view is truly an eye catcher. Pobitra has the highest density of Rhino population in the world. Eco resort run by Champak (he is a conservationist of wild animals) was a great get away for us. With the early morning Elephant ride, we sighted plenty of Rhinos and wild bisons. The cold mornings at Mayong (Mayong has a Mahabharata angle. it’s believed that Ghatotkacha’s clan used to live here and the village is known for its magical powers in olden times, it said that even today every family in this village knows some magic) The last stop was Guwahati …it was more of street food time now with the help of our Driver Nayan- he is a self-made man who came to Guwahati at the age of 11, he knows in all the locations in North east and is reliable than your travel review pages and google maps Over all an amazing holiday to a beautiful place and very warm people. Thank you Shyam and Outdoers for making this possible for us.
- 6464800Walk in the cloudsVery happy with all the arrangements and pleasant experience. Looking forward for another tour. Our entire team had a very happy experience.
- Madz32100Meghalaya - A Walk in the CloudsWe were a group of 9 with about 4 senior citizens. From the word 'go' the tour was a hit with regards to the stays which were very comfortable and cozy..The food was simple and hot and very homely and good on stomach..The bus, driver and the assistant to the Tour organiser were very very helpful and courteous...The Best part of the tour was the interesting places chosen by the organiser and the smooth execution made the tour very pleasant and memorable.. I highly recommend Team Outdoers/ Shaam for an enjoyable and well coordinated trip. Regards Madhuri Jupudi
- Padmakhasi00Khasi me.We were a small group of seven all together, including Shyam. I was the reluctant sign-up; prudent, and an overpacked enthusiast. An amicable and unassuming Shyam met us at the airport and put us all at ease instantly, over a cup of coffee. If only I could sum up what was to follow in so many words, I would feel rather accomplished. But I knew I would fail miserably at it. That's why I didn't attempt it for all this time. Even now, I do so with very little hope of doing any justice. Is it possible to translate in words, all your eye-smiles and heart-smiles? From trying to please our stern Victor, who cared so much about 'the integrity of the plastic bucket' being compromised if you use it to carry 'hot water' , and who always asked if we liked some tea, but never really did give any; to our luxurious stay at Chirapunjee....it was nothing short of magic! We all had different needs and demands, yet Shyam always ensured we were all happy at all times. The entire trip was one long intoxicating song being played, with bursts of sheer intimidating beauty, throwing us into silence and reverence. It started with " Oh! Is this what Ruskin Bond was talking about?" and grew into an inexplicable inner journey when I set foot on the Living Root Bridges, that connected us to the wisdom of our ancestors. Our incongruous self getting in tune with our real being, because we were aligning with the Earth and the Sky was a perk. There were no safety measures, no backup plans, just a chance to trust yourself and to take one step at a time! There is never enough time to admire every little wild flower looking at us, every colourful leaf drifting in the gushing singing streams. I miss that enormously. The verdant paths and river beds we walked , the waterfalls that enticed us, are vivid sensory experiences that flash when I close my eyes and think of that trip. The songs, the blending-in into the Khasi outfit, all precious, and remain dear to me. They beckon! It entailed a lot of walking, and arduous treks were followed by refreshing, joyful dips in pristine waters and some soulful singing. Shyam is a great planner, taking care of many details and I would do this a hundred times if I could! I have recommended this to friends and they followed suit, equally happy! So, here's to all the people looking forward to rainbows and adventure, "Go for it!". Outdoers is a fantastic choice! Padma Vatti
- Toinkers00One of the best trips everA bunch of us (14, adults + children) signed up with Shyam for the Meghalaya trip. From the time we signed up to the time we went our separate ways, Shyam was and is still a steady presence giving advice and tips. The tour was beautifully planned, the places we visited were a healthy mix of touristy and the hidden gems and the how-did-you-know-about this places. We trekked/ walked a lot more than many of us ever have, but the view, every single time, was worth it and more. The places we stayed in ranged from the uber cosy to the rustic homestay, the food was always plenty and fresh and delicious. All the words sound completely drab and boring compared to the experience. I have just one advice to anyone planning to take this trip... Take this trip! Oh and one more .. buy sturdy shoes and start working on breaking them in. Cheers :-) Uma
- Chait100Happy hikes and restful eco-stays though clouds, greenery & waterfalls!I had always thought of Meghalaya as an exotic place of exciting cultures and beautiful awe-inspiring terrains. Shyam & team @Outdoers.in had packed all that and more into this trip lasting a little over a week. It was meticulously planned itinerary ranging across the Khasi hills that covered awesome root-bridges, pristine waterfalls, natural (swimming!) pools, off-beat villages with open, fun-loving people (and children with smiles that light up your heart!), idyllic scenery and vistas found after adventurous hikes through lush vegetation up and down steep hills. A good pair of hiking shoes, hiking pants, hats and insect repellant are a must! Of course, finding and claiming a good sized bamboo pole for a hiking stick adds to the fun for the kids. We're always being reminded by Shyam to pack swimwear and some of the hikes ended at very beautiful mountain pools at the base of waterfalls - such a treat after a hot and often humid hike! We even had a picnic lunch at the edge of a stream watching its waters fall over a huge overhanging rock to create a small waterfall. We waded / hiked back through that stream after lunch, from the waterfall to the Van parking spot to round out that afternoon perfectly. Rain is the norm in these parts (Cheerapunjee is among the rainiest in the world!) but we did get lucky and got almost no rain. Packing good rain gear is a great idea. If I had to do all the above again, I'd do it in a heart beat. What made it more fun was that the itinerary included things for both adults and kids. The very knowledgeable local guide was pacing my energetic 9yr son at the head of the hiking group and answering all his questions while we straggled behind with Shyam at the tail end. I have to mention the activity book provided by "Outdoers" to record adventures and interesting flora/fauna - it was seeded with lots of tidbits of interesting info and kept the kids (and a few adults too!) engaged, heh! The eco-stays were quite comfortable and were arranged to provide a feel for the local culture/food/people and bio-diversity. As an example, the huts on stilts in the eco-stay inside the Pobitora Rhino reserve were so much fun for the kids. At the same time, the self-produced and self-made videos on the conservation efforts of the young, local conservationist running the eco-stay (and his dedicated team) were a wonderful dinner-time treat. It was humbling and at the same time inspiring to meet him and his team. I know he definitely made an impact on my son and I'm happy for that. Cruising the mighty Brahmaputra, boating on the Umgnot river, practicing the pronunciation of village names like "Shnongpdeng" and being taken in by its charm and stunning vistas, marveling at the bio-engineering feat called (double-decker!) root-bridges, enjoying the group's company and bonding over hikes and meals, elephant safaris to view rhinos and hearing an elephant trumpet from close quarters to dissuade a rhino threatening to charge us, seeing my son bonding with the elephant-calf and feeding it bananas, .... throw in prehistoric caves and cave-art (Mawsmai), visits to living cultural museums (Don Bosco) with knowledgeable guides who make it fun for kids and adults alike - these memories will probably last us a lifetime!

This was the best birthday gift I gifted myself .The trek through the wild life santuary was the best experience ever . The guide was very good , he helped us spot beautiful birds and plants .It is indeed a nature lovers paradise .All home stay was beyond our imagination - Luxury in the middle of the forest , completely untouched by any commerialisation and excellent local food served to us with great love . We stayed in villages which were approchable by foot only. There were only 3 to 4 family homes in each mountain village and staying amongst them was a beautiful experience . Shyam was just a call away .He organised and planned our trip very well . The organisers gave me a surprise birthday cake along with a candle light dinner . It was a dream come true to celebrate my birthday in the mountains ! Thank You Outdoers !

I heard a lot about this trek from my friends and we were not disappointed at all. I went with my wife (we are both nearly sixty) and we managed to trek most of the days without too much difficulty.
First couple of nights were in a quaint little village Gaunap which had only 13 families. No pollution, no noise, no garbage - just enjoy the serene beauty of the forest and the distant mountains. I am an amateur bird photographer and the tour operator arranged for a guide who had excellent knowledge of the birds. I managed to photograph over 25 different species of birds.
Thanks Sundar and Khim Singh!
Astronomy is also one of my hobbies and I stepped out late in the night to do some star gazing. I was initially disappointed to see the bands of clouds across the night sky. However the clouds were stationery and it took me some time to realise that that I am actually looking at the milky way!
There is no dust or light pollution and sky felt like right out of the Star Wars movie with millions of stars visible to the naked eye!
Sundar is an excellent cook and managed to satisfy even a finicky eater like me.
We stayed in 3 different home-stays and all of them were very clean and comfortable.
This is my third trek with the Outdoers and they truly outdid themselves again!
Thank you!

Hi TheWiseGuy, thanks for taking time to review the trek. You both did great - glad you were able complete a good part of the trek. You should make another relaxed trip to Binsar solely for birdwatching and astronomy!

We thoroughly enjoyed our week in Binsar with Outdoers.
From the moment we arrived, we knew we were in very capable hands. The places we stayed in were charming and comfortable, our guide Sundar was a walking encyclopaedia of knowledge on local flora and fauna, bursting into birdsong himself on occasion. The combination of the beauty of the place, the warmth of the people and the sheer exhilaration of being outdoors was incredible. The itinerary was flexible and completely at our pace. It was not too physically challenging and was perfect for first-time walkers like us.
So many parts of this experience felt like a labour of love rather than a commercial venture. After being confined to our apartment for the past two years, walking in the forest, with spotty mobile connectivity was just what we needed and Outdoers were absolutely the right people to do this with. No hesitation at all in recommending this to anyone.

Highlights of the trip:
1. Eco stays - No AC or fans or TVs. Homes were very cool and we had good sound sleep.
2. Hosts are farmers or locals. Hosts were very kind, helpful and excellent service.
3. Food was local or north indian food and was very tasty. Portions sizes were huge.
Oraganic food and fresh milk from cow/buffaloes
4.Guide was very knowledgeable and humble. He treated guests like kings.
5. Places like Gaunap, Shaukityal and Dhaulchina were really small villages and you could hardly see people. We could see farming, milk rearing and cattle at close.
6. Internet doesnt work in Gaunap, Dhaulchina - So we were not disturbed by chatter.
7. Treks were slow and steady and adjusted to pace of each trekker
8. There were some water streams in jungles, where we could collect cool water and wash ourselves.
9. Safe treks - both from humans and animals. Whole jungle was for ourselves
10. It is low priced. Such great food, such views and treks at a affordable place.
11. Very well organized by Outdoers team
12. I saw real village wiht no plastic and genuine happy faces.
Other things:
a. If you are coming from south india, it is a 1.5 day journey to reach Binsar TRH.
b. Just one jacket is enough for nights, its windy but not cold. So dont overpack.
c. If you are used to some other food, please bring it along.
d. Connecting roads are good, not much traffic

Outdoers ensured that the tour was comfortable and evenly paced for my family with teenagers. Our guide made the trip a wholesome experience with his knowledge on the flora, fauna and birds. Home stay and the food prepared from fresh home grown vegetables will be remembered long after the trip. Kids mentioned fresh air, panaromic views and quite forests as three top things that come to their mind when they think about Binsar.

The Binsar trek is perfect for families with young children. There are quiet forests to explore, birds and other gorgeous insects to identify. Delicious local fruit and herbs that the children can pick themselves. Outdoors has a great butterfly and bird watching walk that helped my kids to expand their bird identification vocabulary to an unimaginable degree :) they beat us hollow in a bird naming match. Through old style village games like stick cricket and rock stapu they came closer to understanding how even rocks, pebbles and sticks can be used to play exciting games. A forest treasure hunt helped them to look around and collect a variety of leaves and other material from the beautiful surroundings. The taste of local food is nothing like what you’d get in the city. The clean fresh air is like a treat for the mind and body. My younger one was challenged to complete all the scheduled treks and she managed so well that her confidence levels in terms of trekking are now highly improved. I highly recommend a trek in the Binsar sanctuary and appreciate the high level of competence, knowledge and professionalism shown by the outdoors team. I would absolutely love to take this trip again !!

Dear Priyanka, thanks for taking time to review the trek! So glad to know that the trip triggered an interest in bird watching and observing nature. Also glad to know it helped boost the younger one's confidence in herself. We hope to see you on a future trip with Outdoers!

We had a wonderful trip with the outdoers team at Binsar.
This was our 4th Trek with the team and we have been amazed at their ability to delight and pleasantly surprise their guests with incredible experiences.
From a surprise lunch by a Himalayan waterfall to stargazing sessions under the wonderful night sky to a surprise outdoor breakfast with a view of the Himalayan ranges, every experience has been memorable and the outdoers team really knows how to put it together.
The locations at Binsar are fantastic and suited for travellers of all ages and the treks were designed based on the fitness levels and preparedness of the participants.
It was wonderful to spend time with Sundar and his loving family and get a close view and experience of life in a little Kumaon village.
If you are looking for a light hike, or intense trek or a short or long relaxed stay at Saatri or Gaunap, Shyam, Sundar and Outdoers team will ensure it's an experience of a lifetime.
