About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- 915doreenm0 contributionsWorth the hurdle to see this beautiful placeThis beautiful place is tucked away in Sikkim, an hr and half away from Gangtok. It’s a difficult place to go for foreigners as one has to obtain range of permits. To visit Gangtok and Changu Lake try not to use e visa cos it restricts your activities and place you can see. Get the stamped visa on arrival maybe. We finished our tour in Nepal so had to go through Delhi to get our e visa stamped. We then took flight to Bagdogra from where we drove to Gangtok. To enter Sikkim the is a Restricted Area pass that you need so have passport size photo ready together with copy of visa and passport as well. Have it all photocopied in advance to avoid waiting. This place closes at 10 pm. To get to Lake ensure to ask if roads are accessible cos they close in snowy weather conditions. We used Galaxy Tours and travels to help us with all of this and were really helpful. One the day of driving to Changu Lake RAP & PAP permit is issued to access the place. This was organised by my Tenzing +91 98320 44536 and his team so it was done seamlessly. There are lots of army vehicles and personnel around. Drive is quite windy but scenic hence the need for experienced driver. Duran from Galaxy Tours and Travel was absolutely fantastic. +91 89002 19552 Changu Lake was worth the hurdles I went through to see the place. It’s beautiful and scenic and the guide was very experienced as he explained the history and culture.Written 15 January 2025

- Escape036646038110 contributionsVery Very Bad Experience while visting Namchi (Chardham)It was very Bad experience as we were going to Char Dham by won Vehicle but while entering to Chardham , the local taxi people not allowing us to enter by own vehicle & we were going with our family & children & in whole way children & my family were vomitting & they become weak we have told the whole thing to the local taxi people but local taxi guy not allow us to enter by our won vehicle also charging unnecessary about 600 bug for only 1 km, we not no choice we have hire there local taxi & gone there. After visiting Chardham we do not go for other site because all of this nonsense people behavior also that guy was fully drunked. So it was very very bad experience. We go with our family & children & this kind of act not good for tourist. I will never visit aging to Sikkim. They are looting tourist.Written 29 May 2023
- ShreejaPanicker0 contributionsDestination was good …. Bad experience with tour operatorI would not recommend using the services provided by this tour operator, their charges are double the actual charges. Better to use some local tour operators. They are not locally based, and they have no idea about the local rules and regulations. I have used their service on 13th April 2023, I paid full amount in advance and charges were including govt permit to Natula/Tsongmo… prior to my travel date I have asked the tour operator and ensured that the tourist destinations are open for tourist. On the tour date the driver informed me that permits to Natula are not ready.. he added he can use his influence and arrange passes as he knows someone, but I have to pay additional amount cash with no receipt. I spoke to local contact (tour operator) he confirmed that I can pay this additional charges and later refund will done for the same. There is no news regarding the refund.. They are just cheating tourist by lying to them.. Tourist were allowed and govt issued passes too, they cooked the whole store of govt not allowing tourist to Natula just get extra money. This tour operator services cheating, fraud… package details say including free water and snacks which was never served to us… Please do not get cheated …look for better tour operator.Written 26 April 2023
- Lex W0 contributionsDon’t botherThere was only vague information on where to meet, MG Marg is a big place. Did get a phone call and eventually agreed to met at Mahatma Gandhi statue at 7PM. We messaged host when we arrived 15 minutes early , and he eventually turned up 10 minutes late at 7:10. Went to 1st place was OK, had local 1 beer and 1 wine and nice snack, left there at 8PM. Next place tried the traditional millet beer, an acquired taste I think, it was like drinking warm vinegar. Nothing else was offered but did have good chicken dish snack to share. Then at 9PM was told time to go home and goodbye! So we started late and finished 1 hour early and only 2 places visited not 3 as advertised. The snacks and drinks probably cost less than NZ$10 all up, just not good value. Give this miss.Written 4 April 2023

- Vivek3536140 contributionsIt was incredible to witness the beauty of the sight. It is 2-3 hours journey from Gangtok. And the whole journey is full with tMust visit place for all nature lovers. Since it is very cold place, it is advised to carry your inner and jackets. It is better to start early in the morning so that you can spend hours there, because one should return from there in day light. The way from Gangtok to the lake full of natural beauty and at the same time it also dangerous. Drivers are expert, need not to worry, just for sale of safe journey, I think we should return from there in daylight. One more thing I want to add that since there is frequent raining, one should keep such type of warm clothes which can protect them from rain as well, because near the lake there is no shed and in absence of that you may not able to spend time there as planned.Written 28 May 2022

Some important places of interest that had been left out are
1.Lepcha Bong Gumba Museum, next to Kumudini Homes (10 minutes walk from bus stand) with 300 years old artifacts, they have now a Lepcha Tribal Weaving Centre next to the Museum. It is now connected with Bird Watching activities
2. Rabindranath Tagore's House where he wrote some of his well-loved poems
