It was nice to not only learn the techniques but also to understand the background to the art. The lady giving the training knew her art very well and was skilled at passing her knowledge on.Written 23 November 2024

It was less than an hour and a half in terrible bicycles with little brakes or any adjustments to suit your height. - SharonC4030 contributionsTerrific Cooking Class in PondicherryWe had an absolutely delightful experience here. We attended a Creole Cooking class with Manisha - who was warm and friendly and a skilled, experienced cook! First we prepared the food, then we cooked the food, then Manisha served us the food on traditional banana leaf ‘plates’. Everything was fresh & delicious. Manisha was very respectful of our western palates and didn’t push us into anything too hot or spicy for our taste. Thoroughly enjoyed this experience and absolutely recommend it without hesitation!Written 29 February 2024

She gave us a delightful glimpse into daily family life and the spiritual place of Kolam in Tamil Nadu life. We were also kindly allowed to transfer our rained-off bicycle tour. Generous. Thank you. - michaelr1590 contributionsA touch of Pondicherry CultureSITA offers so many options to experience the real Pondicherry. We took advantage of 3 classes: - Kollam Making - Bicycle Tour - Creole Cooking We enjoyed all the classes and had a very personal experience as we were the only people in each of the classes. This made the classes even better as the teacher was able to customize the class to us. For example, we were on the bike tour and then we were in a cooking class so we purchased food for the dinner at the city market during the bicycle ride. While at the market the teacher bought me my first custard apple. The teacher also adjusted the menu for the cooking class to fit the dietary restrictions of my wife. Don't miss these experiences.Written 31 August 2023
- MGP_solo0 contributionsDisappointingTruly terrible service. We had booked for a group of 6 and had two cancellations which were advised well in advance. Continued unanswered emails to seek a refund with no response. I’m not sure if it was just our group, but the sandwich or snack they promise is also at a cafe round the corner at your own cost.Written 24 August 2023

We attended an Indian cooking class at the Sita Cultural Centre in Pondicherry, and it was a fantastic experience. Our group of four had a private session where we began by planning the menu: chicken biryani, dal fry, and carrot halwa.
Our wonderful guide, Manisha, then took us to the local market, where she introduced us to the vendors, selected the vegetables, and explained the various lentils and spices as we gathered our ingredients.
After returning to the cultural centre by auto (tuk tuk), we began preparing the vegetables and cooking. It wasn't a formal training session, but rather an incredible, hands-on introduction to Indian cuisine and flavors. Manisha walked us through the spices and showed us how to recreate the dishes at home.
The three hours flew by, and the meal was absolutely delicious. We highly recommend this class for anyone looking for a fun, authentic cooking experience in India!

So fun! Wholeheartedly recommend the cooking class to all, young or old, experienced cook or not. We went to the market to do the shopping with Manisha, and we made vegetarian dishes and one meat dish and dessert! All delicious and tailored to what we wanted to learn. I loved it.

Excellent!
Great value and great hostess!! A trip to the market to buy the ingredients and then a leisurely lunch preparation. A great first lesson in how to prepare and use so many spices and flavours.

Outstanding! The multitalented Manisha was brilliant she clearly loves her role. Her enthusiasm for teaching was exceptional. She took us first to the local market to buy vegetables which is an experience itself! We cooked the meal under her guidance and so far the best simple meal in India. I’d come back any day. Give her 6 out of 5 stars.

Couldn't recommend the cooking class more highly. Manisha was extremely informative and a joy to work with. The class is well suited for a wide range of cooking experience/confidence. The menu is very customisable and can be vegetarian. Also brought us to the fish, produce, and spice market that we would have been sorry to miss otherwise.

Great cooking class where we learnt how to cook traditional South Indian recipes in Lakshmi’s home. It was very authentic and if you love Idli and Dosa , this is a must do! We learnt so much from Lakshmi (not just about the cooking but also about Indian traditions and her life).
