Itinerary
- 1The tour begins with a walk in the rainforest looking for all kinds of birds, insects, and amphibians. Continuing the walk on the trails, you will come to the Canopy Bridge system section. This system consists of suspension bridges, built to U.S. engineering standards. The six sections total 250 meters, spanning from platforms attached to massive hardwood trees to create the most impressive Canopy Walk in Costa Rica. The design permits minimal forest impact, allowing our participants to explore the majesty of the forest canopy from a bird's eye view. As we continue the walk in the jungle you'll find the beautiful pristine river of the Rainmaker Park. Handrails and easy-to-follow footpaths along with observation platforms allow you to observe waterfalls and capture with photographs the rich biodiversity this unique site has to offer. Close to the end of the walk, a pristine waterfall pool will beckon you to enjoy a refreshing dip.

- Thorsten S0 contributionsUnforgettable Mangrove Kayak Adventure in Costa RicaThis was one of the most incredible experiences we had during our trip to Costa Rica! The kayak tour through the mangroves was not only breathtakingly beautiful but also highly educational. Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable and shared fascinating insights about the delicate mangrove ecosystem and its importance for the environment. One of the highlights was spotting a rare and venomous water spider up close—a thrilling moment that added an extra sense of adventure to the tour! The serene atmosphere, combined with the intricate network of mangrove channels, made this an unforgettable journey. If you’re looking for a unique way to connect with nature while learning something new, this is an absolute must-do!Written 7 December 2024
- tcker0 contributionsGreat experience!Glad we took this tour with our guide Kenneth. He was knowledgeable and friendly and enthusiastic. He made sure we saw the main animals we came to see (sloths), plus a bunch of other animals and plants obviously. He took a lot of care to make sure we got good pictures via his sighting scope. Definitely take a tour instead of going to the park and trying to spot wildlife yourself, a lot of the things that Kenneth pointed out would not have been visible to anybody but an experienced guide.Written 6 December 2024

We had the most fantastic experience with Jose on this tour!! I traveled with my 6 year old daughter who normally is fearful of everything but Jose held her hand the entire time and build her confidence up so much, that by the need she was teasing me for being such a baby haha. He explained everything for the adults as well as her. We saw snakes, frogs, and all sorts of amazing creatures. He definitely made our trip and to top it off we had the waterfalls all to ourselves❤️. I couldn’t be more impressed with our adventures in CR! Jose you made a little girls dreams come true and I thank you! Till next time🤘🏼

We ended up participating in 3 tours with Jade Tours- The Bird Watching, The Rainmaker Park and Waterfalls Tour and Manuel Antonio National Park Tour. Each excursion exceeded our expectations. Every day was the best day! Their tour guides are so knowledgeable, interesting and attentive to detail. Our guide most days was Edgar, who loves nature and is enthusiastic, passionate, energetic about his country, his job and educating tourists,.We felt so fortunate to have him as our guide each time.
We recommend Jade Tours and will absolutely use them again next time we visit Quepos.( and I would request Edgar every time)

The Rainmaker Park tour really exceeded our expectations. First off, our guide Juan was excellent - very knowledgeable and took extra time to show us additional wildlife on the way to the park. Much appreciated! The hiking was excellent (true rainforest hiking), the hanging bridges were safe and a load of fun to cross, and the lunch offered was good as well. This was one of the highlights of our trip this year to Costa Rica.

My family and I had a fantastic and educational tour of the rainforest. Our guide Juan Campos was very very knowledgeable and had wonderful tidbits of information for us. This tour was one of our earlier tours on the trip and while we were most excited to get to the beach, this eco tour did not disappoint. Loved all the sights, sounds and smells. the authentic Costa Rica lunch after the tour was the delicious. I would highly recommend this tour and you must request Juan Campos for your guided trip.

The tour guide Daniel was great - very informed and very helpful. The park is beautiful and well cared for with plenty of interesting wild life. Transport to and from the park was timely and good. The trail was just under 5 km and took 2 hrs 15 mins. The hanging bridges were fun and gave a great perspective to the streams below. We really enjoyed bathing in the natural pool below the small waterfall. However, the food at the end of the walk was less than I expected for the price of the tour ( 80 dollars each) . It was basically beans and rice with small pieces of chicken and some sliced vegetables - no desert , but natural fruit juice was great!

My mother and I decided to do this tour, it’s was amazing.
My mother is 70 years old, Roy our tour guide made sure to walk slowly and answered all her questions, Roy was very knowledgeable about the animals and insects that were there(Rainmaker Forest).
Make sure to wear a bikini under your hike outfit, there is an incredible water fall in the middle of the hike, I highly recommend to cool yourself off there.
The tour was nice the hike was nice and easy I highly recommend Roy and this hike.

We initially planned on the morning guide, but ended up in the afternoon guide (started just after 12 I think) - and we are glad we did! Our guide, Edgar, is very knowledgable, funny and entertaining. His English is extremely good. He was patient with me even though I have a slightly weak left ankle and this is the first time I have hiked in a while. Though the area is not very dangerous, he did make sure we knew of any poisonous frogs or insects. I got bitten by and ant and it was a little uncomfortable and red so he sprayed vinegar to neutralize it if it was dangerous (it's fine)! As for the rainmaker, it was absolutely amazing - though we didn't see as much wildlife as expected.Perhaps that's due to the time we went. Edgar did help us spot some birds though. For me, the environment and hanging bridges stood out the most though the small waterfall was nice too. Enjoy Costa Rica!

We booked this adventure through Jade Tours and had a wonderful time! Our guide was Eduardo and he was absolutely amazing! We were in awe how he could find some of the little creatures in the forest and his knowledge of each species was fantastic. We saw several species of frogs/toads, lizards, insects, and even an eyelash pit viper (from a safe distance)! The beauty of the rainforest was all around and the dip in a refreshing waterfall pool was phenomenal! Moderate exertion, good walking shoes and water shoes recommended. Had a lovely Costa Rican lunch in the park afterwards. We thought so highly of Eduardo we requested him again for our tour of Manuel Antonio park the next day and he once again did not disappoint (see separate review). Thanks again Eduardo and Jade Tours!

Really beautiful view of the forest— it was pouring when we were there, so we didn’t see as much wildlife and were a little rushed because of the lightning. The guide was knowledgeable but was hard to hear what he pointed out if we were at the back of the group. Wonderful lunch at the end.

Our third tour with Jade Tours and once again a great one. We went back to Rainmaker Park. This time in the daylight to enjoy the hanging bridges, the beuatiful view to the sea and to swim in the waterfall pools.
We were again accompanied by Joseth the guide who took us round the park showing us many plants and shared a lot of facts about the wild life as well as Costa Rica.
We highly recommend Jade Tours and Joseth to all who wants good service and knowledgeable guides.

Hi, can you pick us up at Encantada Ocean Cottages in Parreta? Party on 2, interested in the Rainmaker tour tomorrow
Written 23 January 2021
Does most of the wildlife sightings focus on amphibians, insects and birds? Do you typically come across any wild mammals throughout the tour?
Written 10 December 2019
We didn’t see any mammals. Plenty of waterfalls. As someone else posted you will see plenty of monkeys near the beach at Manual Antonio.
Written 11 December 2019
Is the hiking hard? We are not very strong hikers.
Written 11 October 2019
Hiking trails were well done, with railings throughout. They had steps made, sometimes by tires filled with dirt.
I would consider the trail moderate.
But you could stay on the lower trail which accesses most of the waterfalls and pools. Well worth it. As we were leaving there was a pregnant Mom with a 4-5 year old and a 12 year old walking in carrying towels.

I've just made a booking but how do you advice of your hotel for pick up?
Written 29 March 2019
We a 4 year old and 3 yr old in our group. Is this suitable for them, and are they free of charge?
Written 25 March 2019
No.
I would not recommend taking young children on this hike. Some of the steps are high and can be slippery and parts are steep.
