Take the worry out of embarking on a glacier hike by booking this stress-free tour, led by a certified guide and accessible to even those with no experience. Prebook your tour to ensure your preferred time slot and explore the icy wilderness of Vatnajökull glacier in Skaftafell National Park under the watchful eye of your guide who provides safety briefings and all necessary equipment.
What to Expect

At your preferred time, meet your guide at a prearranged location in Skaftafell. After a 15-minute drive, you'll arrive at the tip of the Vatnajökull glacier tongue where your guide provides necessary equipment, including crampons and ice axes, and performs a safety briefing.

As you hike across the ice formations and ridges of Vatnajökull glacier tongue, which is an outlet glacier of the Vatnajökull glacier, Iceland's largest and most voluminous ice cap, learn the basics of rope work and listen as your guide teaches you about the natural phenomena you experience. The area has been formed over thousands of years by volcanic eruptions and on a clear day you can see the highest peak in the country, Hvannadalshnjúkur.

Enjoy ample time to explore the ice sculptures and gaze into deep crevasses and moulins that can reach all the way down to the bottom of the glacier. Your tour ends back at the original departure.
