- RenciaLouw0 contributionsWell worth itWe had Ace as our tour guide and really enjoyed his comments and all the city had to show us. We were fascinated by the history and all the sights we saw. Our 9 year old loved every minute of it and found all the info really interesting. Can really recommend this one as we had a few stops where we could get off to have a good look around and take some pictures.Written 3 October 2024
- 730geoffd0 contributionsVisit AnchorageWe took the trolley tour in Anchorage. The driver was quite informative and humorous. The tour gave a great overview of the city and helped us see that the city is quite walkable. The $45 cost was worth it. The free visitor center at the start/stop is worth visiting; you get a free stamp for your postcard. Also, if Rick(??) is there, ask to see his money collection from around the world. Ever see folding money from North Korea? BTW: We ate lunch at 49th State Brewery downtown and can highly recommend its food and brews. The Bavarian pretzel is one the best ever, including Germany! The views are really nice too. 49th State also has restaurant in the airport, but with limited menu and it isn't nearly as charming.Written 3 October 2024

It gave us a good overall understanding of Anchorage and the fact that we had stellar weather was a bonus.Written 1 October 2024

Upon arrival to the visitor center pick up point I learned the online website information was not correct information as to the "trolley to Native Heritage Center". Online stated how it was more than a ride, there would be information shared along the way to give insight about Anchorage...maybe even Alaska! NOW there is no such thing. There is a shuttle van ride to the NHC and a person who tries to give information but riders seem to want to know where to eat or what to see, or at one stop how to get back to the visitor center. It is about 85% on time either direction. As per a staff person, it is cheaper than UBER ride ($10 vs. $20 one way). FYI, booking online costs you a $1 fee, yet you can pay at the shuttle without the fee. When I rode it there were only 2 other people riding to and 3 others on the return.
