About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Ksarangee0 contributionsAn Extremely Memorable Trip with a Very Friendly Tour Guide and a Great Hosting.Daniel took us to so many places in Olympic National Park i.e. Hurricane Ridge, Elwha River, Madison Falls, Lake Crescent, and Marymere Falls. It was very memorable and set the bar high for tour guides. For breakfast, he brought some amazing pastries and orange juice. He brought magnificent food for lunch and set it down on a tablecloth with silverware and china plates and even brought wine. He went all his way to bring some cake for my birthday and made it the most special it could ever be. The trip was one of the best and I would recommend him for your tours in Seattle. His demeanor brought joy to all of us.Written 11 August 2024
- socprof50 contributionsAttention to DetailDaniel is a great guide and host. He's very knowledgeable and passionate about the park. Hurricane Ridge and Crescent Lake are great destinations. Don't miss the short hikes at each location. You get great views on the Ridge on the hike and you can experience an old growth forest at the Lake walk. Daniel also prepared a wonderful lunch with real silverware and cloth napkins. Don't miss this great tour!Written 27 July 2024
- lisapD5166CQ0 contributionsAmazing experience with a great owner/operator tour guide!I highly recommend this tour. Daniel uses every moment to maximize your learning experience. We were able to see amazing falls, a clear view of Mount Rainier and the lunch experience was hands down one of the best I’ve had in park. Daniel is super smart, friendly and patient!!Written 20 June 2024

- Stephwall0 contributionsPerfect way to tour Olympic National ParkOur day touring with Daniel was beyond wonderful! Daniel is such a great tour guide - well informed and knowledgeable. He has thought of everything - felt like we were spending the day with a friend. Lunch was delicious and it was easy to see that he took great care in providing delicious food & beverages. We loved that our tour maximum was 7. We definitely recommend going with Yonder Sky not only for Olympic National Park, but also for Mt. Rainier.Written 26 July 2023
- nancywK4790AH0 contributionsWhat a Perfect Day!We strongly recommend this tour! It was even better than expected and the highlight of our trip to Seattle! Daniel picked us up (arrived early!) and led us through a delightful day of sightseeing, hiking, and learning. Transport was comfortable and safe and equipped with chargers and refreshments. Our tour ran pretty much exactly as described, with the variations being guest-initiated and to our benefit. (One example: a brief stop to get a pic under the National Park sign on our way in turned into a pit-stop to buy cherries, which we were slated to do on the way out of the park.) The tour felt intimate and relaxed from the start! While broadly knowledgeable about the greater Seattle area and Mt Rainier park, Daniel kept the "instruction" manageable-- not bogged down in facts and detail but specific enough that we have a better understanding of the geography, flora, and fauna of the park. He fielded questions (a LOT of questions) with aplomb and patience and was highly responsive to the group needs. Our family of 4 (parents & two teens) was joined by a second group, a pair of old friends. Daniel chose hikes (walks) that suited the group as a whole and allowed members to move at our own paces. While our family may have opted for a little more vigorous a hike, or maybe a longer hike at the Paradise area, the agenda Daniel set really gave us a good overview of the park, the geography of various elevations, and a sense that we'd seen a lot. One highlight was the walk down to the riverbed, which was refreshing (that cold snowmelt water!) and humbling (the sheer scale of it!). That the weather was *perfect* and everyone we met was smiling certainly contributed to the overall sense of joy. The attention to his guests' experience extended to lunch, which was phenomenal and included a vegetarian & peanut-free meal for our daughter. Served family-style, it was a nice opportunity to sit and get to know one another in a shady picnic spot. I appreciate that Daniel uses all reusable items throughout the trip-- from travel mugs for our coffee to silver wear and cloth napkins at lunch-- reflecting his respect for the land he so obviously loves. By the end of the trip, we all felt as though we'd not only visited a beautiful and important place, but that we'd connected with some beautiful humans, as well. Daniel set a positive and inclusive tone and was engaging and considerate-- he really made it easy to have a great day!Written 10 July 2023
- pcox30 contributionsBest tour I've ever been on!This was by far the best tour of our Seattle/Alaska trip! From pickup on time, to a comfortable van ride, a more than FANTASTIC lunch, beautiful scenery in the park, waterfalls, hiking (easy) with 2 grandparents, a mom and an 11 year old. Daniel was fantastic! The park, the lavender farm, waterfalls, hiking. What a day! You can't go wrong on this great tour with Daniel. It was our best day on our whole 2 week trip!Written 10 June 2023
- FrequentFlier6934650 contributionsTime with a local well spent!Daniel took us on a private tour of Deception Pass and Whidbey Island. The day involved ferries and a lot of driving but the scenery was beautiful. Daniel took us on several good hikes. We also made a stop at Fort Casey which was surprisingly interesting too. He is knowledgeable and knows the history of the area and a lot about the geology and geography in the area. He was personable and utilized the time well.Written 28 May 2023
- Journey533289900830 contributionsA day with a Bainbridge Island local - highly recommend! We had an excellent day in Bainbridge with local Daniel from beginning to end. From the pastries to the tour of the Japanese internment memorial to our stunning Bloedel Reserve (a must) to the gourmet lunch on the beach to the wineries to the shopping stroll to end the day, it was a perfect May day. Daniel is full of historical, local and travel information and we fully enjoyed our day with him. 5 stars!!!Written 19 May 2023
- Santina210 contributionsPerfect DayBest day EVER! Daniel was amazing. From the time he picked us up everything was top notch. Hurricane Ridge was closed but he had other options that were amazing. We were able to visit a Lavendar Farm on the way out. He was so flexible and let us know it was our day. He would give us a time frame if we wanted to stay on schedule but if we decided we wanted to do something else ( like climb to the top of king mountain) we could but we would miss the next stop. He grew up here so knew a lot of the history and was so fun to talk to. He gave us recommendations for the next day and even told us to text him if we had questions. The views were amazing and surprising. It was well worth the money! Would definitely recommend!Written 12 May 2023
- happykarch0 contributionsJust Relax!A perfect day with a knowledgeable guide! My husband and I were fortunate to book the Olympic Park private day tour with Daniel. His communication even before I booked was helpful and responsive. He picked us up from our hotel in a clean and roomy luxury van, provided pastries and refreshments for the ferry ride, and offered fun and interesting information the entire day. He pointed out historical spots and made great conversation. The day was organized, fun, and relaxing because he took care of everything. Lunch was absolutely delicious and we could tell a lot of care had gone into its preparation. We were really impressed with Daniel's attention to detail and his knowledge of the area. We could see how much he loves the Northwest and travel in general. Highly recommend Daniel and Yonder Sky!Written 1 November 2022

- cowboysoup0 contributionsAmazing!!Sometimes you book these at your own peril, not knowing what you will get. This one turned out to be truly amazing. It helps to have a passionate and informative guide, and we had just that. Sarah was superb in every aspect. Beginning by quickly learning everyone's name that was on the tour (9 of us I believe). She continued to use our names for the entire day, not forgetting any. It helped she grew up in the area, and has a sincere appreciation for what she does. You could tell the genuine love she has for this area, and the Park. She had countless stories and examples of cool stuff to see and do, even outside of the tour. It can be difficult to manage a group of people in an orderly way, but she did it less like a heard, and more like a guide. She faced countless questions from the group, and answered all, meaningfully and respectfully. Even when my youngest wanted all her attention during the tide pool exploring, she managed to be there for everyone. From the ferry ride, to the hike to the falls, she was 100% there and engaged. On top of all of that, she was training another individual. Sarah was amazing in every way, and I cant imagine what the tour would have been without her. Book this tour, and ask for Sarah.Written 11 June 2022
- John S0 contributionsFantastic Trip to the Park! The "Excellent" reviews are definitely accurate! Daniel took us into the park and showed us the sights. The views are truly majestic! Daniel was knowledgeable and his commentary spot on. The picnic lunch was elegant and exceeded all expectations. Never felt rushed and Daniel took extra time to ensure that we had plenty of time at each stop.Written 8 June 2022

This tour was the highlight of our trip to Seattle. Daniel was an excellent tour guide! He is friendly, personable, knowledgeable about the area, prepared, and a good safe driver.
Daniel picked us up at our hotel at 7:45am. On the drive to Mt Rainer National Park, he told us about our day, the park and asked what our activity level was so he could gear the tour to meet our needs. We stopped on the way for a bathroom break and had delicious pastries he had picked up from a local bakery. He also provided us with coffee, water, soft drinks, snacks throughout the day.
At the park we went on several guided short hikes, saw three beautiful waterfalls, Paradise and reflection Lake. We even had a chance to explore the lodge there. We had a wonderful gourmet picnic lunch complete with tablecloth, cloth napkins, real plates and wine. After returning to Seattle around 6pm, Daniel dropped us off at the waterfront so we didn’t have to walk there or get an Uber from our hotel.
It was a perfect day and the mountain was visible in all its glory. I highly recommend Daniel with Yonder Sky Tours. He was so great, we did another tour the next day with him to Snoqualmie Falls and Woodinville wineries. Another awesome tour!

From 8am to 6pm we were in good hands. Daniel was attentive to details and flexed our tour to suit the weather and crowds of the day. This made for a very comfortable and seemless experience. Daniel was personable, interesting and inclusive with our group of 6. Continental breakfast, gourmet lunch and planned rest stops added to the quality of the tour. Our family of four adults highly recommend booking your Mt Rainier tour with Seattle native Daniel at Yonder Sky.

This was such a beautiful trip with our guide, Daniel. He picked us up at our hotel, and we were on our way to Mt. Rainier. Daniel is from the area and was able to provide insight on everything we stopped to look at. He found a variety of stunning areas to see on our journey up to Paradise. It was very well rounded, and every stop was perfect. Once we reached Paradise, he gave us time to explore on our own. On the journey back down, we had a wonderful gourmet lunch. Then we made a couple more sightseeing stops. The weather didn’t cooperate with us, so we never got a great view of the top of Mt. Rainer. That’s a risk when booking these trips, but the day was still great. The photos really don’t do it justice.

Daniel is professional, careful, and knowledgeable about everything we saw during the tour. He got everything prepared including food, beverages, and showed up on time to pick me up. And really appreciate the extra attention he gave me since I was on this tour by myself.

Really enjoyed the day and all the beautiful surroundings of Mt. Rainier. Daniel was an excellent guide. He kept the whole group entertained with tits and bits of information from the time we sat in the van. Our group was great and lunch was great.

For anyone visiting (or in our case, re-visiting) Mt Rainier, I highly recommend Yonder Sky Tours owned and operated by Daniel. He was the consummate tour guide and made my 50th birthday trip extra special. We also appreciated someone else doing ALL the driving. We have been here a dozen times, but never before saw these hikes, the Nisqually, and waterfalls where Daniel brought us. Of course we stopped by Paradise and got up close to the Mountain, tons of beautiful wildflowers, and the falls. Parking was crowded there so it was nice to be dropped off and picked up at the start of the trailhead. The gourmet lunch was over the top. So refreshing, and I like that he provided actual plates, glassware, and cloth napkins (small touches that made it so much more enjoyable). He even provided a chocolate mousse raspberry birthday cake and my favorite wine from Chateau St Michelle. Daniel even made an extra stop for us (not normally on this tour) and took us an extra half hour out to Crystal Mountain because Husband and I had so many good memories of skiing there when we lived in WA 20 years ago . He was prompt, polite, attentive, and accommodating. Worth the price. This day tour has been the highlight of our PNW trip! It’s a great way to cover much ground of the National Park in one day.

Daniel was an amazing tour guide. He was friendly and knowledgeable. The food he picked for lunch was amazing!!! It was a rainy and cold day, but we still had a great time! I can already tell this is going to be the highlight of our trip to Seattle!!! I would highly recommend this tour to anyone that wants to make sure they see all of the beauty this National park has to offer.

I booked this tour only about a week prior and had excellent and quick communication from Matt about booking and pick up at our local hotel. I didn't even do much research on the trip and I will admit I was blown away by the tour and the area we saw. I am normally a DIY tour person and I am so glad I booked with Matt and Daniel. Daniel was our guide for the 6 people in the luxury van and we saw so much more than if I had tried to tour on my own. We learned a lot about the area, did some light hikes, saw beautiful waterfalls and visited so many great vistas. Our lunch was wonderful. It was so nice to have real placemats, silverware, cups and plates wine and super tasty food instead of some kind of sack lunch. I will be booking with Yonder Sky again next time we are in the area.

At the end of our vacation to the Pacific Northwest we realized we only had one day to see Mount Rainier and really didn’t feel like driving there from Seattle. I also knew if we drove we wouldn’t see all we could, so after some research I contacted Daniel at Yonder Sky and went yesterday. From beginning to end the experience was professional, fun, and we got to see so much! We were picked up promptly from our hotel in a beautiful Mercedes van by Daniel who pampered us and was so friendly and fun. We were joined by three other clients, for a total of 7 which meant we each got the attention we wanted.
After the drive to Mount Rainier (with a brief stop for pastries and coffee) we entered the park which was magnificent. Daniel has tremendous knowledge of the mountain, perfect hiking spots and the timing to each to maximize the chance of seeing Rainier in its glory before the clouds roll in. During the trip we stopped at 7 or 8 places, some were brief photo stops, some were easy, short hikes. I have a recent hip replacement and another bad hip and was easily able to do all the hikes with no problems. Some were up to a mile or so, but all were on paved or packed earth trails. Daniel took his time and the whole group, ranging from teens to seniors had a good time. Midway through our day we stopped for a delicious picnic in the forest; food was excellent.
I would recommend taking a light sweater or jacket. The day we were there was gorgeous and warm, but when the clouds rolled in I was a bit chilly. All in all, I felt pampered and so blessed to have seen this beautiful National Park with thie individual attention we received from Daniel and Yonder Sky. Now that I’ve been there we plan to return in the future, but even if we don’t I feel we’ve seen Rainier in the best possible way!

Will there be wine? How much walking will we be doing?
Written 11 January 2019
Yes Dan had wine with lunch which we had in the woods and was delicious, hot coffee and pastries in the morning. Dan tries to give you as much to see as possible so it's was short easy walks, think we did about 4 would highly recommend as Dan very knowledgeable about the area and the nature. It was a great day out and would definitely go again should we be lucky enough to visit Seattle again
