Overview
This 6-hour cruise explores Kenai Fjords National Park and visits an actively calving tidewater glacier in beautiful Aialik Bay. A National Park Ranger will be on board to narrate your cruise and point out wildlife such as whales, sea otters, sea lions, puffins, and more. Stop at the mighty Holgate or Aialik Glacier and float among the icebergs as you watch for calving, where giant chunks of ice break off and crash into the ocean. Enhance your cruise with the purchase of an Alaska salmon and prime rib buffet.
Highlights
  • Educational boat tour through Kenai Fjords National Park
  • See at Holgate Glacier and the Chiswell Islands
  • Opportunities to spot wildlife such as puffins, sea lions, and otters
  • Ride in the comfort of a heated cabin with a reserved seat
What to Expect
Make your way to the meeting location, and board a comfortable catamaran equipped with a heated cabin and warm beverages. Set off through Resurrection Bay in Kenai Fjords National Park en route to Holgate or Aialik Glacier, and stop and watch for calving, which is when large chunks of ice break off and crash into the water. Continue past the Chiswell Islands to your second stop at Cape Resurrection (weather dependent), famous for its large population of nesting seabirds such as puffins and cormorants. Other wildlife sightings could include sea lions, sea otters, bald eagles, and mountain goats. Throughout the cruise, take in views of the pristine Alaskan wilderness while learning about the sights from your park ranger guide.

We booked the 7.5 hour cruise. From start to finish, everything about this cruise was run very smoothly and professionally. We were a bit worried that smoke from nearby fires was going to ruin the day, as the view was very limited for the first...More

This was a phenomenal experience. Sea otters, many orca, puffins, harbor seals, sea lions, humpback whale, and a calving glacier, all up close. Excellent food and friendly service, with an informative National Park Service guide.

We were shown the Park from the water and well narrated by a Park Ranger. The wildlife viewing was highlighted by the captain of the vessel and the Park Ranger. The capitain would slow down or stop the vessel for us to observe the wildlife.

I don't think so. Resurrection Bay is fairly calm but when the boat goes out further there can be some swells. There were about 200 passengers on board and I counted four or five people out on the open deck who were... More
