Overview
Learn US history on a guided tour of several New Orleans plantations, including Oak Alley Plantation, Laura Plantation, and Whitney Plantation. During this New Orleans plantation tour combo, pick two plantations to visit and walk the grounds with a guide who can fill you in on the dark history of the time. There’s no need to rent a car as transportation to and from central New Orleans is included.
What to Expect
For this New Orleans plantation tour, meet at the lighthouse at the Steamboat Natchez dock on Toulouse Street near the Mississippi River.

Once you board your comfortable coach bus, ride to the first plantation you selected. During booking, you pick two plantations from a list of three: Oak Alley Plantation, Laura Plantation, and Whitney Plantation.

Your guide tells you the history of each plantation, and shares stories about some of the people who lived on them.

Your plantation tour in New Orleans drops you back at the original meeting point when it ends.

Whitney & Oak Alley

Whitney is devoted entirely to the history of slavery and memorials, very educational an unexpected delight. Oak Alley is more traditional along the lines of 12 Oaks in Gone with the Wind. Magnificent mansion. Their restaurant was a real gem great service, ambiance, and food....More

A Beautiful Visit

Traveling with 2 couples, we chose The Whitney and Oak Alley Plantation. I was most impressed with the tour at The Whitney, which is seen from the eyes of the enslaved children. It was a sobering, touching, ultimately sorrowful tour which in my opinion is...More

Good tour

We had a good tour with Ken. Only issue was the bus was hot and the air conditioning seemed to struggle with a full bus.

Very interesting

We did a tour of Whitney and Laura Plantations. Whitney was informative, but dry. Laura was much better - the story of one woman and her family. The male guide (Kyle?) was terrific; an excellent storyteller who made the experience come to life.

We now have a better understanding of slavery in the sugar plantations. It is history that is confronting and sad.

The Gray Line driver was excellent, informative and entertaining. The tour guides at both plantations were excellent.
