Lafayette Cemetery is closed to visiters
The Lafayette cemetery is closed till further notice. If that is the important part of the tour consider something else. That being said we did look through the fence to the different sites inside the gates. Wonderful tour with Sarah. She was very knowledgeable about the area and history She has an energetic and fun presentation. Pace was fine, sidewalks are "textured" so may not be easy if you have problems walking

    The best of NOLA!
I was in town from Salem, MA visiting New Orleans for the weekend. When I was first planning which tours to take, there were over 200 different options and it was quite overwhelming. I booked Tours by Steven based on the excellent reviews. From the very beginning, the staff have been nothing but professional and courteous. Because of the collapse of the Hard Rock hotel nearby, my scheduled cemetery tour was canceled on Saturday. This was beyond the control of the tour companies. I was contacted by a member of the staff who was wonderful! She gave me some other options, was very kind and understanding, and helped me rebook another tour for that day. I took the Garden District tour with Teri and had a wonderful time. She was knowledgeable, enthusiastic and gave a great two hour tour, visiting some of the most beautiful homes in NOLA. I saw places I would have never seen if I hadn’t taken the tour. On Monday, I finally was able to enter the St Louis No 1 cemetery on a tour with Betsy. She made sure our group could hear her, answered our questions and was extremely informative....and she had a great sense of humor! Overall, it was a wonderful experience on my two tours with Tours by Steven. Highly recommend!

    Overall good tour
The tour overall was good. The guide was knowledgeable about the houses that we stopped at. I just wish we were able to go into the cemetery since it is sold as part of the tour, but besides that was really good. Would recommend.

    Fun tour!
Enjoyed learning a bit of the history of New Orleans, the Garden District and cemeteries, especially Lafayette #1. Our guide, Sarah, was full of information and so enthusiastic, which made the tour more fun! The cemetery is closed now with no known re-opening date, but you can learn about it just the same and look from the gates. The district is beautiful with colorful houses, ornate iron and well-kept landscaping. Worth a visit!

    Betsy is the One!
Our tour guide Betsy did an outstanding job of giving us an engaging and informative tour. She avoids the rumors and speculative stories, because the real history is scintillating enough! Now we know why we don't want touch things with a 10' pole... Authentic, fun and delightful tour that makes your mind wonder and gives you a desire to learn more about a one of a kind city; NOLA. A memorable tour, we are still talking about months later.

Smaller tour groups = a better experience
We booked with Tours by Steven to see the St. Louis Cemetery #1, because they have smaller tour groups - and we were glad we did. There were some very large groups with other companies, and it would have been difficult to hear, etc. The history is very interesting along with the burial customs & reasons for them. Hint: Just be sure that none of your other tours visit any cemeteries - you only need to hear this info once.

    St. Louis Cemetery #1
Our tour guide, Lauren, brought the perfect balance of reverence for the people laid to rest here and telling the story of how death is handled, historically and today, in a place where in-ground burial isn't possible. Lauren has clearly done her research and knows the material. She is careful that everyone can hear her without being disrespectfully loud. She handled questions with grace.

    Cemetary tour
Highly recommend this tour company! Terri, our guide was very informative. We also appreciated that our group was significantly smaller than other groups in the cemetary. Terri explained that Steven's limits their group size to 18 vs 28 like many of the others. This allowed all of us to hear her and navigate the cemetary much easier.

    Excellent tour
Lauren was our guide. She was very knowledgeable and respectful. There were several of these tours offered for 1/2 the price. This was definitely worth paying more for!

Interesting and engaging despite the heat and humidity
Our group really loved this tour. We were a group of 9 20somethings. We learned so much history and culture of NOLA. Our tour guide was absolutely amazing. She had a lot of fun facts and knew a ton of history. She also was very aware of other groups and moved us to shady quiet areas so that we could hear her. I would highly recommend this tour!

A history buff geeked out for us!
John was amazing. Even though he is a transplant to New Orleans he was able to bring us all of the history and detail we needed to visit the garden district. I was a little worried at the beginning. The weather was perfect but even in the gentle sun it was warm and John rambled on a bit long about the cemetery we couldn't enter. (Will the city ever reopen it?). However, his neediness over history really gave us the background to understand the city and her lovely French/Spanish/American influences over the years. Awesome job John! On our travels around the district John shared great information and was very cognizant of our group and the neighborhood. It was a pleasant easy paced walk and John made sure there was the ability for people to skip out a house or two while they found a bathroom (when we went near one). John was pleasant to listen to and very knowledgable.
