Overview
Nowhere is Louisiana’s wildlife more abundant than in the swamps and bayous of New Orleans. Take a boat ride through these swamps and bayous and be on the lookout for alligators, raccoons, snakes, turtles and native birds. Hear stories from your guide about local Cajun culture and the mysteries of the swamps and bayous.
Highlights
  • Travel deep into the Louisiana swamps with a guide
  • Safely search for alligators under the guide’s supervision
  • Stay dry in rainy weather with a covered boat
  • Convenient round-trip transportation from the French Quarter included
  • Choose from multiple departure times to fit your schedule
What to Expect
Your tour starts with pickup in New Orleans’ French Quarter. Relax on the bus ride out to the bayous, leaving the navigation and driving to someone else. Once you reach the area, board a covered boat with your guide, and take to the swampy waters. Listen as your guide informs you about the area’s history and ecology, and get the opportunity to spot alligators and other wildlife native to the bayous.  Some wildlife are more easily spotted during the warmer months of the year. Learn about the local culture, such as the origin of gumbo, and how the area’s residents work hard to guarantee the survival of the wetlands. Snap pictures of the swamps to take home, and gain a better understanding of this beautiful, often-misunderstood area. Your tour ends with a drive back to the French Quarter.

As advertised. Fun and informative. Breezy on the boat. Sometimes harmless fish jump in the boat. Lots of alligators.

worth money to do. We paid cheaper for a big boat. I like it better than a smaller boat that cost $79 because smaller boat does not have shade covering us from the Sun. I would have been burned without the roof. Pick up by...More

How can we get a better response than your "EXCELLENT TOUR". It is very appreciated.

The seating is 3 to a bench, so it can be difficult to see the bayou. Throwing marshmallows to get gators to come close to the boat seems like the alligators are trained. While the guide/driver of the boat allows the opportunity to hold a...More

We are a bit confused when you said the boat went nowhere. Can you share at guestexperiences@glnosc.com the day and name on your reservation so we can address this with the guide on the swamp boat.

Our driver picked us up at the hotel and gave us a great deal of info about the city of New Orleans before we headed out for the eco tour, which was wonderful. Our river guide was extremely knowledgeable about all things swamp — birds,...More

We booked the trip before leaving the UK. You get a voucher & exchange it for the tickets at the Tour Operator's kiosk on the waterfront in NO. Bus then picks you up at an agreed time
