The grounds were great and served as a nice memorial to the slaves that built and ran the property. However the house tour was a bit underwhelming. I've seen some incredible homes in Louisiana refurbished to their former astetic. I was excited to see this one as it was the largest home I've seen. You don't get a tour of the whole house (the third floor is completely blocked off) and you have serious restrictions on which rooms you can enter. The refurbishing effort by the current owners could be improved. The old spiral staircase was removed and replaced with a straight one by a former owner, why don't they rebuild the spiral staircase? I'm sure it would add so much the experience.

I'd really like to come back if further work is done on the house and more of the rooms are opened up. Some aspects were great, such as the beautiful views on the second floor balcony.

If you're looking for a great home to tour I highly recommend the Gallier home in the French Quarter of New Orleans.

While we do not run the house or any of the attraction, we can share this with the non-profit that attend to it. You might want to reach out to them with your suggestions.

Guided tour of the house was good. They don’t allow pictures inside the house, but you’re allowed to take plenty outside. Hardly any original furniture. I also read the tour would be done by people in costume. There were no costumed guides. Tour was very short in the house, but you have a decent amount of time to go around the outside area and take pictures of the trees. Bus ride is 1 1/2 hours ride back was much longer as you may hit a traffic jam.

I am not sure where you found the costume docents, they were discontinued before Covid. We will make sure it is not on our website. As plantations were working farms they are a distance outside of the city. It was most likely a full day ride by horse and buggy in hoop skirts and wool suits for those generations.

What an amazing trip. The plantation was beautiful beyond words, and the history of the life on the plantation made you feel as if you were actually living it. Just to walk around the grounds and through the gardens was so serene. Looking out from the top balcony at the rows of trees was by far my favorite view. I could have sat there all day just looking up the drive.

You captured the feeling that many people share. You can see why these families had homes in the city, with this to come back to for the quiet nature.

The actual plantation tour was enjoyable but the transportation and the driver was awful. The driver did not know where he was going and passed by us before finally just calling us to meet at the corner. The bus was not air conditioned and it was an hour ride to the plantation. The driver did not communicate with us or tell us what was happening. He did not get back on the bus early to even try to cool off the bus before we got back on. He had to drive with the door open because it was way too hot on the bus. He did not even apologize. It was very disappointing. The tour of the big house was very good and they were great. It was beautiful.
