Chinese Fishing Nets is an unusual device used for fishing, mainly in Kerala. It is also known as Cheenavala and these massive nets have their origin in China and are still used to catch fish in Cochin. Watch the fishermen as they cast the nets and pull in the fresh catch of the day. The entire process takes less than an hour. Spend that time talking to the fishermen or clicking a few photographs to remind you of this interesting day. The best part is that there are stalls on the side where you can take the freshly caught fish and they fry it up for you to devour.

Day 2: Drive to Munnar and visit Athirapally waterfalls on the way

Day 3: Explore Munnar

Stop At: Rajamalai (Eravikulam) National Park, Munnar India
The Eravikulam National Park is the first National Park in Kerala. It is the ideal habitat of the endemic Nilgiri Tahr. At Eravikulam you will find as many as 26 species of mammals. The most prominent of all is Nilgiri Tahr, Elephants, Langur, Marten, Small-clawes Otter, Tigers and Leopards. Eravikulam national park is also famous for Neelakurinji flower know for blooming once in 12 years.

Please note: Eravikulam National Park remains closed from February to March.

Day 4: Drive to Thekkady and proceed for a boat cruise (on direct payment) at Periyar Lake

While in Periyar, proceed for a boat cruise (on direct payment) at Periyar Lake in Thekkady. If you are lucky, you may get a glimpse of various wild animals playing around the lake.
