The trail leading to the entrance of Lower Antelope Canyon is composed of Navajo sandstone making the decent to the canyon entrance both rocky and sandy, for our guests’ safety and comfort we advise appropriate shoes be worn. As you begin your 1 – 1.5-hour adventure (all-walking) with Lower Antelope Canyon Tours, your experience will span roughly 1,800 meters (1.1 miles) round trip. Upon descending down five flights of stairs (35 meters) into the largest cavern of the tour, guests’ will begin their majestic ascent through the kaleidoscope of colors naturally provided by the unique creation of Navajo Sandstone, as a result of rain, wind, and erosion. The numerous echelons throughout the canyon consist of eight uniquely built ladders (with handrails) for safety.

- L2330VQjuliec0 contributionsBeautiful and interesting and fun!Loved this one! Loved that it's underground (as opposed to Upper Antelope Canyon) so you have to climb downstairs and squeeze through narrow spaces! Our children loved it - "it was pretty cool". The colours are amazing and depending on when you go, the lighting is different so your photos will be different. Guide knew good places for photos and put my phone on warm filter to get the photos you see online! We were on an 8.45am tour. Seemed to be good timing. As the day goes on, the guide told us the light shines though more strongly in certain places. There's only two operators - Ken and Dixie - they offer the same thing, just at different times.Written 20 August 2024

- BeverlyB2050 contributionsAmazing tour and guidesI wish I could give 10 stars for this tour! We did the Lower Antelope Canyon with Ala as our guide. About halfway through my husband began experiencing heat exhaustion . When she recognized what was happening she immediately had him to sit down and gave him electrolytes and glucose along with water. 2 other employees named Citrine and Mariah came to help with cold packs and a wet scarf. Ala even had another guide take over our group and stayed with us and all 3 fanned us until he felt that he could continue. We finally were able to complete the tour with all 3 girls looking out for us. Ala was so sweet to take pictures at all the perfect photo spots with us and for us. I felt like we got a private tour. I recommend this tour to all my friends and family.Written 16 July 2024

We planned our trip to the area to ensure we were able to visit Antelope Canyon since it is something we have wanted to do for several years.
We did some research prior to our trip and decided on Dixie Ellis Canyon Tours. We planned to make our reservation online but noticed they offered a Veterans discount so we ended up making our reservations over the phone to take advantage of the discount. The person on the phone was helpful and informative and we were immediately provided with an e-mail confirmation which included all the details such as what time to arrive, suggestions on dressing for the tour, etc.
We were able to find the office easily. We had completed the waivers online the night before and had our QR codes ready. We were asked if we wanted to join an earlier tour that was starting in about five minutes and we replied, yes. We proceeded to the outdoor patio area where we watched a Navajo man dance with various hoops before being introduced to our tour guide, Ryan.
We proceeded to walk towards the lower canyon and Ryan provided us with information about the canyon and area. We were with a group of 8 people and it felt like a good size group as we proceeded through our tour. It allowed us to ask questions and get to know each other a bit as well.
Immediately as we proceeded down the stairs we were in awe of the canyon itself and the beautiful colors and textures. I think we both had a general idea based on pictures we had seen but it is a different experience to actually be down walking through and taking your own pictures. We also appreciated that Ryan provided guidance and tips on how to get the best pictures using my wife's iPhone.
The tour itself lasts about 60 minutes and was incredible. We felt the cost is reasonable and we really appreciated the experience. Ryan did a great job and we were impressed with the overall operation of the business.

We took a tour with Dixie's Lower Antelope Canyon, with Charm as our tour guide. This experience exceeded our expectations in every way. The weather was cold & cloudy, with snow flurries in the area, and I was concerned the weather may negatively impact our tour (visibility, lighting, enjoyment). The Lower Antelope Canyon is underground - we were comfortable temp-wise (with jackets and gloves) and the light snowfall actually made the experience feel magical. The orange, wavy formations were stunning and the length of the tour felt perfect and relaxed. The Lower Antelope Canyon was easy to access via a series of narrow ladders that took you down/up. Our tour guide was informative and incredibly sweet....explaining the history, formation and so many unique things about the lower canyon, as well as her Navajo history (which we especially loved). We learned so much! She was also wonderful about taking pictures of everyone in our tour group, from the best vantage points and with amazing lighting. Due to covid, the number of people in the canyon was significantly limited and there was only a few people in our group. Although the canyon was very narrow, we did not see the other tour groups in the canyon as everyone was spaced out nicely. It felt like we had the canyon to ourselves!
We were fortunate enough to have tours of both the Upper and Lower Antelope Canyon during our stay in Page, AZ and I would say BOTH were stunningly beautiful....I might have preferred the Lower simply due to the fact that our tour guide was amazing and made our experience that much more enjoyable.
I would recommend getting tickets early as these tours do sell out. We needed to change the day/time of our tour when we arrived in Page a day early and this company was able to accommodate our request.
Note: Navajo Nation does have strict mask wearing guidelines so we were required to wear masks for the entire tour, even for pictures. But, when we learned how hard hit the Navajos have been from the pandemic, we were happy to comply. I would highly recommend Dixie's Lower Antelope Canyon Tour!

We arrived at Dixie's at around 11 in the morning. After confirming our reservation and waiting for the tour to start, a Navajo native showcased his native hoop dance to the tour group. We were then asked to line up and 9 of us were grouped with Mr. Orin Yellowman. He was such an amazing tour guide! He described to us the history of the antelope canyon in such a way that made us feel amazed to be inside a place that took thousands of years to form. He also gave us tips on how to take good pictures and pointed to us spots that put our imagination to work. He even took picture perfect family portraits of us. I hope we get the chance to visit again!

I've seen pictures and heard stories of Antelope Canyon for years and it has always been a destination on my list of places to visit. I finally had the opportunity to make it out to Arizona but did not have a tour lined up. I spent a great amount of time researching tour companies and this one, Dixies Lower Antelope Canyon Tours, consistently was at the top of travel lists. I booked the tour, we arrived very early and they graciously accommodated us with an earlier tour. What luck was that because we had the BEST tour guide I've ever had in all my travels. Mr. Yellowman is so knowledgable of the canyon and the area. He shared the history of the canyon, all the BEST photo spots and was a joy to speak with. I can't stress enough how great his eye for photography is and the pictures he took for us were breathtaking and more than I could have imagined. We were bummed at first because it was such a cloudy day, but Mr. Yellowman let us know cloudy days, not sunny days, are most ideal for for photo taking in the canyon and he couldn't have been more accurate. A huge shout of to him and this amazing tour company! Thank you for the great experience!

We enjoyed our tour of the Lower Antelope Canyon. We arrived early to Dixie's, per instructions, and were offered an earlier tour. Originally booked for the 8:15am tour, we opted to take the offered 7:45am tour. I didn't think there would be much difference in lighting inside the canyon and we wanted the extra half hour for travelling to the Grand Canyon later that day. Our tour guide, I don't recall his name, was a young Navajo man and I believe this was his first solo tour. Still, he knew the canyon, pointed out the sights, helped with photo ops, and even tried to teach us a few words of the Navajo language. The hike wasn't bad though the canyon can get narrow, but manageable for a big man. Some of the ladders are steep but they are secured quite well into the canyon walls. Thanks to COVID protocols the tour groups were limited in size and that probably made the experience even better.

We were so pleased with the tour guide, Oliver, who is very passionate, knowledgeable and professional. We did only find out it was a private tour (we were a small group with 5 people). Oliver was very patience in taking time show us how to take all the fantastic photos in a specific angle. All of us did enjoy the tour very much. Oliver knew that we had booked another tour with the Upper Canyon and always keep us updated with how much time we have. We had completed our tour with a half hour break without any rush at all. The entire tour takes about one hour 20 minutes. We all loved the tour at the Lower Antelope Canyon compared to the Upper Canyon, if you are flexible to climb up and down with the built in ladders and would highly recommend Oliver to be your tour guide.

Everything about this experience was amazing. When i first wanted to book this tour i had some questions (we have 4 kids ages 8, 6, 5, and 3). The staff was extremely helpful and after answering questions about being able to use the toddler hiking carrier, the best time of day to go in the heat of summer and a general idea of what to expect we booked.
Upon arrival check in was easy (be aware of the time change your phone and car may show. They’re on the same time as the rest of Arizona!). We met our guide, Stacy, outside and she was very informative with what we needed to know before beginning. Currently the company is limiting tours to 7 people, and being a family of 6 we ended up with a private tour! It made our experience feel so personalized! Once down in the canyon (there are lots of ladders but our kids did great!) we were shocked. I’ve seen photos but nothing can prepare you for what you see and feel. Stacy spent so much time answering all of our questions, pointing out details and shapes, taking a photo shoot worth of pics of us and the canyon and doing this all while still leading us along the tour! She was kind, professional, extremely knowledgeable and so patient as we all took on the wonder around us. We learned so much about her experiences and tribe, and i honestly wished we could have taken a tour the second time with her today! While the beauty around us left us in awe, it was her caring nature and joy in sharing this place with us that made it even better. Thank you Stacy and the rest of the team at Dixie!

I have been on the Dixie Ellis tour 4 times to Lower Antelope Canyon when friends are in the area and want something spectacular to do. I never tire of the ever changing dynamics in the canyon as the sunlight moves through the formations. We toured at 10:15am on March 7th, 2020. It was partly cloudy but the lighting inside was good. Our tour guide was Chavez Lefthand. Chavez was an excellent guide. He pointed out sandstone formations I had not seen before. He helped us take photo's from the best viewing angles and also took photo's of our group. He moved us through the tour at a good pace but never rushed us along. Having 10 people in each time slot also helps as does no professional photographer groups that slow down the tours going through the slot canyon. Dixie Ellis has a very generous refund policy. They have added a Native ceremony pre-tour which was an added bonus. I would go again in a heartbeat.

Absolutely disappointed with the Lower Antelope Canyon tour by Dixie Ellis. Disorganized and rude.
It all started with the fact that upon arrival at the beginning of the tour, we found out that it was forbidden to shoot video inside the canyon. You can take photos, but no video. What nonsense? To my question "Why?" I didn't get a clear answer except that "Our company has such rules." But when I booked tickets in their description, not a word was said about the ban on filming a video. This is a lie! And all the time the guide ran up to the participants and shouted that they should not film the video.
Further.
The Lower Canyon is quite narrow. The organizers failed to properly ensure the normal passability of the groups. Therefore, people accumulated at each corner and stood for 10 minutes waiting for the group ahead to pass further.
Well, the icing on the cake was the ban on removing masks for a short time to take a photo. Of course, I understand everything, but now it is 2022 and the wave of an active pandemic is long gone. The guides just followed the group members and ran back and forth shouting that they did not take off their masks for the photo. With all this, the mask could be removed to drink water. What kind of nonsense?
Before that we were in the Upper Antelope Canyon. So there the organization and approach to tourist groups was much better.
Ultimately the tour to the Lower Canyon proved to be nervous and frustrating. We paid money to feel like criminals who need surveillance. Simply unacceptable!
I do not recommend this company to anyone.

Me and my 10 year old LOVED this tour! Know there are steep steps down and no backpacks or camera bags unless they are clear and masks required. All that is worth it! Breathtaking scenery not seen elsewhere. Tony was a fantastic guide, he’ll say he’s not your photographer BUT then he asks if you want your picture taken and shows you ways to take great pics using an iPhone. He was so nice to both of us. They don’t charge much for what it takes to run the tours and the extra time they take to ensure safety after a rainstorm. Pay the fee and make a donation. Great company! They even refunded my husband who was sick (with 24 hrs notice) and let us jump in the earlier tour since we didn’t set our clocks to AZ time. Great people, beautiful scenery.

Would someone who is claustrophobic feel comfortable on the tour?
Written 15 January 2022
One’s emotional, physiological response would be relative, I think. While navigating the space may feel narrow to some, but there’s so much space in front and above. Tons of photos are posted in this site as well as anywhere in the web - hopefully they would offer additional info to help one make the decision whether it’s worth the experience, or not. Good luck!
Written 16 January 2022
No. They were very clear that you will be escorted out if you remove your mask for any reason other than a quick drink of water. For what it's worth, we took water and never drank any. That probably comes into play more in the summer months.

Hello. Is this baby friendly? I have a 1 year old and we can place him in the baby carrier. Would this hike be okay?
Written 15 September 2021
I didn't see any babies on our tour. There are very steep & narrow stairs you'll be descending from. I don't think it's advisable but you can call to make sure.
