We downloaded this self-guided review as well as the NPS MP3 audio clips for Glacier. This GuideAlong audio was superior in multiple aspects, providing more information about the history, geology, flora and fauna of Glacier than the NPS audio clips. The narrator was also engaging with witty remarks and clever turns of phrase that made the clips more interesting. He also helped us decide where we wanted to stop and what we wanted to do at various points long the Going-To-The-Sun road.

This tour is a cost effective, informative and entertaining option for a guided tour through the park. It works especially well for people who do not like to do group tours since you can go at your own pace and choose the things you want to see more or less of. The narrator also provides useful geography and historical information along the ride.
If you purchase in advance and look through the provided resources the itenerary planner is also a nice bonus to save you a considerable amount of time searching the internet for suggestions on how to maximize your time in the parks. After I bought this tour I purchased the tours for Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons and it made my last minute trip planning an absolute breeze and allowed me more time to spend in the park as opposed to sitting back at camp planning the activities for the next day.

This guide along tour was amazing! So worth the purchase! My son and I used it every time we came into Glacier national park. The guy who narrates is very descriptive and kinda funny at times which makes it easy to listen to. Love that you can pause anytime and he always knows exactly where you are inside the park even though there’s no cell service. He gives so much history of the park and all the places to stop for pull offs and trails/hikes too. Great app!!

We tried to get into the Red Bus tour which looks iconic in Glacier but all were booked. So this self guided tour looked like a good option. It really is well done. Following you by GPS it does a nice job of letting you know the history and when good photo ops are coming up. We started it in East Glacier with GTS road and Many Glacier. Then again a few days later from West Glacier on GTS. It was a bit finicky on the music playing between commentary and on the second half, it kept repeating the same two songs.
The guide was interesting and entertaining. On one of the rainy days we passed a very steamy looking bus tour and felt pretty good about our $12.00 tour in our comfortable truck.

Hi Robert, thanks for sharing how much you enjoyed listening to our audio tour as you explored Glacier National Park from the comfort of your own vehicle! The tours are designed to be quite chatty, and the app works in background mode so that you can play music of your choosing along the way. If you do play music, it will either duck or pause the music when you reach the next audio point, depending on the platform you're using. We recommend launching your music app, and then launch the tour - and ideally leave the tour map as the live screen. Please note that some vehicle/phone combos have compatibility issues - but mostly it works great. We hope to join you on the road again soon.

We found the guide along tour to be very well narrated and worked well with GPS. Guided tours are very costly and with this option we could go at our own pace. We will definitely try this in other national parks, etc.

Our tour from West Glacier was cancelled due to the construction, so we decided to go with this. Amazing tool! Really informative and great history/background. We did the whole Going to the Sun Road and back. There are alot of repeat stories on the way back, but the views at another angle were awesome. Would highly recommend if you're trying to save some money and do something on your own. It was our first time at Glacier, but we will definitely be back!

This worked really well! It was informative and fun. Even inside the park, when you lose cellphone service, the downloaded tour continued to know exactly where the car was. I noticed on the return trip, that, while the tour pointed out the same spots along the route, it wasn’t exactly the same info conveyed about each point along the way. Would definitely recommend.

Best $11 I ever spent. The narrated tour improved our enjoyment of the park and especially the Going To The Sun Road. The tour self activated based on our GPS location do no fumbling with turning it on and off. All we had to do was drive, listen and enjoy.

I used the self-guided tour for driving "the road to the Sun" in Glacier National Park. I found it a great experience having a narrator right in the car, warning me of hairpin turns and points of interest. I had my 2 teenage granddaughters along and they were not even tempted to look at their electronics during the entire ride! As the driver, I was white knuckling most of the 53 miles, so I might otherwise have missed some of the interesting spots the narrator pointed out. We all enjoyed the little history lessons about the construction of the road.
I will definitely use this tour option on future travels.

I liked it a lot and will use the service again. There was so much information that would have been missed. The location and direction timing was perfect.
The dire predictions about the consequences of disappearing glaciers are alarming. The narrative also said that the melting glaciers have exposed 5000 year old Indian camps. Wouldn't that mean that 5000 years ago the glaciers were near, or below, their current level?

Thanks for sharing how much you enjoyed the commentary, locations and directions through Glacier National Park. There's so much interesting history about the glaciers and wildlife in the park W- including the wildfires and melting glaciers that have revealed evidence of the Blackfeet ancestors' bison hunts going back almost 5,000 years. Park researchers has discovered bison bones, skulls, teeth and more, and the NPS has some really interesting articles of different discoveries on their website! We hope to join you on the road again soon.

Are any closures or restrictions on Going-to-the-Sun Road or other key routes in Glacier National Park that could affect the driving tour? Is the road fully accessible for vehicles?

I purchased and downloaded the self-guided tour early in the Spring when I purchased my airline tickets and hotel for the trip, and I didn’t go to Glacier NP until the last week of June this year. I believe there is a time limit once you have accessed the tour, but you should be able to use it over the course of several days. In driving the Going-to-the Sun Rd in the park I went through the tour both ways.

Does this self guided tour include the 2.00 vehicle pass to enter the Going to the Sun Road? I know it doesn't include the national park pass but can't see anything about the vehicle pass

An easy way to get access to the park (along with the NP pass) is with a reservation for an hour-long boat ride on Lake McDonald. If you book a reservation for a boat ride, you have access to the park for that entire day.
