Old Savanna Trolley Tour: Historic On & Off Tour
Advertises Historic characters brought to life during the tour and we did not see one character on the trolley. Characters are advertised to board the trolley on the Trolley website and on their brochure. Contacted Old Savannah Tours because we were disappointed . Although we paid for on and off price, we remained on the trolley for the duration of our tour. So no, we did not see characters board our trolley. Contacted tour company and they responded that they “would look into it”. This is unacceptable and is false advertisement. We should have been informed when we purchased 4 adult tickets .

        Great overview of Savannah!
This was a great way to get an overview of the historic areas of Savannah. Our driver was a lot of fun and gave some great info. We rode the whole route, got off at the last stop, and then just walked from place to place. The distance is walkable for us so we did not use the hop off/hop on feature, but were glad for the overview of the area. Note from info on the website . . . we did not see any dressed up characters as described.

The guide was awesome. It helped us get a lay of the land so we knew what we wanted to see on our own afterward. Stopped at a great restaurant, and they gave some good suggestions of what to see. Worth it. Did have to wait a little longer than expected at one stop.

Enjoyable 1 day tour in Savannah, Ga
We learned so much about the history; culture of Savannah, Ga. The trolley experience was very convenient. The tour guides were all great but thank you Cainan who made the tour most enjoyable! The food was excellent at Cotton Exchange!

We went to Savannah for 2 nights in January. The trolley wasn’t crowded and the drivers were very knowledgeable. January was a great time go since not Crowded.

        Convenient Trolley tour transportation.
Extremely convenient, easy, educational, and entertaining. I would definitely use this form of transportation again and I would recommend others to do the same.

        Weekend historic getaway
There were only 2 characters and it was the drivers last day. Drivers were excellent! They all had different information about the city and were funny. You could tell they all loved their jobs and were optimistic about the future.

This was a great tour! Gertrude and Tasha were great tour guides. The story telling is engaging and the characters that come in the bus transport you to the past. It’s the best way to see beautiful Savannah and learn of its colorful history. What a great company with great hospitality!

        Just don’t do it!
This was actually painful to sit through. Beyond disappointed, not worth the money. I felt like I was being guided around by elementary students who had tried to write a play and were performing for their parents. Don’t waste your time or money. So disappointing that we will not book any other experiences through this company.

This tour and dinner was fantastic. The one hour trolley tour hosted by Captain DuBois and his trusty driver - Captain Rita, went by some of the beautiful mansions in Savanah. They were pretty on the outside, but our host told stories of darkness and spirits that lurked on the inside. The trolley was met by three scary actors, who told their stories of murder and mayhem. After the one hour ride through the city, the group was taken to the Pirate House restaurant for dinner. The food was great. And afterwards, we were led down to the basement, where drunken sailors were kidnapped and put on ships. The price was very reasonable - considering your getting a ghost tour, dinner in a top notch restaurant, transportation and entertainment for three hours.

If you get Nelson, aka “Nelvis,” as your guide, you’ll be in for a real treat! While other general/historical tours of Savannah may have briefly touched on some of these stories, this tour focuses on the paranormal and macabre history of the city. Dinner at the Pirates House was the primary reason we went with this tour as opposed to the others and it did not disappoint.
Do note that the dinner options come from a preset menu but the famous pecan crusted chicken is included as an option (and I highly recommend!). While most at our table opted for the chicken, those who chose a different option were also pleased with their food. Be warned, the portions are massive and a takeaway box will likely be required- so come hungry!

Oh, and don’t forget to ask “Nelvis” to perform his best Elvis impersonation for you!

Everybody had a good time. Our trolley was full with folks who ranged in ages from 8 -70+. Our “dead” pirate guide was charming and told a lot of corny jokes, which kept the group on its toes all the time. We got a great education on the ghosts who haunt Savannah’s mansions.

It could have been great, but wasn’t. First, we got a call saying they were overbooked and had to change the date. Then, they booked us on the night of the Shamrock Run, so most of the streets in the historic district were closed, meaning we couldn’t see the sights normally seen on the tour. We were told our tour would be “truncated.” My opinion is if you cannot fulfill your obligations, don’t schedule on that night at all. Finally, the Pirate House meal was horrible. No one in my party could eat the food, and we are not picky eaters. If you were on the ghost tour, your menu options were limited, so I don’t know about the restaurant menu in its entirety. The guide and two ghost actors we did get to see were great, but I’m unhappy that this ghost tour company took my money and didn’t give us what we paid for.

We apologize for your disappointment. Unfortunately, sometimes when you purchase through a third party, they do not let us know, and our tour fills up. The Ghost Tour with dinner is our most popular ghost tour, and it fills up really quickly. Sorry for the inconvenience.

I have participated in ghost tours in most cities I have visited. This tour was okay, primarily if you don't want to walk. It is definitely not a spooky or intimate tour. The trolley is loud and so the guide, despite having a microphone, has to speak loudly to talk over the bus. The tour started with an hour-long drive around the historic district, followed by about an hour stop at the Pirate's house for dinner and a visit down into the "haunted" rum cellar, with an additional short drive with a few more stories before drop-offs. The dinner was okay, but since you are there on a pre-paid tour you have limited menu options. My husband and I both got the fried chicken and we agreed that if we had known it was bone-in we may have gone with another dish. It is a good option of you don't want to walk, like less spooky stories, and have time in your trip to visit many of the other wonderful restaurants that Historic Savannah has to offer. We knew we wanted to eat at the Pirate's House at some point and had already visited several of the other historic restaurants, so this worked for us.

As a lover of ghost tours, my takeaway from this experience is that I don't know if I like trolley tours, personally. However, some people (like my husband) may prefer this to walking and standing for long periods of time...

It is also important to note that as of 9/14, the meeting point listed on Trip Advisor is not correct. They have moved locations, so if you go to the old building you will see a sign on the door directing you to the right spot. Make sure to listen to their directions when they call to confirm your tour.

Do not be fooled by the 4 and 5 star reviews. This was the most boring and generic tour. It briefly mentioned ghosts but mostly it was a generic mentions of a few random Savannah facts. The absolute worst part of this whole experience was the guest service. I received a confirmation call at 11:51am day of to confirm our reservation and meeting spot. We were told to meet at 215 W Boundry at 6:45pm. The representative repeated the time and the address. We showed up at 6:40pm to a hand written sign on the door stating we needed to meet a mile in the direction we just walked from. Now, we’re obviously tourists in a town that is designed to be walked. With that being said, we should not have been told to meet at one place when clearly that building has been closed for a while, then be expected to walk back in the opposite direction. When we called the customer service number Sabrina informed us we should never have been told to meet there as that building is “in disrepair”. She then said she will send a shuttle and hung up on me. I called back to confirm the shuttle only to be hung up on again. I promise you, there are so many better options for tours. Don’t waste your time and money on this less than mediocre “tour” which is essentially the tour guide laughing at his own jokes and telling you to go on other tours that actually go into the houses. And if you this the food and tour of the Pirate House will make it worth it, it doesn’t.

So sorry to hear about your experience. We are sorry for the miscommunication for location. We recently moved our ghost tour meeting point from 215 West Boundary Street to 255 Montgomery St. It happened a few weeks ago, and during that transition, there were likely issues with location. We sincerely apologize for that. We are also very sorry to hear that the tour you were on was generic and boring. We try to provide a fun ghost tour for our guests. Sorry this was not the case here.

The operator of this tour should be ashamed that they had the audacity to charge their customers for our tour and dinner on Friday, March 1. To begin with, it is a well-known fact in Savannah that this is the night of a big race so all of the squares and the surrounding streets have been closed down to road traffic. as such, our tour was diverted to neighborhoods away from the squares. In addition, our two hour ghost tour was shortened to 50 minutes. To top it off, when we finally got to the pirate house for dinner, the kitchen lost our orders, and we did not end up getting our food until One hour later. Our food was so late, that we did not have adequate time. to tour the rum cellar. The tour attendant alluded to the fact that the tour company was unaware that the race was going to take place on this night, which is a bunch of crap. This race had to have been planned for months even years in advance, and the fact that they took our money as they did, shortened our trip with total disregard for our time and money is, nothing short of robbery. The tour was disorganized, rushed and obviously thrown together at the last minute. They should never have booked a tour on this specific Friday night, knowing that the race was going to take place and how it would impact their customers experience. Talk about a total rip off! We should be offered a partial refund for their blatant disregard of our time and money spent.

This experience I took with Sam the Dread Pirate was amazing. This was my second time going on a ghost tour and I had so much fun. This was very interactive and was a great way to grab the attention of the audience. We strolled through Savannah where he gave us a run-down off the haunted places in Savannah. He gave detailed and thorough stories while passing by each house. When we went to have dinner at the Pirate House, it was even more fun. At the end of our dinner, he brought us back to the lobby of the Pirate House and gave us a tour of the Rum Cellar. Sam gave us a tour of the Rum Cellar and gave us the historical context of the Rum Cellar. He told us stories from past groups who have come to the Cellar and have seen some ghost. He then concluded the tour by encouraging us to photograph the cellar. Overall this was an amazing tour, and I would definitely do it again.

My wife and I were excited to do this, especially since Savannah is supposed to be haunted. It is much more of an act than it is a legit ghost tour. From the "voodoo " priestess that climbed aboard our tour bus who had to "cleanse" us by sprinkling salt, to the 3 actors who climbed aboard our bus at certain intervals impersonating a dead person it was less than entertaining and even more important- not informative. The tour guide driving the bus was a good storyteller, but he went on and on. After a while you just tune them out-dinner at the Pirate House was very good, but if you don't like to sit at a table with strangers and have dinner then you won't enjoy it. Lastly,
We thought we were going to be taken into the "rum" cellar and were led to believe right from the parking lot at the start of the tour we would be drinking if you so choose to do so...no bar, nothing but a dimly lit room with some pirate history attached. Just expect this tour to feel more like "pirates of the Caribbean" amusement ride than anything else..

We were hopeful the tour would not only be entertaining but educational. We drove around the same square multiple times before another employee dressed as a period person hoped on the trolly to provide an over acted story of what the host just told. There was a lot of down time which was filled by the hosts sharing her personal life, stories about her childhood and pet sititng. A time that would be better spent sharing the history of Savannah. There are much better options if you're looking for a spooky time in Savannah.
