Overview

Embark on a history tour with a twist. On this afternoon outing in Philadelphia’s Old City neighborhood, you won’t just see the major sights: you’ll also hear spooky stories about the ghosts and serial killers that are associated with the city’s centuries-old landmarks. Led by a trained historian or college professor, you’ll visit Elfreth’s Alley, the Betsy Ross House, and Christ Church, among other destinations.

What to Expect

This afternoon tour begins right outside the Independence Visitor Center, located just steps from the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall. On this outing, you won’t just see many of Old City’s most famous landmarks—you’ll also learn the unconventional ghost stories and legends of serial killers that are written into the city’s history.

As you go, discover some of Philadelphia's most popular landmarks, including Betsy Ross House and Elfreth’s Alley (the oldest residential street in the country). The tour also includes admission to Christ Church—which was founded in 1695, and which counted George Washington and Benjamin Franklin among its parishioners—and its adjacent Burial Ground.

As you spot the gravestones belonging to various Founding Fathers, your guide (a trained historian or college professor) will also share stories about the city's history as well as the insalubrious characters that once haunted its streets.

At the conclusion of the tour, stop for a beverage or sample of moonshine in the neighborhood.

Ted, the Guide was a real "Killer" too

Was it just a coincidence that this tour's guide, Ted, shares his name with several infamous and nefarious other Teds? "Ted" Theodore Bundy, "Ted" Kaczynski, "Ted"Levine. Well, this Ted wasn't a serial killer, but this actor did play "Buffalo Bill" in "Silence of the Lambs..."...More

Awesome tour, great people who work there!

Had a great time, learned a lot, and got a little spooked out too! And Joe in customer service was super helpful with a problem we had pre-tour. Amazing people who work with Grim Philly all the way around the board!
