We are all part of a large surveillance operation
We are all part of a large surveillance operation. You hear this phrase and begin an exhibition of information and interactions about spying.

Good but could be way better
The games were good but 50 mins for 10 rooms at 2 mins per room is not possible given the amount of people left in at a time , you could be waiting 5 to 6 mins to get into a room and the clock starts as soon as you enter the first room. Of course you can buy extra time but that's the NY way , get you in , then get more.money out of you. We bought the spy games experience , we wandered down towards the museum after and were practically hounded back to the lifts to exit , not even a thank you for visiting. So much could be improved on to make it an experience to write rave reviews about but I'm sure ye will get there.

    Evening Family Activity in NYC
Visited as family with two kids (11 and 10). We just booked the games package so not the museum as we were just looking for a activity one evening in NYC. We enjoyed all the games rooms and the 50mins time went past quickly. Would definitely recommend to a family as a fun activity. Only think that would improve is 60mins of time as 50mins made it feel like we needed to rush and almost struggled to get into all the rooms.

    Fun place, bad experience
We did the SpyGames activity which was so much fun although crowded. The workers inside the activity were also very helpful and kind. However, the worker who cuts off the bracelets was rude and did not listen when I asked him to be careful of the beaded bracelet on my wrist which he proceeded to also slice off. Did not even apologize and the bracelet was very sentimental so the experience was kind of ruined by that.

    Spy-games - wear sneakers, it’s a must!
Bought a ticket to Spy-games (so not the museum), and was not let in due to “wrong” shoes - had on flat, tight fitting shoes with rubber soles, but they were not sneakers, so I was not allowed in. Sneakers are clearly specified when you buy a ticket online, but apparently shoelaces are a must (another of our group had Mephisto shoes on, and they were categorized as “sneakers”). Did not think that the shoes I wore would be against the rules, and not be let in. Was advised to go to TJ Max and buy a pair I didn’t need for the 50-min game, which I refused to do. After a long discussion my ticket was refunded (against corporate policy, it was apparently stated on the website somewhere), but only mine, so the rest of the group went, so we didn’t lose all the money we spent on tickets. Just writing this review to warn others to not buy a ticket unless you packed sneakers for the trip, and make sure to wear them if you are going to Spygames. By the way, the rest of the group said that I would have done well in the shoes I wore, any flat shoes with rubber soles would have worked…

Excellent overview of spy craft and major spying incidents in the US
The SPY HQ museum & experience is an excellent overview of spy craft and major spying incidents in the US. I've been to other spy museums in the past (such as the International Spy Museum in Washington, DC) that go into the history & technology of spy craft in more detail. SpyScape concentrates instead on a more interactive learning experience, with lots of computer kiosks for you to learn more major aspects of the craft. Children may find this more interesting than the usual display cases. Another interesting aspect of this museum is the personality profile you gradually fill out by using a supplied wristband to log into computer terminals spread throughout the main floor. Even you are not intending to work for a spy agency, these types of intelligence and spatial awareness quizzes you fill out gives you an idea of what to expect with many contemporary job interviews. It was interesting to see what the computer tests leads the museum to conclude what type of intelligence officer you'd make.

    Really fun morning
Great way to start our morning while in NYC. Had a very enjoyable 1.5 hours or so. Loved the interactive exhibits and things to read/see in between each of them. Highly recommend. Definitely book online to save $5 on ticket price and I googled discount codes and was able to find a 2 for 1 so saved a lot.

    Run couple of hours
Fun mix of displays of spy stuff and interactive puzzles and challenges. Too bad we didn't know the mission impossible laser room was being filmed - we would have tried harder! The surveillance room was the best - but a bit hard to see all the screens and hear the commands. The batman experience involved messaging with an "agent" through an app on a phone they provided. It was overly complex, and detracted from the experience of being in the Leviathan laboratory. Also a bit confusing in the end as we were supposed to save Robin but he wasn't there to be saved. It was definitely worth the price of admission.

    Fun and ineresting Spy Museum.
Spyscape was a lot of fun. Great set up, and design. very creative! A lot of reading, which made the 15 year old loose interest. Could have been more interactive to keep his attention, but the adults enjoyed it immensely. Flexpass was worth it since we had no idea what time we would actually arrive there

Was an okay experience, not really tailored for adults or kids would not return
Got the VIP passes during a NYGO promo so we had a BOGO so all said and done it was like 63 for my wife and I for the regular museum including the Batman one. Don’t understand how this is rated so high. The kiosks are jokes. Pro tip there 8 tasks (questionnaires) that should be done at home so you don’t need to stand at the kiosks for 40 mins… there’s like 4 interactive parts. Encode/decryption on a super basic level which is understandable since there are tons of children, lie detecting (not as interesting as it sounds), surveillance, and the laser corridor (it’s like closet sized) whole thing probably took hour and half. The Batman experience… skip… oh? You got it for free AND you’re a huge Batman fan? Still skip. It’s legit an hour+ of reading texts and doing very menial tasks, the whole thing is scanning QR codes and reading blobs of text from that scan. To improve this museum they should tailor make the interactive parts based on your age. That encryption portion is a joke for an adult it’s literally they letter actually means this. They key is right underneath when you decrypt I would bring kids to the regular museum If it was BOGO otherwise it’s too pricey for what you get. Kids are not gonna care one iota about Turing and real CIA/Russian spies…

    No longer have 007
Be aware, the 007 exhibit is no longer part of this. That was not readily apparent. Wish we knew beforehand. All in all it was interesting and interactive about spycraft, but wouldn’t say it was worth the price of admission. Half the price would be fair. Staff was very helpful and friendly. And they do provide complimentary lockers which was nice.

    Great! But not batman
The Spy museum and activities were entertaining and fun, no doubt. Specially the Lazer tunnel. 287 hits for me, Beat that! BUT, if you wonder into this awesome place please DO NOT WASTE your time and money on the batman experience, it was extremely boring and pricey for literally nothing. Coming from the biggest batman fan in Albany New York, it was horribly disappointing.

    Lots of fun
Very fun and informative. Easily adaptable to both children and adults, and the interactive exhibits range from physical challenges to detecting if a person is lying (none are required), so there’s a lot of variety and it touches on a lot of interests/talents/abilities.

First off, the employees and the actual spy museum is a great experience for both kids and adults. We highly recommend the experience. Unfortunately, when we visited it was the middle of the day and there were A LOT of kids there for a field trip-both elementary and high schoolers. It was very very loud and hard to enjoy some of the experiences. We also witnessed a fight almost break out between some high school girls-which definitely put a damper on the experience. Where were the adults with the school kids-great question?? I would recommend not going during the school day. Given the opportunity to go again we would go later in the afternoon when there were not field trips. It was a lot of money to pay to be surrounded by screaming kids and teens.

We are sorry you arrived on such a busy day! Teachers and chaperones usually do a great job but every now and then we do get a noisy bunch!

Went with 10 year old and 5 year old boys. They both had fun. The younger didn't quite know what was going on, but he liked the little interactive games, and he especially liked the Special Ops activity with his brother.

There's actually some very good information in the museum. I've been to the Spy Museum in DC (15 years ago, so maybe it's been updated) and it didn't have any of the cybersecurity and general surveillance info this museum had, so I really appreciated that. I enjoyed seeing the actual artifacts and how this museum was designed to be interactive. Kudos.

And my kids loved getting their profile in the end (remember taking those quizzes to see how you're classified? This is like the playground version of it). My 5yo had an intelligence score of 10% (he can't read yet) and in the end was a...Spymaster (basically, management)! Hilarious!

We went on a rainy day and had the run of the place. My sons must've done the Special Ops 6 times. That was awesome. Don't know how fun it may be if more crowded with lots of waiting.

As an educator accompanying a group of bright, enthusiastic students from Mexico on an educational trip to New York City, our anticipation for the SPYSCAPE Museum was met with an experience that was both disheartening and unacceptable. Our group looked forward to an engaging day learning about espionage, history, and the art of intelligence. Unfortunately, what we encountered was far from educational or welcoming.

Upon arrival, our students, eager to dive into the exhibits, were subjected to differential treatment that was both overt and unnecessary. Staff members counted our students several times and were told they had taken two missing entry bracelets. This initial interaction set a tone of discomfort and unwelcome that permeated our entire visit.

The most disheartening aspect of this experience was the impact it had on our students. What should have been an exciting educational opportunity was marred by the realization that they were being judged not on their behavior or enthusiasm for learning but on their nationality.

Staff members made comments about the chaperones and students, assuming we could not understand them. This assumption and the choice to voice such comments openly were not only disrespectful but also indicative of a deeper issue of prejudice within the staff's conduct.

The situation deteriorated when we attempted to address this unacceptable behavior. Instead of receiving an apology or even a constructive response, we were met with further discrimination and aggressive behavior. The staff's unwillingness to engage in a respectful dialogue or to acknowledge their inappropriate actions was both shocking and disheartening.

In closing, our experience at SPYSCAPE was a stark reminder that there is much work to be done in the fight against discrimination. It is our hope that by sharing our story, SPYSCAPE will implement training and policies that ensure all visitors are welcomed equally and judged only by their curiosity and eagerness to learn.

It was so much fun! Probably one of the best museums I have visited in a long time.
Not too big to make you tired and bored, extremely interactive and very modern in its exhibitions and delivery of information.
The spy profile building idea throughout the museum is just genius and, unlike some experiences of this kind in other museums, it does not feel like it's just for children. (my husband and I were very competitive)

Even the gift shop was exciting!

I can usually resist the souvenirs from museums but a book about being KGB agent!? or a t-shirt with a hidden pocket!? oh they really got me there

I took my two boys to visit Spyscape. They are ages 11 and 8.5. They love pretending to be spies so I figured this was right up their alley. I expected to see some cool exhibits and have them learn more about real life spies. Instead, we were in for a huge surprise when we got there and saw how interactive all of the activities were...all while still learning about spies and espionage in general. It was immense fun for them and for me as well! We got through the exhibits in about 2.5 hours plus an extra 30 minutes or so in the gift shop. This included doing some of the activities multiple times. I think it would typically take 2 hours. My 11 year old was able to do everything on his own. My 8.5 year old needed some assistance with some of the questions (you get asked questions to create your spy profile). I didn’t take my 7 year old daughter and I’m glad. I think it would have been to complicated for her and she would have needed her own “adult” to help her with things. My boys’ favorite activities were the surveillance test and the operative laser beam challenge. But, really, all the exhibits were amazing and so well done! The free cup of coffee was a nice little perk that I got to enjoy while the boys scoured the gift shop. Thank you spyscape for a wonderful day!

Spyscape was an entertaining and educational experience. Not only did I learn something of the history of various U.S. and foreign spies, I learned something about myself. The museum is a wonderful blend of informative exhibits and interactive experiences. Although some of the interactive experiences were more challenging than others, they were all great fun. Free lockers were provided so you were not stuck carrying your stuff around, thus leaving your hands free for the fun stuff. The only activity that would benefit from a better explanation is the first one, which is a kiosk where you answer personality/risk taking questions. There are 3 additional stations as you move thru the museum. Apparently, all should be visited as your profile is updated. That said, this remains a 5 STAR museum!!!

We really enjoyed SpyScape! It is something that a group of all ages could do and enjoy. Our 10 y/o grandson had a great time with all the interactive activities. Our only complaint is they let too many people at a time in. It was very crowded and hard to move around. We did not get to complete the last activity because the wait was so long, and we had somewhere else we had to be. We were there 2 1/2 hours. Overall it was a great experience.

Tried out the new "Spygames" game-only experience. Slickly produced team games testing reaction time, with some simple puzzles on the side. With current pricing, groups of 4+ are discounted. Not busy. The staff is pretty indifferent.

The Spyscape Museum and Experience is a fun, interactive and informational museum. It has a lot of information about different spies and hackers from history. It has quizzes and challenges that test your spy skills. And it is a lot of fun. We visited the Museum and Experience without knowing much about it, and it was one of our most favorite activities from our trip to NYC. This is a must-do for anyone interested in seeing if they could ever be James Bond or Agent M.

More of an experience than a museum with puzzles to solve. Felt like it was designed to collect personal data on you. The Batman experience part was ridiculous, pointless and tatally anticlimactic. I am concerned that after writing this poor review they will use my personal data against me
