About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- edisony6940 contributionsMixed ExperienceMy son and I went on the speed boat adventure. It was a nice sunny day and we were excited. Prior to getting on the boat, I asked our tour guide what I needed to do in case something malfunctioned during the tour. He said that he would be looking back constantly to ensure everything was all right and not to worry. Unfortunately, our radio stopped working after the first stop. I tried to signal to him a few times without success. Moreover, another boat in the same tour kept on zip zagging in front of us at high speed, creating a lot of unwelcomed wake. I wish the tour guide would have checked to ensure that everything was working as planned as opposed to just going as fast as he could from one stop to the next.Written 22 March 2025
- andytW444AO0 contributionsFamily of three in San Diego. Kid friendly. Your guide was knowledgeable about the area. You will create memories.Amazing experience that anyone without boating experience can do. If you know how to drive a car then you can operate the speedboat.Written 21 March 2025
- Coastal198519738710 contributionsLoved itI’d never operated a speed before, but the Captain made it easy and intuitive. The view was inspirational. I was ready to move at the end.Written 11 March 2025
- elani11240 contributionsJust go!It was so much fun!! Even though it rained a little, wasn't even an issue cause you're most likely going to get wet. Lol Keoni was awesome! Very friendly and knowledgeable. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!Written 7 March 2025
- nhsgary0 contributionsAn exciting way to see the harborVery fun 2 hour tour of the harbor. Each boat holds 2 or 3 people. YOU drive the boat and follow behind the guide. Don't worry, you get plenty of chances to go FAST. The boats are equipped with a speaker so that the guide can talk to you and describe points of interest. You don't really get wet. I would wear a windbreaker to keep any minimal spray off you. Our butts did get wet, as the seats were wet from rain earlier in the day. (Maybe bring something to sit on or just change your pants after you get off.) We used the Go City pass, which made the price of this very reasonable.Written 6 March 2025

- MHsen20000 contributionsGreat Experience Admist Technical DifficultiesMy friend and I were looking for activities to check out for our San Diego day trip and decided to give this speed boat experience a shot. We booked for a 3pm double boat experience. The online booking experience was very simple and straightforward which was much appreciated. We were also able to fill out the waivers for the two of us online which was convenient. The experience itself was definitely memorable and the tour was very good. I'd like to give kudos to our tour guide, Alex, for the great experience. He did an excellent job showcasing a variety of different landmarks on the tour as we followed him throughout the adventure. The only downside for our personal experience was that Alex's boat ran out of gas which we were told was uncommon and not supposed to happen. However, Alex improvised well and handled the situation professionally despite having to take over the boat my friend and I were using for the rest of the trip. I wouldn't recommend for anyone who might get sea sick; Other than that, It was still a great experience and one I'd recommend to anyone who is interested in getting to know more about San Diego and wants to be out at sea for a couple hours. Would go again!Written 2 March 2025
- patriciadP1507IK0 contributionsFun boat ride!!Captain Dave was great, and very knowledgeable about the area. The boat was really easy to drive and you were really able to get some speed on the water. Definitely worth the money.Written 24 February 2025
- Elisabeth S0 contributionsFun adventureIt is so much fun and you get to see the bay from a new perspective.. I think it’s is perfect for taking teenagers as they are allowed to ‘drive’ if they are over 16 and with an adult.Written 23 February 2025

- Prashaant_Lunawatt0 contributionsThrilling San Diego Harbor Adventure: Speedboats, History, and Iconic Sights! The San Diego Self-Drive Harbour Speed Boat Tour was an exhilarating experience! I had an absolute blast navigating the waters, and the tour guide was fantastic—informative, engaging, and full of energy. Cruising past the impressive naval base was a highlight, offering a close-up view of the mighty fleet. Seeing the historic ship-turned-museum was a fascinating touch, adding depth to the tour’s rich maritime experience. And, of course, the iconic "Unconditional Surrender" statue, depicting the famous sailor’s kiss, was the perfect way to cap off an unforgettable adventure on the harbor. Highly recommended!Written 12 February 2025

- Giorgio E0 contributionsFun Adventure in the SD HarborThis experience is a must for anyone looking to do something fun & exciting. I don’t know how to swim, but the instructor (Keoni) made it very comfortable and enjoyable. The boats were in good condition, and the other people in our time slot were friendly.Written 5 February 2025

Decent informative tour overall. However, my scooters GPS and audio cut out halfway through the tour. My wife’s scooter worked the whole time, but kind of a bumpy ride and sometimes hard to hear audio over traffic. It was a good introduction to San Diego, but would have liked more time then the designated 1h time slot. (Took 1.5h start to finish without stopping). We did turn a lot of heads around the city and get asked questions about the cool, big wheeled scooters.

The bikes are fun and the area they take you is pretty cool. I would have preferred a little more time though. We didn't deter from the route and still didn't make it back on time. There wasn't any time to stop and just enjoy. But the customer service guy was awesome and gave us a 10 minute window.
