- darylb680 contributionsMIT TourWe found this an informative tour of the MIT campus. In a short time Issy covered a number of the various buildings and happily answered all of our questions.Written 24 October 2024
- kajun230 contributionsAMAZING. Must do for MIT fans and even those who are brought along by the fans (like me)Fantastic tour. A must go for any MIT fans and would recommend even for those who like me have little initial interest (my fiancé wanted to do this). Because of the tour we also were able to visit buildings that were otherwise locked on the weekend. I left feeling very inspired, in awe and wonder. It was also highly entertaining and educational! Loved as well the highlights of women scientists, the bits about the MIT hacks, and discussions about what the pedagogy is like. Vic the tour guide gave us very clear instructions on where to first meet up and clearly planned, refined and thought through a lot of great areas to highlight during the tour. I especially liked how she spoke off script and would answer every question we would throw at her. I appreciated what MIT does differently from other institutions of higher education. Plus she made it fun. Lots of jokes, interesting culture tidbits and kindness, while generally also keeping us on schedule. Would highly recommend the tour to anyone.Written 9 September 2024

- Geegee820 contributionsGreat tour guide!Austin was a superb tour guide - very, very-well informed, articulate, great sense of humor (but doesn't make dumb jokes). The only issue is that there wasn't enough time. He kept telling us things we could do on our own like visit the West campus afterward, but I thought the tour should be 2 hrs. The knowledge / personality of the leader makes all the difference for this event. Luke did an amazing job!!!
You could wander around the campus yourself, however it just wouldn’t be the same experience. The group leader clearly has extremely detailed and intimate knowledge of Harvard (including a lot of fun facts) - well worth the modest ticket price.
FYI, this event appears to be setup for attendees arriving off the subway… which may be the easiest way. If you’re driving (like us), the Boston roads are very complicated (and parking is both expensive and can be hard to find) so I recommend allowing at least an extra hour if you’re driving in.

Really great tour - our guide, who’s name I believe was Cassia (originally from Poland and graduating this year!) was brilliant. She was knowledgable, funny and able to answer everyone’s questions well - and did the whole thing walking backwards so she could project her voice and the whole group could hear her!
Learned loads of interesting facts and well worth the money - got much more out of walking around the campus with the guide than walking around without one, definitely worth it.
Check it out if you’re in and around Boston!

We had such a great time on our Harvard tour! Our guide Louis was absolutely hilarious and so witty, and gave us tons of wonderful historical information while also making everyone laugh. The tour went around the perimeter of the campus first, then we got to walk through the old yard and the new yard and got to see a ton of student dorms, libraries, dining halls, etc. Super great and thorough look at the campus without being too overwhelming for a family of 5. Louis also answered all of the groups many questions and was very kind and personable. Overall, no complaints, and 10/10 would totally recommend!! Great Job Louis!

We met up at the front of Harvard Yard. We were fifteen minutes early, so we strolled around, heading to Harvard Yard, only to find out it was closed due to reunion parties for the alumni, which occurs every 5 years. Once the time was up, we went to the front. Our tour guide was Molly, who gave us sweet tidbits of information about the history and happenings about Harvard. She showed us what the Harvard curse was, described the dining hall, told the story about their expansive library, and told us Harvard’s screaming tradition before exams.
At the end, she left us at the student-run gift shop. Molly was a fantastic tour guide. The tour was wonderful, and it was filled with fascinated faces, small laughter, and dozens of pictures. It was slightly raining, drizzling, so be sure to bring an umbrella or raincoat. Overall, it was a fantastic tour.

The tour was great! Really enjoyed learning about the history, notable alumni, and notable buildings at Harvard. Ashley is a student at Harvard; who was a great tour guide who kept it engaging and was entertaining for the full hour and fifteen minutes. She also answered some of our questions after finishing. Highly recommend!!

Great tour with Ben, who is a senior at Harvard. I learned a lot about the buildings and their significance, and Ben shared some interesting stories about the rivalry between Harvard and other schools. I believe it is worth it to get this tour to visit Harvard, because without a tour, you will be only looking at some buildings without knowing anything about their history!

Recommended, you don’t go into buildings but instead is around the campus. Andrew told us about the University’s history, funny things about it also (check the story behind John Harvard statue); you can also ask questions. The tour ends at the Harvard’s shop run by students.
University’s museums are open to public, but are not walk-in, just take 5 min to make a reservation on the website and you’re ready to go!

Our guide was super cute and bubbly, but there were just WAY too many people on the tour. She did not have a very loud voice and she had a British accent so we missed ALOT of what she was saying. We were rather disappointed. If you are going to send 30 something people on a tour, the guide needs a microphone.

This tour was pretty much a total waste of time. The information we read ahead of time said there was a 15 person limit to each tour group, but there were 34 people in ours. We basically walked around a small area and looked at building exteriors, while trying to listen to the tour guide. Our guide was a freshman boy who seemed enthusiastic, but he spend a lot of time talking about inane details that were not that interesting. He talked a lot about the process of getting into Harvard - which was not something that most of the group needed to hear. He named dropped some famous people that have attended Harvard, which may have interested some, but is something that could readily be discovered in a simple google search. Frankly, you could probably find out more in the self-guided audio tour. We left the tour early, as it went overtime.

I took this tour yesterday. Our guide, Gabriella, was great. Her knowledge of all things Harvard was incredible, but her presentation skills are what really stood out. She knows how to tell a good story and make it fun, funny, and interesting all at the same time. Great job!

Is a tip to tour guide appropriate? How much is recommended?

We tipped our tour guide. She was really good and as a student she needed the money. We would have tipped $10 but we didn’t have any change so gave her $20.

Hi,
When you google the Harvard walking tour, it looks like it is closed to the public during covid. Is it open or closed please? Is this one different from the Harvard in house tour? Thank you.

It is closed to the public unless you go on there yourself after the tour! The tour guide only walks you on the sidewalk! I would wait until after Covid restrictions to take this tour.

thank you
