- phyllis z0 contributionsGreat excursion. Highly recommendTouring San Fransisco Alex was our tour guide on Sat Oct 21st as we drive thru all the neighborhoods and made various stops like at The Painted Ladies, the Presidio, the Golden Gate Bridge, The Palace of Fine Arts, Muir Woods and Sausalito. Alex was a wealth of knowledge at each location. You could tell he is a proud resident of San Fransisco. It showed in his talks. I would like to give a special thank you to Alex for stopping snd getting me bandages and hydrogen peroxide when I face planted at the bridge-which was TOTALLY my fault. I wasn’t looking where I was going. I hope you got to get lunch Alex. Thanks again. I highly recommend this excursion. I learned so much about The City of San Fransisco.Written 24 October 2023

- joesX3117UZ0 contributionsHighly highly recommended! This tour was perfect. Brendan, our guide, was funny, super knowledgeable, prepared and flexible. We were a small group in a good vehicle, that included water, snacks and maps and picked up at 9am with it finishing just before 3. Brendan provided so much history about San Fran and the surrounding areas, bringing a true locals perspective. He mixed historical facts about the first people through to info about current day Celebs and artists. As a general rule, I don’t enjoy tours, but Brendan and this tour is highly recommended, particularly if you want to get across the most interesting aspects of San Fran in half a day. I could not recommend this more - a great experience and very good value for money.Written 27 September 2023

We went on the 6 hour tour of San Francisco, Sausalito and Muir Woods with Brendan as our host and driver. Despite visiting San Francisco previously but this tour company took our group to many interesting spots that I had not managed to visit previously including Twin Peaks, Fort Point and Billionaire’s row. Lunch in Sausalito was leisurely with an hour allowed to eat and wander around this beautiful spot. Day was topped off with a visit to the fabulous giant redwood forest of Muir Woods. Van is very well equipped and comfortable. Brendan is an amazing guide who was both knowledgeable and incredibly friendly. Small group of 6 made the tour even more enjoyable. Highly recommend this tour to anyone interested in learning a lot about and seeing a lot of San Francisco and the Bay Area in a short period of time.

I like how the tour is organized. The tour guide, Brandon If I remember correctly, showed us around SF. I love his highly energetic , friendly voice.
He stopped at Sausalito around 1 hour for lunch. I think this is enough to have time and wonder around this beautiful area. Next, he drove us to Muir Woods and we can hike there around 1h20 minutes. The entrance fee is not included ( I wish he did ) Muir Woods is a wonderful area for a short hike so I love it
Overall, I like it a lot. I highly recommend this tour if someone wants to explore nature, city neighborhood and parks in SF. He's super friendly toward us if we have questions about exploring SF!

Our tour guide, Brendan, grew up in San Francisco. He was very personable as he shared some of his experiences as well as knowledge about the history, the natural beauty, and the diverse cultures of the Bay area. The tour offered a sweep of the city with stops and photo ops; a ride over The Golden Gate Bridge and suggestions for lunch in Sausalito; and finally enough time to take in the majestic redwoods of Muir Woods. Though advertised as a half day tour, we were given six full hours, a substantial foundation for our extended visit, and recommendations for what to do next. I heartily recommend this tour for first timers and anyone wanting a refresher on the Best of SF!

To say this tour was amazing would be a massive understatement.
Brendan's knowledge of the city (SF), Sausalito & Muir Woods was both informative & helpful.
His personality showed through with his humor & charisma. He made this tour absolutely phenomenal!
Heck, he was even thoughtful enough to provide champagne since he knew we were celebrating our anniversary. 🍾
My wife can't stop raving about it!
We will send all of our friends who travel to SF to SF Excursions & we will definitely book with them again the next time we are in town.

We had such an amazing time on our trip with Brendan! We were a family of 6 and we all enjoyed it so much. Brendan was an amazing tour guide and had all of the best information on the city. Muir Woods was beautiful! Lunch in Sausalito was delicious. We stopped at the best places to take beautiful pictures. We loved that it was a small group and felt very intimate and personable. Would definitely recommend this trip for everyone! You really do get to see the whole city and more in just 6 hours!

I cannot recommend this highly enough. I've never done anything like it, but a tour seemed like the simplest way to see Muir Woods. Spending a little time there was my base level expectation, but Brendan far exceeded that. In fact, I can't decide whether I'm now a "tour person" or if I should avoid tours forever because the bar was set so high:)
The van was comfortable with snacks provided and the small group was a perfect size. Brendan truly has insider knowledge about every neighborhood we passed through and spoke with the empathy and true modern historical perspective of a native - with plenty of humor along the way (seriously, this man has jokes and they don't suck).
I intentionally booked this for my first full day since it included the neighborhood tour. I walked away with a better understanding of where I'd like to spend the rest of my trip, including a few places that weren't at the top of my list before, like North Beach.
I appreciated that nearly every stop included directing us to bathrooms, haha. There was also a playlist of music at the best moments. I wonder how much thought went into driving the exact perfect speed over the Golden Gate bridge to fit the length of the song? And it didn't seem like an accident that we just listened and relaxed after the peaceful time spent in Muir Woods rather than jumping back into conversation.
Overall, this will definitely be one of the highlights of my trip (and really, the best part so far).
Pretty much every review I read for SF Excursions was fantastic and they're not wrong. Stop wasting your time trying to decide on a company and book it now.

This really does give you the best day in San Francisco! It was my first time visiting San Francisco and I’m so happy I booked this tour for my boyfriend and I! We had an amazing time touring the best places in San Francisco and it really allowed us to pinpoint the certain areas we wanted to revisit after the tour was done. I would highly recommend this tour for anybody who wants to get to know San Francisco’s greatest spots better or just to chill out with the coolest tour guide ever. This tour offers sightseeing, amazing photo opportunities, San Francisco history, and the ability to immerse yourself into the San Francisco lifestyle.

Great tour to take on your first day in San Francisco. The morning is spent making a circuit of the main areas of the city with historical and entertaining commentary by Brendan. Before crossing the Golden Gate bridge, we spent some time in the park below admiring it's man-made majesty. Sausalito is a nice spot to stop for lunch, but the sky was very clear and the sun very hot that morning; I ended up with a sunburn on my forehead and scalp; wear SPF or a cap or both! Moving on to the natural majesty of the redwood trees in Muir Woods. The hour self-guided tour was great, but we could have easily spent another hour trekking the trails. Oh, and be ready for the fog rolling across the mountaintops on the return, such an awe-inspiring sight.

Very informative and entertaining. Brendan was great and the price was extremely reasonable compared to other tours I researched. I was trying to find a good value given that we were a family of 8 (adult children and spouses) and this exceeded our expectations. Don’t hesitate and make this one of the first things you do visiting San Francisco. Brendan gave us great recommendations on restaurants too. It will help you plan what you want to do and avoid.

We selected this tour on our first day in San Fransisco and we would highly recommend this to others. Brendan was very known and passionate about the city and it gave us a great overview of what San Francisco has to offer. We really enjoyed the personal touch and the music choices were great!

If the Alcatraz option is selected, is the 90- minute audio tour inside the building? Wanting to make sure we're able to go into the prison if we select that option.
Written 24 November 2024
Once you land on Alcatraz via the boat, you will receive a briefing from one of the park personnel. Walk up the hill and follow the signs to the “Audio Tour.” The signs mark the path well to the prison entrance where you will receive your audio tour headphones. You can take as much time as you need on the audio tour, and you can pause the recording to take photos and see things up close. Once you are done with the audio tour, you can walk about the island seeing the other sites. Just ensure you are back in time to catch the last ferry back to the mainland.

Do you need to purchase muir woods entrance in advance, if not do you have to stand in line to get and does that eat into your woods time.

I purchased the ticket there. I was in line for about 3-4 minutes. It moves fast

We started at the meet point around 8:00 am. And the tour started at 9:00am once everyone was on the bus. This was worth the experience because you get to see the gems of San Francisco. Overall, the schedule was very organized and we got back early as soon as 2:00pm.

The tour I was on also was about 7 hours as I think he gave us slightly more time to enjoy Muir Woods. Plus he dropped many of us near/at our hotels and I was one of the last to get off. Highly recommend this tour!
