      Ask questions ahead of time.
Most miserable tourist experience I ever had. The bus was overcrowded. No AC. The lower level was about 90 degrees. Two stops were bypassed which the guides didn’t mention until we were two stops into the tour. Waited 40 minutes at one stop. Take Ubers!

      Amazing Tour with Doug!
The guided tour through Chinatown was amazing. Our guide Doug did a great job at explaining the history of the place and uplifted the atmosphere of our visit.

Great complete tour of the city's highlights and landmarks
The route of this bus tour was the best, most complete one I have ever been on in any major city. I like these bus tours for a great overview of a city. This one goes to famous neighborhoods and landmarks all over the city including actually crossing the Golden Gate bridge and back.

I enjoyed the 2 tours I did with this company
I did 2 tours with the Big Bus Tours while in San Francisco and both were fantastic. The first one was the night tour, which was a short, fun tour to do on the first night to get a feel for the city. It's windy but fun going over the Bay Bridge and you get off the bus at Treasure Island for a photo stop. Then I also did the half day tour to wine country which was so much fun. The group was great, and our guide and driver, Grady, was the best! At first I thought of doing a wine tour with a smaller company but all the ones I found were full day but I'm so glad I did this one, since it fit my schedule better and it was fun doing something like that with a big group as a solo traveler. The meeting point is easy to find, and when I booked the wine tour I called and spoke with Jono, who was very nice. Also, my hotel (Hyatt) offered a discount for Big Bus Tours so check for this!

      Great tour
Great tour that truly gives you a taste of city. The trip over the Golden Gate Bridge is a wonderful treat! Was surprised at how windy it truly was in the city so be sure to dress warmly. Tour lasts about 2 hours and is well worth the trip!

This was a great way to view SF. I love the fact you can hop off a bus to spend as much time as you want at some of the sights and are able to catch another bus and continue the tour.

Great introduction to a fabulous city
It was the perfect way to see the city and some of their more well known sites. We did two days (only a few dollars more than a single day) so the first day we just rode the bus until lunch and then the following day we had a list of places to visit. We then did the walking Chinatown tour on day 3. I feel it was good value for money.

Great Way To See The City
A Big Bus Tour was a great way to see San Francisco. It took us close to all the landmarks we wanted to see. We easily left the bus at a stop and went back on later. We liked the audio tour. Keep in mind that they give out the earbuds with the things that stick into your ears. Those kinds don't fit my ears so I couldn't listen when going over the Golden Gate Bridge. I had to hold my hood over my head while going over the bridge! It got really cold and windy but definitely worth it. They'll give you a warning at the last stop before the bridge so you can decide if you'd be better off inside the bus. One thing we didn't like is that the app showed the bus coming at 10:26 to the Union Square stop but when we got there at 10:15 we saw another bus already leaving. The explanation given by staff was to not trust the app... The 3 staff members we interacted with were all wonderful. They were friendly and helpful and cheerful. The walking tour with Doug was fantastic. I was pleasantly surprised to have a tour guide that lives in and loves the SF Chinatown area. I enjoyed all the stops along the way, even grabbing some fortune cookies, egg tarts, and boba. I wish the buses went in both directions.

I second guessed booking this the moment we walked to the pier. Staff was very pushy. They Pretty much empty one bus just to fill it up again. (It was way to cold for us to sit on the top.) walking into the bus all I noticed was how dirty it was. There was garbage everywhere. People were bringing food and drinks on the bus and not cleaning up after themselves. Clearly there is no sanitizing of anything happening if even the garbage isn’t picked up in between bus loads of people.

Next the tour starts and we realize it’s all automated and you listen thru headphones. Which wouldn’t be a huge deal if there is no traffic and your bus makes all the lights. Our bus was stopped at a few traffic lights so the audio tour was off. It was telling us to look at something that we couldn’t even see yet. So not a personal experience or story from your guide, the guide just drives.

The highlight of our tour was our bus broke down so they were going to send a new one. After about 20 minutes we just ditched the tour and walked off. We had dinner reservations we didn’t want to miss and the tour wasn’t the greatest anyhow. Even without the bus breaking down or if it was clean it still wouldn’t be worth the $40-$50 per person for an audio tour. My advise would be to only go on a nice day where you won’t freeze on top, that could be the only way this tour may be enjoyable.

We bought the day and night tour together. Our day tour was a bit frustrating and hard to figure out. Once we got it down, we were excited to see the city at night. It was raining and they passed out disposable poncho’s . We grabbed an extra one to cover the wet seat on the top deck and hunkered down for the adventure. Once we plugged in and set to Channel 2 (for English) for the pre-recorded commentary, the tour was great. Seeing the city at night, from above the street was amazing. We drove onto the Oakland Bay Bridge, and had beautiful views looking back at the city (even in the fog). The bus took us to Treasure Island, and pulled over and let everyone out to take pictures at the most scenic evening view. A site I don’t want to forget. Lots of history of the island, and info about San Fran during the tour. The evening tour more than made up for the afternoon. If you get a chance, DO IT!

The tour was average. Just a ride to a lookout point and back with earplugs that spoke about the location as you passed. I was a little annoyed that late comers were invited to board as we were leaving without paying, while we arrived 30 minutes prior and payed $40 a person.

I liked the commentary as we passed buildings and landmarks and the city at night is pretty awesome. I did not like the freezing cold. If you take this tour and the temperature is below 50 Fahrenheit, wear your warmest coat, hat, scarf and gloves. You will not hear the commentary as you speed under a bridge and above it. You will hear plastic flapping furiously, that will be the ‘rain coats’ and everyone will crouch down below their seat to avoid the wind. This part of the tour is not fun. Not sure what it is like on a warmer night, probably delightful, but on a cold wet evening, it is horrendous. Come prepared for an adventure, certainly an uncomfortable one. If you are not prepared for cold wet weather and a fast drive under and over a bridge, this experience is not for you.

The big bus tour was informative, and our driver/tour guide, Raphael, was great! The 1.5hr "night-time" bus tour began promptly at 6:30pm and drove through many historical areas of San Francisco; a prerecorded audio system provided info about the sites as we drove through them (GPS map was also available via app; ear buds were provided). Raphael stopped several times to tell more about particular landmarks, which were not part of the audio guide. He was energetic,  friendly and helpful...even helping to take photos for participants at one stop, where tourists were allowed to get off. We rode at the top of the big bus for most of the tour, which added to the experience, but make sure to dress warmly if you opt to ride up-top because it gets very, very chilly. After the tour was over, Raphael made an additional trip back to Union Square, just to provide a ride for tourists who were staying in the area.

If I could change one thing, it would be for the "night tour" to start a little later. It was barely dusk at the time the tour ended...no night lights, as advertised. Nevertheless, it was an awesome tour with lots of great photo opps, especially for the price. Recommended...

Very disappointing tour. $60 for the combined day and night tour. Crowded buses … had to wait 40 minutes to board the day tour. NO LIVE COMMENTARY on day or night tour and much of the day commentary repeated word for word on night tour. This is just lazy. There are lots more SF stories that could be added. Commentary very bland and lots of dead air time. Night tour in day light so bridge light display not visible and city shrouded in cloud. Poor value. Would not recommend.

Don’t know if this tour was worth it. It seem alotta people bought tickets as the first bus was packed so had to wait for another one which came like 25 minutes later.

Didn’t really pass any interesting places/monuments, briefly pass near Chinatown in which you would miss it if you were not paying attention. There was hardly no commentary on the speaker. In fact for most of the tour the audio sounds on the speakers was not working properly

It was cold especially when the bus would be driving as certain speeds and unfortunately the group of people sitting near me were loud and annoying, yt guys kept making corny OJ jokes

Thank you for your review and feedback! The bus departure every 15-30mins. Chinatown is our stop #2 you would've had to hop off there and walk to the actual Chinatown to see all the shops and restaurants. We do provide every guest with headphones to hear the audio tour. We apologies if you were not able to hear the tour properly. Unfortunately as we are getting into the winter San Francisco is starting to get colder, we always suggest a jacket sunny or not.

The trip was great and it was a lot of sightseeing. Unfortunately I visited after the time change so it was really dark, I assume other times of the year there would be more light and everything would look better. The driver was good and friendly, the audio input was a bit spotty where I sat and it would go out sometimes, or just keep the music but the talking would stop and I would have to remind myself to move it a bit for it to work.

Just go and buy several $3 MUNI tickets and ride the route. You will not notice much difference, but the price!

If you still want to pay 15 times more, then at least do it during summer time. It is freaking cold on the second deck in February in San Francisco, especially taking into account that you will cross the bridge.

Thank you for your review and feedback of Big Bus San Francisco. We are so sorry to hear you did not enjoy the audio on the bus. Not all of our buses are equipped with a live guide, generally every other departing bus will contain a live guide during winter months. The free Big Bus app, is available to download and it will indicate which buses contain live guides versus pre-recorded commentary. San Francisco is typically a breezy city. During winter season it does get colder so we do recommend to wear a warmer jacket and a hat even if you're not riding on a top deck. We do hope that you will give us another chance in the future as we want all of our customers to have a great experience. If you have anything further you would like to discuss please contact us directly at infosf@bigbustours.com

Great way to view the city. It was a nice view up high. The steep hills made it feel like I was at an amusement park on a roller coaster ride. It was a bit windy. The conductor was very insightful and mentioned things that the average person wouldn’t know. It was very interesting and exciting
