Overview
On this Alcatraz tour and San Francisco cruise combo, travel to the prison island by ferry and sightsee from a rigid-hulled inflatable boat (RIB). Enhance your Alcatraz visit with a provided audio tour, learning about what life was like on “The Rock.” Your cruise will get close to notable highlights such as the Presidio and the sea lions at Pier 39, and you’ll pass right under the Golden Gate Bridge.
What to Expect
The tour begins with a ferry ride to Alcatraz from Pier 33. Using your headset, take a self-guided “cell house” tour to learn how prisoners spent their time, and visit the solitary confinement area and cafeteria. You’ll see views of San Francisco and the bay while you walk around.
Return to Pier 33 and take a short stroll to catch your 90-minute RIB cruise. Pass close to the Ferry Building, the Presidio, and under the Golden Gate Bridge while your captain narrates stories. Stay dry with provided waterproof jacket and pants.
The itinerary is flexible, but you might also see a WWII Liberty Ship and Submarine, Fort Point, AT&T Park (during baseball games), and Coit Tower.
On the return journey to Pier 33, get close to the beloved sea lions on pier 39.
